“Bursting with character...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2011

We stayed one night at the Dana Tower Hotel, paying 30JD for a double room with shared bathroom and evening meal. The hotel is bursting with character which makes the stay interesting, an old stone hotel with themed rooms and elaborately decorated - it has great social areas to relax and meet other travellers and friendly staff who will make you feel welcome. The evening meal buffet is very generous and some of the best food we ate while visiting Jordan. I had read some negative reviews regarding the hotels relationship with Wild Jordan responsible for conserving the area due to the hotel becoming private but they both recommended each others services and seemed to have a symbiotic relationship (the Feinnan lodge as also gone private and no longer owned by the conservation centre).

The only minor issues were that we didn't get much sleep due to the metal locker-style doors which were very noisy - as we were near to the shared bathroom this woke us during the night. There also only seemed to be two bathrooms so long waits in the morning, I decided not to shower as the bathroom needed cleaning due to the amount of people using it and the toilet was leaking but this wasn't a problem for a one night stay. I would recommend checking in early to get a good pick of the rooms as some are more private and larger than others.

Room Tip: Check in early to get pick of the rooms

spent three nights here, on a dinner bed and breakfast deal, good value for money, very helpful staff. Bedrooms are dark and the pillows uncomfortable (like others in Jordan). Fabulous views and walks nearby.

This is a very interesting place to stay. We arrived at night and walked around the "hotel" looking at the dining room, living room and bed rooms. The entire complex is made of unleveled stone and extremely steep steps. There is no heat and it was absolutely freezing. One of the coldest nights of our lives!! But the dinner and breakfast is amazing and the hotel would be very nice to stay in during the warmer months. But between Oct-Apr, stay at a different (heated) place in Dana.

We stayed 2 nights and were very happy. Our tour company messed up so we arrived late one night without a reservation. The staff went out of their way to find us suitable rooms for our family of 4. I can't recommend the small rooms on the first floor, but everything else we saw was great. Meals were very good and well priced. The furnishings were a little worn, but very clean thanks to the staff of 3 ladies who seemed to be constantly cleaning something.

Stayed a night with 2 friends and my 12-year old son. Very hospitable and warm ambience at this small but very charming ''hotel''. Staff is friendly. They were immediately attentive towards my son. Sunset was great view from the roof. Staff gives good advice. Played us nice songs and music in the evenings.
Food was a bit cold but tasty.
Shower was hot. Rooms were very clean. compliments to housekeeping and chef.
Azim was very charming host and made us laugh a lot. Gave us great tips.

He arranged for us Wadi Rum and we loved it.

Dana is located in a wonderful natural reserve. The owner, Mr Nabbel, is a very pleasant person like all the staff and there are still available to help you. The room are very simple but it s enough. Very friendly place.

We didn't have a reservation but a tent on the roof, under the stars was all we needed to enjoy this little haven of calm. The hotel is incredibly clean, the food delicious and the welcome warm and friendly. And then there's the view... words cannot describe how beautiful a place Dana is. However long you plan to stay, add an extra day. You'll not regret it.
