We really enjoyed our stay with Kathy and Grant. The grounds are amazing and there is much to see and do just on their property alone: peacocks, swans, ducks, bunnies, three pampered dogs, and a charming cat. I hear there are also tame eels, but I didn't seek them out. A stream runs along the property and a pond serves as a gathering place for the swans and ducks.
The room was airy and clean. The bedding was extremely comfortable with a view of the garden and some amazing maple and elm trees. The water pressure and shower head were quite welcome after staying at many B&Bs that worked off catchment systems. The breakfast, cooked by Grant, was both delicious and generous. Our hosts also thoughtfully put out quick foods for us on our last morning as we had to leave early for our flight.
Kathy is very helpful with suggestions and information about the area and Christchurch, and the location is fantastic for those who need to fly out: 30 minutes to the terminal. It is also close to Christchurch (maybe 25 minutes) but far enough away to feel relaxed and laid-back.
We could certainly recommend Silverstream and would return if the opportunity arose.More
