“good value for money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2014

We got a good deal at this place for 20 dinar (= euro) per night plus breakfast.
The location is excellent - a short walk to the entrance of Petra, surrounded by restaurants and a good supermarket downstairs for snacks and picnic lunches.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The rooms could do with a carpet clean and a coat of paint. We were there in December and the room was cold ... the windows don't actually fit into the window frames so there is a bit of a draft, despite having central heating.

If your in Petra for a couple of days and need a place to stay, then you cant fault Petra Sun Set Hotel for location and price.
About a 10 minute walk from the entrance to Petra and on the 'main drag', so theres a few options restaurants for eating out.
The accommodation is nothing flash - you get what you pay for.
No AC but you get a fan, rooms worn down, bathrooms not the best, wifi only available in reception, breakfast in your standard pita bread, slices of tomato and cucumber with various spreads and tea and coffee facilities.
But like I said, your not paying much and your getting a great location and the rooms are definitely good enough to stay in for a couple of nights.

Stayed there for three nights in October and liked it very much. The single room was clean and the whole hotel was very quiet. The best part is the location, which is only five minutes away from the gate to Petra. Staff are friendly and eager to help. Breakfast is not bad with lots of bread, jams, butter and some cucumber and tomatoes. Wifi is available in lobby area only but it was somehow unavailable while I was for some technical issues.

One problem was that there were not a whole lot of guests while I was there so it was impossible to organize a group for Wadi Rum tour, which was my next destination. But it shouldn't be a big problem since there are lots of travel agencies offering the tour around the hotel. I heard the hotel used to be offering dinner for 7 jd or something but it looks like they stopped offering that, which is a shame given restaurants in Wadi Musa are overpriced in general.

Great value and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Located so conveniently from the Petra site gate/ticket booth that you don't need a taxi going or returning. Our triple room was spacious and even the bathroom too. Lots of plugs for charging your devices. Simple breakfast of pita bread, jams, hummus, hard boiled eggs, and tea. Wifi access only at the lobby.

Good budget stay when visiting Petra.

If, like me, you're doing a a fast journey around Jordan and need a couple of days to see Petra then Sun set is in the perfect location at the right price. It gets the job done if you're out all day exploring the amazing ancient city and Sun Set is only a stone's throw from the main entrance of the city. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable beds. There's plenty of restaurants along the street. Couldn't fault this place apart from the fact reception wasn't manned most of the time - not a big deal for me. Overall a great experience.

The hotel and rooms are very clean and has rooms with 3 beds, so nice especially when you travel with lots of friends. It is very close to Petra main entrance. I found price $25/night the most cheapest in whole Petra. They have wifi only at the reception.

I had read a lot about Petra when planning our trip and wanted to avoid a lengthy uphill walk to our hotel after exiting the site, and also didn't want to take a taxi each time. This hotel was the cheapest hotel that I could find within easy walking distance of the entrance to Petra.
I negotiated a cheaper price on a room with A/C as we were staying for 4 nights. The room looked fine at first glance and the A/C worked - but the sink leaked in the bathroom such that just washing your hands created a huge flood across the floor. We told the management about this several times but nothing was done and it continued to leak despite them saying multiple times that it was fixed / being fixed.
Other points - better to source your own breakfast (to get into Petra for when it opens) and lunch (the packed lunch from the hotel wasn't up to much and it's expensive to eat inside Petra).
If budget and location are your main concerns then this hotel ticks those boxes.
