Took this hike in Oct 2012. Fall colors were great and the view is amazing. Word of caution: get good directions as there is no road marked Cave Mountain Road. Take County Rd 9560 off Hwy 21S (near Boxley Baptist Church). Follow this dirt road approx 6 miles. Do not forget camera!

I have hiked this trail several times. It's a relatively easy trail to hike. The grandparents have even came along with us.

The trails now have green, "street-sign" like markers. There are lots of directions on the internet, but from Highway 21 South after you pass "Boxley Baptist Church" look for the green street sign that says "9560." There is nothing to date that says "Cave Mountain Road" so again, be on the lookout for "9560" and then head 6 miles up this road and yes it is rather steep for the first two miles or so then it is much easier. People concerned on whether or not your car will make it....well, I have a "Camry" and it was just fine. You don't need 4wd/awd but if you have a low sitting vehicle like a Miata or a Cooper this isnt' a great road for your car. It is absolutely worth the effort of getting there. For those of you with older vehicles make sure and turn off your air conditioner that first two miles so you don't overheat!! Gorgeous, gorgeous place; one of my favorites anywhere! Enjoy!!

It's a bit of a hike to get there, but the scenery is beautiful when you reach the crag and on the trail there.
