“Wonderful Place, Warm Welcome... and Sweet Donkeys!!”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

We stayed here for one night last year on the way to Provence, and a short little touring of South Burgundy including Tournus and Cluny. We had a wonderful stay at Les Darbonnets. The host and hostess were lovely. We did the Table d'hote, and the dinner was wonderful, unfortunately there were no other guests that night. The room is beautiful, and the lovely breakfast is highlighted by 10 different confitures, all homemade and grown in their garden!!

The best part was meeting their sweet pet donkeys! They keep them as pets, and they are very friendly and of course love getting their treats. So cute!

If you are in this area and want a lovely place to stay, charming hosts, and wonderful food, do not miss Les Darbonnets!

We stayed in the guest house in September while returning from the Languedoc to UK/Scotland. Charming proprietors Dominique and Charles gave us a warm welcome and we had a beautiful and well appointed room. The whole house is fascinating; it exudes character and a relaxed atmosphere. Les Darbonnets is most thoughtfully decorated, and its story is told in a booklet in the room and in photographs displayed on the stairs. We were very comfortable indeed. Breakfast was great, it was difficult to try all the interesting home made jams and honeys, but we tried! The honey with propolis was for me outstanding and I bought a big jar, along with smaller jars of fig and apricot/thyme jams. Charles makes sweets, as well as the honeys and jams, in his interesting workshop. There is a magnificent garden too.
Les Darbonnets is really well positioned in relation to the road network and made a great stopover for us; the house was easy to find from the website instructions. Would love to have the chance to go back.
