“Good value hotel if you are skier”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2013

Very good location if you are a skier. The location is perfect to use the gondola lift. The rooms are comfortable with good breakfast. Spa is excellent. Friendly staff. There is a ski shop/rental with good ski teachers. The restaurant is good too, but just in front of the Sport hotel there is tavern with tasty meals-in a good price.

Room Tip: Higher floors are better- not noise.

We stayed here for a week at Christmas. Hotel in great spot for the gondola, as mentioned in other reviews. Room was lovely, restaurant good...albeit a little repetitive, but we ate out a couple evenings anyway. Spa treatments heavenly!
The only thing I have to critisize is the noise from the kareoke downstairs...late at night....if only they could've turned it down a tad! HOWEVER...would use this hotel again, just take earplugs!

We had an unfortunate start to our visit, due to the original hotel we booked cancelling our reservation without telling us (green life - avoid). After stopping on a pull out bed in a family members apartment, we managed to book two nights in a junior suite at this hotel. First impressions were excellent, foyer is very smart. Staff were helpful and we booked in with no dramas. The hotel has a fabulous location, right next to the gondola and a 5 minute walk from lots of bars and restaurants. The room was fantastic. Comfy bed, nicely decorated and very large. The bathroom was modern and nicely decorated. The breakfast was good, a large range of different food so you should find something! The spa is free to use, you only have to pay for treatments. The spa itself is lovely, only criticism is the pool was far too cold, but someone told me this is how they like it in Bulgaria. The price for the room was also very reasonable considering the quality of the hotel. Would definitely visit again if in Bansko, although that is highly unlikely!

Room Tip: Junior suite was good, cannot vouch for other rooms.

I stayed here over the new years holiday, and expected more given the other reviews. MPM Sport has ONE good thing going for it: location. It's right near the ski lift. Okay, now on to the average:
1) Spa Centre. The mens changing area is a mess. Not enough lockers, no keys, and the area was flooded with dirty water. I almost slipped as I entered! They never mop/clean the spa floor. Seems best for kids/families, as the accoustics are poor, so it easily becomes noisy anyway (and not very relaxing) when there are many people. Otherwise, the spa was reasonable
2) Rooms. They lied on room sizes on booking.com - there is no junior suite. There are standard double rooms with different configurations. The "junior suite" is also NOT 40sqm, its 30sqm. Even the hotel manager told me that. So, don't pay more - get the standard double. Rooms also had very little amenities: poor bath items, no slippers, no robe, no kettle, no glasses, no tea/coffee, no iron, etc. I DID get these items after asking, however.
3) Breakfast. Totally average. What can you say, when the juice is fake? I always find that as a good overall quality indicator.
4) Ski store. Overpriced - go down the street for much better deals on ski rental.
5) Irish pub. Average again. Reasonable priced Guinness, but food is sub-par. Service was fine, though.

Overall - pretty average! Not up to 4-star international standards, however.

We stayed at the Sport Hotel for Christmas and had a great time. The hotel was clean, the staff were very friendly and the food, was very nice (although if you're a vegetarian the choices are slightly limited). It's a few minutes walk to the gondola station and then approx 20 mins ride to the ski slopes, you can ski back down though straight to the ski rental building. The ski school instructors all spoke English and the groups were small.
My advice for new skiers would be not to tighten the ski boots until you're ready to ski otherwise your shins will be wrecked by day 2!!!!
Definitely recommend this hotel and would return there in a flash.

Room Tip: We were on the third floor and overlooked the slopes. We had no problems with noise at all.

Great Hotel, I am impressed by people saying that the breakfast had not a great variety. This is not true, we were two couples that travelled from December 23 to December 26th 2012. We stayed in rooms number 1 and 2 in ground floor, and although we were in the ground floor, the rooms had great view to the snow and gondolas. The rooms are exrtemely spacious, with a sofa and two armchairs, rooms are pleasantly hot and new. Loby is great with a fire place and a bar and comfortable armchairs and sofas. Staff (in reception, loby, bar, restaurant, and spa) is very friendly, helpfull, and english speaking. Food in the restaurant (we have not tried the Irish pub) is Great, We eat there all three nights, and they had a great variety of everything (soups, salads, cold and hot starters, main courses including fish and meat, cheeses and sweets) I have already tried the bulgarian kichen in other places, and I can tell you that food in the hotel was much more tastefull. We ate there even for the Xmas Gala, that was including turkies and traditional pork . The spa facilities are great as well, piscina was big enough , facing the snow, free use of sauna, turkish bath and hamam, we had an aloe massage at a cost of aprox 50 euro, great as well (Toni thank you, my back is hurting less now). Last but not least, the great advantage, as mentionned by others, is its location, ski in ski out hotel, you can get down to the gondola with your skis, and come back from the pists, through the ski road to the hotel, and leave your skis next to the Head Shop (they have a guarded area for ski deposit). We will visit this hotel again for sure.

Room Tip: ask for a studio with a view

Just had a fantastic holiday at the Sport Hotel , Bansko.
Apart from the Kempinski , next door this is the only genuine ski in ski out accommodation in Bansko.Just put your skis on and its a few seconds to the gondola . Ski storage is in the Head Shop within the hotel , this was safe and very handy. The staff in here are knowledgeable and helpful , they also offer very competetive rental rates.
Our room was huge , 2 double bedrooms , 2 bathrooms and kitchen/ lounge , it could easily have slept a family of 5 or 6 .The hotel is new so everything is clean and in good order. as reported before the bathrooms are modern and the showers are good with plenty of hot water, the weather outside was very cold but inside the hotel everywhere was warm.
Housekeeping do a good job cleaning the rooms and restocking toiletries everyday . The bathrobes in the room were very handy for using the spa downstairs, where the indoor pool is warm and clean and , as are the roman baths, saunas, and steam room all of which are free and there are all manner of treatments available for extra charge.
Breakfast is a buffet style in the main restaurant and other meals are available in the bar, restaurant or Irish Pub in the basement. If you fancy venturing out there are many and varied restaurants all within walikng distance of the hotel.
Car parking is available at the hotel although we didn't need it.
All in all excellent value for money , will definitely return !
