At $325.00 night for two bedroom cabin it was way over priced. The cabin was comfortable however the weather happened to be cold, wet, windy and rainy. Our fireplace didn't function properly and smoked up the entire cabin. We had noticed the front of fireplace was smoked up before starting fire.
Arkansas has some beautiful scenic views and our family truly enjoys them however Mount Magazine will not be one to repeat.
Our money would have been much more wisely spent driving over Talimena drive and spending night in Talihina, ok which is what we did after leaving Mount Magazine.

Although we missed most of the trees, it was still a beautiful stay at the Lodge. All the rooms have views and we were lucky enough to get one with a balcony. The rooms are clean and well maintained. We has fresh soap and towels each day. It was quiet and the pool/hot tub area was also clean and well maintained. We hiked one day on well marked trails plus there were other activities although we did not participate in any of these. We plan to return next fall with hopes of hitting the peak color time.

Room Tip: Ask for one with a balcony. The sunrise and sunsets are gorgeous!

12 members of my family stayed here this past weekend to celebrate my moms 80th birthday! The staff was friendly the entire time. The rooms were very nice with gorgeous views! The scenery was so pretty. We ate all our meals at the Lodge. The food I'd give a B on that is the only reason I didn't rate this a 5. The breakfast buffets in the morning I'd rate an A. The buffet one night a B and one night we ordered off the menu and I'd say a B rating as well. Would have liked a little more choices but the food was good. The servers were so nice and helpful. We did some hiking and that was very enjoyable! The kids loved the big indoor pool and the slide with it. The adults loved the hot tub.
I will say that we didn't pass one staff member in this Lodge that didn't smile and say hello to us! A very enjoyable weekend for us. My mom was very happy with her birthday and all 12 of us said we would come back. Gorgeous setting, Nice and clean rooms with views, fun to hike the trails, friendly staff....Thank you Mount Magazine Lodge!

Room Tip: I would advise you bring your own snacks, waters, drinks and keep in the room. The lodge is some dis...

The rooms are great, the setting is spectacular. The hiking is super. The restaurant in the lodge is a "B-". The food is OK, but you don't go there for the food. We stayed in the main lodge, not the cabins and the rooms were very nice. The large indoor pool was a special surprise.

There's absolutely nothing rustic about this great park lodge. We stayed in cabin #10, which is furthest from the lodge lobby. You drive your car to your private parking spot directly in front of your cabin. The cabins are very well separated - I'd say 75'+ apart - so you'll have nothing to do with your neighbor and have pretty much total privacy. Our one bedroom cabin was large, new, and spotless. It was perhaps 20' from the edge of the mountain and offered wonderful views of the valley and lake below.

The cabin has a complete kitchen, a living room, a large stone fireplace that burns real wood (supplied), a large separate bedroom, a pretty large bathroom, and a large deck. The deck has a dining table and 4 chairs and a hot tub. There is also a gas BBQ.

We couldn't have been happier with these accommodations. When I think of park lodges, I think of places like Bryce Canyon or Grand Canyon with their very old, small, and poorly maintained cabins. There's nothing like that here. Our friends stayed in a regular room ion the lodge building and they commented that their room was huge also. I would certainly recommend the cabins.

The dining room was also very nice with a nicely varied menu. They do not accept reservations. We got there 45 minutes before sunset and all the window tables were taken. However, we no sooner had our first course served than almost all of those window tables became available. So it may pay to just wait for a window table, which certainly offer a spectacular view. The food was good, not horribly expensive, and the service was excellent. They offer only wine and beer- no hard alcohol.

Room Tip: Choose a cabin vs. a room. All the cabins looked like they had good locations.

We had a fabulous time at Mount Magazine in October. The fall colors were amazing. It was so pleasant sitting on our balcony in the morning looking out at an amazing view. The room was pricey, but nice -well appointed. We were traveling with friends and they put us on either side of a small gathering room. We loved being able to meet up in that room! It was perfect. The restaurant food was so so and the service was slow, but we weren't in any hurry, so it didn't bother us. We hiked several of the trails and then soaked in the hot tub in the evenings. Nice place!

PROS: stunning lodge and views, super clean, friendly staff, large rooms, wonderful balconies, ample parking, multiple entrances (easy to/from vehicle), quiet rooms.

CONS: large Jacuzzi tub in our room which we considered to be out of place and a bit of an eyesore for such a beautiful room. I wish it was in the bathroom. The restaurant food was pretty awful except for breakfast buffet and simple sandwiches. This is a problem since there are no local alternatives.
