A well kept, clean hotel close to the ski lifts and the town centre, but far enough away to not be disturbed by the varied night life of Bansko. Facilities are very good, ice skating rink one side, bowling alley the other. Swimming pool is large enough for families, with a decent sized gym, sauna and steam room. Food is varied and plentiful.

My husband and I are here for a 3 night, 3 day, ski vacation. We arrived at around 2:30 am with a small group and there was only one person to check us all in - she told us to leave our passports and pick them up the next day. My husband, a seasoned traveler told her no, and she said, 'fine, then you'll have to wait'. She was rude and snobbish. I don't know what she was doing with all the passports over night but we got our passports back - be alert.
The hotel is in an excellent location. The view is great and its a short walk to the ski place, restaurants and entertainment. There is a pretty and quaint balcony to view the bustling streets. The room smells like industrial carpet cleaner - very stuffy. The beds are old and uncomfortable. The sheets are only covering 70% of the ancient and dirty mattress and mattress pad and there are nauseating curly black hairs all over the 30% exposed part. The sheets are coarse and have some stains. There is no personal air control in the room so it's very hot and stuffy. We slept with the door open last night to release the stench and get air. The breakfasts and dinners are very meager and the hotel has the audacity to charge for beverages at dinner. They don't even have glasses to drink water... This is not a 4 star hotel. They are saving their pennies and wasting their dollars.
So to summarize: 1) rude staff 2) smelly rooms 3) terribly uncomfortable and old mattresses 4) dirty and exposed mattress 5) meager food choices 6) charges money for water at dinner. 7) no personal air controls in the room so if you're too hot or too cold, it's too bad.

Strazhite hotel offered the best. Yet I am taking my time to mention a verbal incident that should be avoided by management in future in the favor of the excellence. The staff that is working in maintaining the swimming pool and sauna center inside the hotel in an occasion was very rude. They screamed to us customers loudly with no need. Basically these guys are not very customer oriented: there is no ‘sorry’ and ‘please’ in their vocabulary. Management of the hotel should treat the issue! Otherwise the rest of the time, all was great and fun. The holiday expectations achieved.

Pros: good location with easy walk to the skating rink and gondola in one direction and to the small town square in the other; comfortable lobby with good bar service and great hot chocolate; nice pool, sauna, and steam room; half board (breakfast/dinner) is convenient, especially for families with small kids

Cons: noisy, flashy street (ask for a room facing the inner courtyard), rooms are overheated, food is adequate but nothing special

Overall: well worth the stay for comfort and convenience. We would stay here again.

We are a family of 4 (kids 10 and 12) and stayed here 21/12/13-28/12/13.
Leva @2.3 = £1
A very good stay booked via Neilson at a very reasonable cost.
3 hours transfer from Sofia but didn't seem as long. 30 minutes break at a roadside café en route. Very smooth transfer. Ensure you take some Leva with you to buy anything here and also the holiday representatives require a 5 Leva deposit for each lift pass (refundable). Coach was a good standard with seatbelts and the roads were not as bumpy as I thought they might be.
We arrived quite late at 2230hrs and after booking in were provided with food from buffet earlier. Not great but at least something!
Our room was good, on the third floor and it had a mezzanine level with large singles pushed together. Downstairs sofa bed (not the most comfortable but slept on fine after a day's skiing) and shower room. The room had two LCD TV's, was very warm (adjustable) and a balcony with Mountain View. Clean with mini bar (space for you own drinks etc.). Dressing gowns provided and towels changed each day. Boot room great that dries kit each day and keeps it away from your room.
Hotel is well placed towards the top of the town and near shops/supermarkets etc. The only noticeable noise (with window/door open) was the ice rink nearby but this closes late evening so never disturbed sleep.
Attached is the bowling alley at 10 leva per person per game. There is also Pool and table tennis - one table but not useable as someone had stolen the bats and ball! (Should have brought some with us). In town there are some ‘adult’ entertainment bars but not in your face and also a bit of harassment from bar promoters on the street but a polite ‘no thanks’ is respected.
We walked the 300m to the Gondola each day so no need to wait for the shuttle bus unless you really need to. Ski hire next door to Gondola so all very compact. Modern equipment that fitted well. We ended up buying the kids ski helmets that cost us 80 leva each, so good value I thought.
The hotel was really excellent. The swimming pool, gym, sauna and steam room open 0800-2000 (flip flops required) were great each day after a day on the slopes. Bars and restaurant were clean and staff helpful. Food was okay, not what you get at home but we always found enough. Local supermarket was available to buy ‘nutella’ for the kids to have on toast etc. Pancake bar opposite Hotel was really good value!
Kids did 2x2 hrs school sessions each day for 6 days (1000-1200 and 1300-1500). Valentine with the ULEN Ski School was no less than brilliant. Patient and allowing breaks was a master class on how to teach kids who by day 2 were skiing off the mountain.
We went at the beginning of the season and only about half of the Pistes were open but we found that enough as a family. It was very mild (raining on 27/12/13) but canon made snow made the resort useable. We never had to queue for the Gondola or any other lifts at this time in the season but I can see that the Gondola could be a bit of a bottle neck when it gets busy.

We ate lunch on the mountain each day. Chicken kebab and chips plus drink about 13 leva. Beers were 6 (£2.40ish) hot chocolate 7 leva, so reasonable and kept us going.
Overall a very good experience. We did a couple of Neilson events (xmas party and quiz night) which were fun and we got to meet and mix with other families and we had a great time. Kids want to come back and ski again. We would certainly return to this hotel, we were impressed and it was really good value. In the words of my 10 year old Daughter, “it was epic.”

Good central location, excellent mini bus to ski rental and gondola. Very tasty food, lots of choice on offer, good sized swimming pool, massage available without the need to book. Well worth upgrading to a family type room with mezzanine floor, then can have sitting room for grown up time in the evening whilst child sleeps upstairs.

Only downside is 3 hour tfr from Sophia to get to Bansko..........however, it was worth it

Room Tip: Choose a mezzanine family room, more space and can chill out in the eve whilst children sleep upstai...

We spent Christmas 2013 in Bansko and the hotel was brilliant. IT was very clean and the facilities were perfect or a ski holiday.
The food was limited and a typical breakfast. If you want to eat out try the London Pub. Spencer will come and collect you from the hotel and bring you back again. You can contact them through facebook and sent a message.

Room Tip: choose a room at the side as the lifts can be confusing and aren't in the middle of the hotel...
