“Great for value. Highly recommendable.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

Stayed there for three nights in October and liked it very much. The single room was clean and the whole hotel was very quiet. The best part is the location, which is only five minutes away from the gate to Petra. Staff are friendly and eager to help. Breakfast is not bad with lots of bread, jams, butter and some cucumber and tomatoes. Wifi is available in lobby area only but it was somehow unavailable while I was for some technical issues.

One problem was that there were not a whole lot of guests while I was there so it was impossible to organize a group for Wadi Rum tour, which was my next destination. But it shouldn't be a big problem since there are lots of travel agencies offering the tour around the hotel. I heard the hotel used to be offering dinner for 7 jd or something but it looks like they stopped offering that, which is a shame given restaurants in Wadi Musa are overpriced in general.

Great value and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Located so conveniently from the Petra site gate/ticket booth that you don't need a taxi going or returning. Our triple room was spacious and even the bathroom too. Lots of plugs for charging your devices. Simple breakfast of pita bread, jams, hummus, hard boiled eggs, and tea. Wifi access only at the lobby.

Good budget stay when visiting Petra.

If, like me, you're doing a a fast journey around Jordan and need a couple of days to see Petra then Sun set is in the perfect location at the right price. It gets the job done if you're out all day exploring the amazing ancient city and Sun Set is only a stone's throw from the main entrance of the city. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable beds. There's plenty of restaurants along the street. Couldn't fault this place apart from the fact reception wasn't manned most of the time - not a big deal for me. Overall a great experience.

The hotel and rooms are very clean and has rooms with 3 beds, so nice especially when you travel with lots of friends. It is very close to Petra main entrance. I found price $25/night the most cheapest in whole Petra. They have wifi only at the reception.

I had read a lot about Petra when planning our trip and wanted to avoid a lengthy uphill walk to our hotel after exiting the site, and also didn't want to take a taxi each time. This hotel was the cheapest hotel that I could find within easy walking distance of the entrance to Petra.
I negotiated a cheaper price on a room with A/C as we were staying for 4 nights. The room looked fine at first glance and the A/C worked - but the sink leaked in the bathroom such that just washing your hands created a huge flood across the floor. We told the management about this several times but nothing was done and it continued to leak despite them saying multiple times that it was fixed / being fixed.
Other points - better to source your own breakfast (to get into Petra for when it opens) and lunch (the packed lunch from the hotel wasn't up to much and it's expensive to eat inside Petra).
If budget and location are your main concerns then this hotel ticks those boxes.

The French receptionist is very friendly and extremely helpful, she even lent me her laptop to use. The rooms are basic and simple, but clean and functional. The only downside is the driver who they arranged for us Petra to Aquaba decided to bring along his wife and kid in the small car, of course after the wife was seated in the car the driver asked us if we are okay with this!! We did not mind all that much, but what really put us off is that on arrival here in Aqaba, he pocketed the change from the trip. We would have tipped him in any case, but his attitude was like he had a right to the change. So I would state, the hotel gets full 5 stars, but be careful of the driver they arrange especially for long trips.

Room Tip: All rooms seem good, we stayed on the 2nd floor and they serve breakfast on the 3rd floor. The bell...

It was really a pleasure to stay here. I had a nice, spacious room with a fan for 20 JD which was very reasonable. I opted for the 7 JD hotel dinner every night, prepared by their Egyptian chef, and the multicourse meal was very good (eating out in this prohibitively expensive tourist town will drain your wallet). There was also plenty of food for breakfast which is available as early as 6:00 AM. Since the hotel is practically at the entrance to Petra, I was able to enter the complex around 6:30 and was the only one walking down the siq. How many people can enjoy such privileged solitude? And I owe it to the location of the hotel.

The owner Belal--as I discovered--is liked and respected everywhere in town. He's known for his professionalism, as well as for his generous and caring nature. Thanks to him, there is a special feeling of well-being which I've not experienced in other hotels. I felt welcome and looked after. Belal arranged a tour for me at Wadi Rum--I spent a day and night there with Abu Ali and his son. There were no other tourists and I was able to savor the amazing beauty of the desert by myself. Let Belal arrange this tour for you. Don't miss out on Wadi Rum--it is an unforgettable experience.

Last but not least, the receptionist--Keltoum--at the hotel was an absolute delight, friendly, engaging, and hospitable. She made a real difference with her charm!
