A superb property, up there with the best in the world, unsurprisingly part of the LHW alliance. We stayed two nights via a special offer and have done so on two previous occasions. The whole property radiates luxury in the public areas, although some of the decor in the lobby bar is questionable, but it's a matter of taste. The service in the restaurant during dinner, followed by drinks in the lobby bar was very good, similarly the following morning for breakfast. The hotel wasn't too busy as we were there just as the ski season was getting underway but before the Christmas rush. Food during both the buffet dinner and breakfast was excellent with a wide array of choices and quality ingredients.

My better half is a member of the GHA members club and due to this we were upgraded to a junior suite which was lovely and she even received a call offering her a free massage in the spa. A very nice and appreciated touch. Needless to say, she enjoyed the massage tremendously.

Our only criticism is that the ventilation in our room was noisy and the wall mounted system didn't seem to make any different, particularly to the temperature which was very hot during the nights. We ended up keeping the bedroom window slightly open, despite the cold temperatures outside. However, for the price paid, we can't complain and were treated splendily.

This is a destination hotel and reason enough to visit Bansko.

Eleven of us travelled to this hotel from England for our Christmas break. The hotel was just as expected and the staff were always very polite and helpful - that said, it would have been nicer to see the bar staff and restaurant staff crack a smile!! The only person to actually smile at us (apart from management) was MARIA who worked in the lounge bar - she always made us feel at home and very welcome.
We had upgraded our rooms to the Alpine suites which were lovely although there were various problems with the luxury bathroom that you wouldn't expect from a 5* hotel. The shower just dribbled out and ran hot and cold and the jacuzzi bath constantly leaked from underneath and flooded the floor. The hotel were very compliant and sent a maintenance man whenever we asked so we can't fault them for trying - it's just a shame the bathroom fittings weren't built to a higher standard.
The hotel was ridiculously hot - everyone complained about it - all the controls in the room did nothing and the hot air just continually pumped out. You couldn't open the windows as the whole of Bansko was covered in a thick smog that stunk like a bonfire and made it hard to breath. We were told that this was something to do with a freak weather cycle - I'm not so sure. Every building is pumping out black smoke from their open fireplaces.
We found the staff at the hotel were always helpful whenever we asked for anything. The guys down in the boot room were very accommodating although the guy trying to sell us lift passes, gondola passes, lessons and ski equipment was not as easy to get on with. When we asked for a map of the piste we were told there had been an error at the printers and there were no maps. He was very misleading when it came to the VIP pass and seemed desperate to sell us the pass as 'it was going to get so busy soon' - As there was hardly any snow and the temperature had risen so the snow cannons couldn't work, it WAS NOT busy and the VIP pass was a waste of money. Ski-ing wasn't fantastic but that was due to the lack of snow - there was enough for us to have a good time though. Later in the season, when the snow is good, I am sure it would be good enough for most skiers although the really good skiers may find it a little limited. Great Blue Run for sledging though - top to bottom!!
If you are thinking of going for your next year's Christmas Break, be very mindful of the 'compulsory Christmas Dinner'. The hotel INSIST you buy this meal at an extortionate price of 50 EURO's a head. I wish I had read the other review on here from someone who had insisted they DIDN'T PAY IT. The Dinner was awful, the atmosphere in the room was dire and the singer was pathetic. For that price it should have been waitress service with at least one complimentary drink. It was a self service buffet that was worse than on normal nights - AT TWICE the price - We found it a total let down and felt it was the one thing about the holiday that let this hotel down. We will be writing to the head office to ask for a refund or at least compensation - IT WAS THAT BAD - and then to be charged £6 for a bottle of water??!!!!
Resturants around are all pretty good - it's a little annoying how they constantly stand on the street and try to coax you in. The prices get better the further away you walk from the Gondola so walk at least 5 minutes before you find the restaurant you want. Average (good) price was about £14 a head including alcohol
Even though I have moaned (a little) the hotel is probably the best hotel to go to as it is situated right by the Gondola. Bansko is on a slope so the last thing we would have wanted to do was trek up those little lanes every day before we had even started skiing. If you don't ski, the hotel also has the most fantastic spa - heated inside and out swimming pools, jacuzzi - inside and out, steam rooms and sauna - couldn't fault it!
If we were going back to Bansko, I would stay in this hotel and I would definitely recommend it over every other hotel in the area. I think that possibly the Brits and the Americans have a slightly different view on what makes a 5* hotel - but for Bulgaria, this is a beautiful hotel to stay in and is 'Almost 100% perfect - but not quite!!'

Room Tip: Upgrade - it's worth it!! A mountain view is nice but none of the Alpine suites face the mounta...

We spent our Xmas vacation at the Kempinski Hotel in Bansko Boulgaria, this year, from the 24 to 30 Dec,and the experience was great!Skiing in Bansko and staying in this hotel was a combination that really was unforgettable! We put our boots in the ski room which is situated centimeters away from the snow and just meters from the gondola that would take us up to the pists! We bought our skilift cards from the hotel and automatically we had VIP access to the gondola! This means that is absolutely no waiting to take the Gondola!
(they have the most polite people working in the ski room, where they took care our skis and boots!BRAVO!!)
The personell of the hotel was more than polite to all guests, very helpfull and true professionals.
The breakfast served was excellent and you could find pretty much everything in the large buffet!A cook made fried eggs and omelettes on the spot. The spa was great, very well kept, and pretty clean despite the fact that we were too many visitors everyday. The rooms were spacious, large bathrooms, with both shower and bathtub.
The Xmas dinner was also very tasty from a large variety of food served on the buffet.
The housekeeping was exceptional, and in the afternoon they would revisit the rooms to take care if something was wrong and leave complimentary bottles of water.
we are definately coming back, and we are putting the Kempinski Bansko in our top list for a nice skiing vacation!!

Room Tip: If there is availability make reservations for the rooms that face the mountaih. If it is clear the v...

This is our second visit to the same hotel
Very good again the environment and the Holliday atmosphere
Two things I took care this time
When you book the rooms they oblige you to have the Christmas Eve or the Christmas night dinner at the hotel at the price of 50€ per person
We had this last year because we expected something glamorous ,but except the nice buffet and a very light music for one our nothing more ,no dance ,no party
So this year I demanded not to oblige us to this ,
The reception girl hade to talk to the manager and finally I had my reservation without dinner
We are a big family of 5 children so you can calculate the cost
And I specify again this dinner does not worth it
Last be carefully at the bill when you pay with visa in €
They charge you 20€extra for the transaction in leva and this the commotion of the Visa card that is charged to to the hotel not to us
In general this is the best hotel in Bansko

Dear Guest,

Thank you so much for your constructive feedback posted most recently on Trip Advisor. We are happy to see that you are one of our loyal guests keep returning back to our property. Having taking a note on last year's Christmas dinner feedback we have improved this year entertainment with having one of the Best Live bands in the country while offering a vast variety of Food dishes. I am sure that next Christmas you will be participating again in that special Event as the overall feedback we have today from our valuable guests is very positive indeed. Concerning your kind comment on Bansko transaction I have taken the liberty to check the case personally and it appears that the Bank has charged the specific amount. I would highly recommend to check the respective charge as soon as you get back home. Once again we would like to thank you for your loyalty and straightforwardness and we are looking forward to welcoming you again at Kempinski Grand Arena Bansko.
