“Good Hotel, handy location”
Reviewed February 16, 2009

Very homely hotel, room was fine, location of the hotel good for access to Petra, and prices seemed reasonable for the area. Dinner in the hotel was good, although you may find you are the only people eating in, which can feel a little strange. The owner speaks good english, is very friendly! and can help organise and advise on future travel plans in Jordan. We heard other accomodation options can be bad in Petra so this hotel seemed a pretty safe bet.

Have correct money when paying cash as change appeared hard to come by. Also not sure why credit card numbers were required for booking confirmation as there was no facility to pay by card when checking out?

Ibrahim is indeed charming, and the rest of the staff was helpful and courteous. The room was clean and relatively inexpensive (50JD for a triple); the bathroom cold but clean. However, the dinner was a major disappointment. We were running late driving from the north, and could have stopped at a wonderful local restaurant on the road with our guide, but we were told by Ibrahim that a meal was being "specially prepared" for our late arrival. Ugh, it was reheated leftovers. And not even close to being good.

This place is awesome. I mean who dosen't love a nice place for $50. The mangager is very helpful and will arrange for you to go anywhere with no commision. Valley Stars is very cozy and will make you feel welcome with their niightly dinner buffets. The rooms are clean with hot showers, wi-fi internet, and tv. Whats not to like.

We booked this hotel the day before we arrved and found a warm friendly welcome. The evening meals for the two evenings we stayed were wonderful - home cooked! Ibraham oblidged with lifts to and from the hotel at times to suit us. We were also given very helpful advice on our further travels in Jordan. Rooms are comfortable and clean - ours had a view towards Petra. All in all - very good value from a 2 star hotel.

Really nice, clean and comfortable hotel with a cosy, family-run atmosphere. Rooms were clean and modern. Buffet dinner was very tasty and home cooked. Ibrahim, who runs the hotel, was very friendly and helpful and took the time to speak to all the guests and offer tips and advice. Hotel also offers free transport to the gates of Petra. Definitely recommended!

We booked this hotel primarily because we could not get a room anywhere else for the four nights we spent in Wadi Musa. In fact we heard from others that the hotels in this town overbook regularly and may people are shuffled off to other hotels for their stay. Ibrahim, the manger of Valley Stars, was very helpful. He provided a free shuttle service to the gate of Petra, with free pickup whenever we were done for the day. Our room was small but clean. Since this a two star hotel there were no room amenities, not even soap. The sheets though were changed every day. Breakfast was fine, with hot food. We had booked the hotel before we left through their website. Luckily we brought the confirmation e-mail with us since the booking was not in the books, but the person who made the booking was there. As well the hotel tread the increase the rate by one dinar but when we showed him the e-mail they accepted the quoted rate. So bring your confirmation with you. The highlight of the stay was the meal prepared by Ibrahim’s mother – it was excellent and very well priced. Suggest you take this option if you there on the evening when it is offered – the meal was far better than any meal we ate in the local restaurants.

A word of caution about Wadi Musa. It was the only place in Jordan during our three week independent travel that we needed to be cautious. For example, we wanted a transfer to Aqaba with a Wadi Run excursion. Prices varied so much that we needed to search out at least five or six quotes before finding one that made sense. We used Petra Moon hotel and the service was excellent for that transfer. Shopkeepers often tried to gouge us. For example, water for 2 dinars when it should have been 50 fils. Nuts that were priced on the bag at 500 files for JD1. When the shopkeeper did not give me back the change, he took back the bag of nuts and returned my dinar! A waiter keeping the change on a bill. Anyway, it is very unfortunate that this town is so different than the rest of Jordan. It did leave somewhat of a sour taste, more than made up though by the splendours of Petra.

Stayed here for a few days and it was one of my good hotel-experiences in my trip in the Middle East. It has good facilities for a two-star hotel and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Ibrahim, the manager, speaks good english and can arrange anything for you. His mother cooks the dinner and it is absolutely worth a try.. The view from the roof is great too.
