Food was very good. Mexican food is available, authenticity is debatable. Quality of steak sampled, quite good for Bulgaria. Reasonable price. Good location near top of the town in the area where other restaurants generally ridicule tourists.

The hotel has a good placement, on the main street, close to the main skilift Bansko, less than 5 minutes walk and near the city center. Clean and spacious rooms, almost fully equipped (no hair dryer). Staff were very helpful and friendly.
The food in the restaurant is very good and a large variety of dishes, local, italian, mexican, etc.

Best deal for the money.

Stayed here for 7 nights and booked through booking.com. Room rate worked out at about £28 per night incl breakfast VAT & taxes.

The hotel is small, around 14 rooms and it’s a relatively new building. I’m sure the building was not there the last time I visited Bansko in 2006 & again in 2007.

We chose this hotel for its location in relation to the Gondola. It’s around 400mtrs away, and also just 200mtrs away from the jnc of Pirin St – the main street in the town.

The hotel is rather basic. There’s a small ski locker and sauna in the basement.

Breakfast is waiter served in the “steakhouse” on the ground floor. I was hoping for a buffet style but it was not. You had to ask for everything. Extra milk, butter portions, tea, coffee water etc. If you wanted extra you had to ask. This was not to my liking. Buffet style would have been preferred. Service however, was good. A rather odd breakfast – see the pic. Nice enough.
Hotel has free wifi which worked well in throughout the entire hotel.

The rooms are basic, clean, carpeted. However they are small and for 2 people with 1 suitcase and 2 carry ons – there simply wasn’t enough storage.

The furniture is cheap flat-pack and will not withstand constant customer use. In a few more years the whole lot will need replacing. In our room there were electrical sockets hanging off the walls, the coffee table was not sturdy, the bathroom door edge had warped through water damage. The balcony door handle had broken and one of the bedside lights was broken. All in a building which is just a few years old.

In addition, the curtains were not adequate enough to keep the light out. And for me the worst point, totally inadequate soundproofing. You can hear people talking in the corridors, walking along in boots etc – and it was happening at all hours. Some simple carpet runners would have solved a lot of that. The corridors and stair well are bare tiled floors.

During one early evening the hot water went off. Totally unacceptable.
Mini-bar in room.

NOTE – take out the mini bar – put in tea/coffee maker instead. We took our own which proved invaluable.

The hotel did provide us with some fresh milk when ours ran out and they did make up breakfast packs for us for our early departure. Both check-in and check-out were simple. Staff were very pleasant and polite.

The rooms were made up daily. Fresh towels etc. However, upon our check-in, we discovered the bin had not been emptied from the previous guests – it contained used baby nappies. NOT pleasant.

I can only score my experience as average due to the noise/storage/maintanance issues.

For me, the only reason if I were to stay again, would be the location. NOTHING else.

Tips: Request a top floor room. Take travel kettle. Take earplugs.

Room tip: Request a top floor room for less noise. Theres only 3 floors. Take travel kettle. Take earplugs.

I stayed at Lazur hotel & restaurant (steak house) at christmas time and still is very good choice and even better. The staff is very pleasant and helpfull for any kind of our demand. Also the restaurant is very good with a variety at the menu but little expensive for Bulgarian average. About 15€ per person for a complete excellent steak meal. This hotel is my choice for Bansko the last two years...

This place serves a lovely steak with a variety of sauces. Expensive by local standards, 25 lev for a steak ( about £11.00) but worth it for the quality. Clean and warm, pleasant staff and good beer. All in all most acceptable.
