A truly great week here, everything everyone else has said...and more. Glynis and Nigel are perfect hosts, welcoming, kind, knowledgeable. From cooked breakfasts in the morning, to tea and cake in the afternoon, and a very high standard three course meal in the evening, the catering was perfectly pitched for an active week. Lifts to and from the gondola station very very helpful. We travelled with a large group of friends, and between us had several young children and they were welcomed and looked after just as well as the adults, with earlier meal times, etc, and no complaints about the sprawl of toys and chaos that we created. The bedrooms are well equipped, warm and cosy. Very very highly recommend this place for a stay in Bansko, and we'll definitely be going back.

Only just got back from our stay in the Devonshire Lodge yesterday & can't beleive what an amazing holiday we had. We were a big group with lots of noisy young children, but Nigel & Glynis couldn't have been more welcoming & hospitable. The rooms were super clean, warm & cosy, the food delicious and nothing was too much trouble. Both Nigel & Glynis worked so hard to make this a great holiday and after a hard day enjoying ourselves in the snow we got to come back to cake & the hot tub! We will be back! Thank you so much!!

Our first family ski holiday (we were a large group of families and friends) was amazing mostly down to the patience and care give to us by Devonshire lodge hosts Glynnis and Nigel. The kids were made to feel welcome and catered for so well. This made a huge difference to us. The rooms were large, perfect for our family of 4, enough space not to be cluttered. The food (in huge portions) was fantastic and exactly what we needed after a day on the slopes.
The afternoon cake was a real bonus and something the kids looked forward to each day.
The hot tub was perfect for aching bodies.
The friendly, homey atmosphere made us all relaxed and it really did feel like home from home. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble and all our whims and requests were catered for. Tosh was ever helpful with advice on equipment and local information. The 'hot chocolate' was a big hit as was the home made Raki....be warned though, it makes you snore!
I would quite happily recommend this lodge to all my friends and we are already looking at dates for next year. Bansco is a great resort and offers good runs for all levels.

Room Tip: We had room 2 with double bed and bunkbeds, right opposite the lounge/bar. Quiet and perfect for kee...

a warm family welcome was waiting for us at Devonshire Lodge! great accommodation with a superb hot tub. Lovely food and outstanding cake. Everything you need for a winter or summer holiday in the mountains. we were looked afer like family, and Nigel and Glynis' experience and expertise made our transition into a first snow sport holiday easy. we were taken through the whole lift pass / and ski hire process comprehensively which was a real help. Bansko is a great resort to learn snowsports and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. thank you

From the moment I first contacted Glynnis I was struck by how helpful and flexible she was. Nothing was too much trouble. From talking me through getting rid of the cookies when I booked the flights, to snow updates, to laying on sandwiches because we were arriving late at night. This attention to detail and helpfulness continues throughout our stay. What a great team, very chilled and friendly . Food was delicious even for the fussy eaters in our group. Homemade cakes everyday were amazing. Honesty bar was very good value and everyone felt very comfortable hanging out next to the lovely log fire chatting, drinking, playing on the games consoles, watching TV or DVDs. Very relaxed. All the transfers worked out perfectly and Tosh or Nigel took you every morning to the Gondola and were waiting for you whenever you were ready to come back down the mountain and home for hot chocolate (laced with Baileys), cake and hot tub for the aching muscles. Bansko is a lovely town. We were there for New Year and after a lovely meal joined Glynnis, Nigel and Tosh and some of the other chalet guests for midnight celebrations and an incredible firework display in the Market Place. We had a great time. The other guests were a really good bunch too and we got on well. The kids had an amazing time and said it was the best holiday they had been on ever (high praise when they had recently come back from a fantastic trip to Eurodisney).
6 out of 7 of our group had never been skiing before and one of the group was pretty experienced but hadn't been for 20 years. All of us found the ski resort perfect for our needs and the ski packages were incredible value for money. We got great flights direct from Newcastle airport to Sofia and this worked out really well in the end. We had a fantastic holiday and can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: Try to get the family room if travelling with kids

Two of us (young married couple (25-28) stayed at the Devonshire Lodge over New Year. The place is much larger than it looks on the photos and the rooms are a very good size and very cosy (one minor thing to point out if you are like me and like to be constantly connected to wifi for work/play,etc then ask for a room closer to the main house, there is wi-fi but we couldn't get it in our room because we were at the back, no issue though because you have 24 hour access to the main house next door and the signal is strong there). There's also a huge hot-tub outside the rooms.

The place is owned and run by Glynis and Nigel (a wonderful couple) and their Bulgarian friend Tosh who they have known almost 20 years.

All 3 of them play their role/s and are so serving to their guests - they must be working 20 hour days every single day 365 days a year! Glynis is a wonderful cook serving up big full breakfasts every morning and 3 course meals in the evening (as well as freshly made different cakes every afternoon). Unfortunately I was carrying a bit of a bug the whole stay and hardly ate anything but even though i wasn't eating so much it all looked amazing and now fully recovered i'm regretting that!

Nigel and Tosh are the guys that are running everyone back and forwards up to the ski gondala all day and helping you get your equipment and pointing directions out (I've heard they even chip in with the washing up from time to time :)

All 3 are constantly running around after their guest to make sure you are having a great time and they just want you to relax. We all went out over New Year and Glynis took bottles of champagne so we could enjoy the fireworks in the main square, it was a really good new years eve. Nigel was the last man standing in the Irish Pub (Irish Harp - highly recommended) at 5am, what a legend!

If you are going to Bansko then i would highly recommend the Devonshire Lodge for the rooms; facilities; food and all round hospitality and company. Oh and there is also an "Honesty Bar" where you can help yourself to the fully stocked drinks fridge and bar (loads of different high end spirits to suit all tastes), for about a £1 per beer/wine or £1.50 for a double spirit with mixer you can't got wrong!

We stayed here for a week over New Years and had a truly unforgettable experience! Within the first hour we felt so welcome it felt like we were part of the Devonshire lodge's extended family.

Glynnis is a sublime cook and we enjoyed amazing three course dinners all week. The guys also make sure everything is taken care of so you can focus on having a good time, enjoying the ski and après ski!

The small touches such as having an afternoon cake waiting for you and the outdoor hot tub make it a wonderful place to relax after a day on the slopes!

Bansko is a lovely place with lots of things to do and great snowboarding. We have only been home one day and are already planning our return trip!
