“Fabulous!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2012

Situated at the entrance to Petra, this Hotel was great. Very new, the room was lovely and so was the bathroom with tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The terrace is built into the rock and is a lovely place to sit in the evenings.
The breakfast and dinner were both excellent and I really liked the white tablecloths and material napkins - everything was super clean. I also found the staff friendly and helpful.
The only complaint I have is that the wifi is not free of charge, i really think that in a hotel of this category it should be.
I would recommend this Hotel and would stay there again!
We are a mature couple and were travelling in a group.

I stayed at the Petra Guest House on 9 June 2012. I was going to stay 2 nights but changed to one.
This hotel has so much potential with the location, uniqueness of the building and so much more, but the staff just don't deliver. Crowne Plaza should be ashamed to have an association with this hotel.
It was meant to have wifi internet throughout hotel but even in the lobby it was no good.

Room Tip: If you stay here, request a room looking out towards the city or the path down to the monuments.

Stayed in this hotel with a tour for 2 nights. The hotel was run by Crown Plaza hotel chain and best thing about this hotel was its location – just 10 meters walking distance from the entrance to the Siq and the old city of Petra. The room was quite nice but aircon was rather weak. This hotel had 38 TV channels which included even Bloomberg TV, National Geographic, Fox Movies, Italian, French, Arab and Abu Dhabi channels. Internet charges were expensive at US$7 an hour and US$27 for full day. It was strange that housekeeping would only provide cream powder on day 1 despite complimentary tea and coffee would be restocked during our stay. We asked for it but our request was neglected. The room was quite clean except a dirty cup being overlooked by housekeeping. However, the mechanic staff was a perfectionist and did a good job in fixing our shower head (which was too weak) as well as the sink which was blocked.

Breakfast was rather boring as all items were unchanged for the next day but their juices were quite good. Buffet dinner was acceptable but the staff made you feel uncomfortable hanging on inside the restaurant even though the time was only 8.30 p.m. Looked like they wanted to clean up and leave early.

Also tried the buffet at the hotel’s restaurant inside Petra. Food was quite good and reasonably priced. However, tables were packed as many tours had lunch there.

Its location right outside the entrance to Petra combined with its relatively humane prices makes this a very good option if you are planning to see Petra for a day or two. Rooms of good standard and a breakfast buffet with good variety. Also a bit surprising to find that its bar and restaurant was not more expensive than the much simpler restaurants along the main street.

Don't forget to bring water and snacks when you enter Petra. Jordanians love ripping off their tourists and nowhere more so than in this enclosed and hot area...

On and all the staff were helpful, but we had some issues with reservations, we booked for double bedroom and we found out that it is triple room, and the reception couldnt change the reservation, but they compensated us for the late check-out. I would recommend it if you dont like to be far from petra itself, it is very close by , the restaurant downstairs has very tasty food.

Room Tip: No swimming pool there. the room we had didnt have any view except a wall!!!

We just stayed at the Petra Guest House in April 2012, it was perfectly located for our tight schedule. To enjoy Petra, you need to be on the trail about 7.15am - 7.30am.The ticket office and entrance are right out side the hotel. The guide books mention the Guest house...but don'r rave about it, this is a 4 start hotel. We were pleasantly surprised and would definately stay again for the location & price & friendly staff.

Excellent location, but be prepared to drive down pedestrianised road to access. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast included. Only disappointment was weak air-con in room.
