We have been there back in January, it was for the fourth year in a row.
Compared to the years before (2010 - 2012) hotel was the same but this time the service was terrible.
- We came from Romania by car; outside parking place is no longer free but you have to pay; rate is 200 BGN (approx 100 EUR) for 6 days, which seems very high; hotel has its own parking in the basement, and you would expect that one to be free, but is not; rate is 90 BGN a week (45 EUR); it is not a huge amount but nobody told us this from the very begining;
- Speaking about hotel parking, the place is very narrow so that whenever one want to get out it could be possible you will be called to the basement to move your car; our cars where blocked by another ones and the evening before we left we asked the reception to find the other owners and ask them to move the cars for next morning; next day it was our lucky one, we met the owners of the other cars in the parking and they told us nobody informed them to move the cars; if we were not at the right place at the right time we were to stay another day, with cars blocked in the basement... The girl in reception said she forgot ...
- Pool was fine as before, but this time you don't get any bathrobe; if you are lucky to have your own robe that's fine, otherwise you go to the pool fully dressed in jeans etc. No towels available at the pool, don't forget to take a towel with you from the room...
- No bathing caps in the rooms this time; we have insisted to reception and finally we got just 2 (we were 4 ...); this is not necessary a must but the hotel says it has four stars so you would expect to get a service for four stars, even bulgarian stars...
- Wet sauna didn't work, the door was missing and a poster said that hotel appologize but "some rude customers have broken the door from sauna"; I don't know how complicated is to replace a door at a sauna, but for staff in Vihren it took more than a week;
- Jacuzzi next to the pool didn't work; when asked why we just got the answer "it doesn't work"; why do they keep it there, if it doesn't work longer ?
- The most terrible thing this year was the food; ok, it wasn't excellent the years before, but this time one had to be really starving in order to eat that; breakfast was the same for a full week, in the sense that what was not eaten today was kept and served again tomorrow (cheese, tomatoes, sausages, boiled eggs); this is true and I do not exagerate in any way. But even more terrible was the dinner; the most disgusting food I ever seen or tasted.
- No smoking place anywhere inside the hotel; if you're a smoker than you'll be smoking just outside.
- All drings, including beverages, are very expensive; the beer that cost 0.8 BGN in the shop is sold with 5 BGN at the bar in the hotel, i.e. 6 times more.

Overall our winter holiday was fine because of the weather, slopes and the fun we had; we plan to go to Bansko many times from now on, is very convenient for people from Romania; but we are very sure we'll not stay again at Vihren Palace; this is what we also reccomend to you.

Room Tip: For a family with kids is much more convenient to take two interconnected studios rather than a two...

I was in the hotel in Match 2013. The hotel and service are well but there is problem with internet. We stayed at first floor room 123 and we had very poor wifi. Just when you stand near the door you get internet with disconnections enough for "whats up" and "skype" without video and bad quality . In the lobby internet was much better but also with disconnections.
Jacuzzi in the spa doesn't work.

The biggest advantage of this hotel is it's location. Quiet close to the lifts and restaurants. The breakfast is quite poor and doesn't change from day to day at all.
The parking place cost 8 euro pro night and you'd better pay this amount because otherwise they take your car with a wrecker extremely fast. There are loads of them in this small city.
Surprisingly they have extremely delicious desserts in the lobby bar.
The biggest peculiarity is that they do not give more than one key (card) for the room. After the little scandal we've got the second card (fot the appartments for 3 people). To get the third key was totally impossible.
The staff at the reception desk is not very friendly.

To sum up, I would say that it is a really 50/50 choice. This hotel has some advantages and some disadvantes.

P.S. If you'll live in the distant building, you'll have either to walk outside till the reception desk and for the breakfast or to learn an extremely intricate route through the main buildingю And there is no wi-fi in the distant building.

It is expensive if you compare it with other hotels in Bansko and the service that offers. The good things are the posittion (near lift station) and the breakfast. There is parking in the hotel BUT not available most of the time (!!!) so, you have to leave the car outside and pay more! Bad internet WiFi. The rooms at other hotels in Bansko are bigger in that price. Also, they didn't gave as a receipt when we paid in cash!

We had a very spacious room and very satisfied with the great location to the gondolas and the shopping area..This year the heating was very convenient.. And the wifi was OK.. Only the breakfast was average contrary to the service we were given. Would definitely choose this hotel next year!

+: large rooms with balcony, good service, pool and spa, close to ski lift and Bansko center
-: all beds are separate, jacuzzi didn't work whole week, phones in our rooms didn't work also. Breakfast is not so rich
