First ever visit with friends who live nearby. Amazing welcome from the proprietor followed by food 'to die for'. Never before have I had liver and bacon served in such a mouth-watering fashion. And if the quality of the food was not enough to shout about the 'value' for such an amazing meal was beyond belief.

We came here to have a roast dinner as the reviews of this restaurant were excellent. However I am sorry to say that we were disappointed! The starter of leak and potato soup was the highlight of the meal as it was edible. However we all then ordered a roast "topside" of beef, which turned out to be a "rib" of beef, which was all fat and no meat. It was a shame because the staff were friendly but the dining area where we were eating was too cold! Overall our meal was disappointing and we definitely won't come back here again!

My wife and I were staying down the road at the Swiss Cottage B&B and decided to take a short (10 minute) walk to the local pub. After a wasted trip on Sunday night (they were closed!) we went again on the Monday and had a very good meal. The portions were very generous and it was obvious that the food was locally prepared and cooked. I especially enjoyed the fish pie and the apple and blackberry crumble. The menu was fairly short which shows that they are not trying to be over-ambitious for a local, but all the food we had was of high quality. All that and Adnams beer as well!

Very welcoming pub/restaurant, staff very helpful and only to pleased to answer our questions. The meal we ordered was really nice and we didn't wait long for our meal. All meals were reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

An excellent traditional pub with two choices of Adnams ale and a superb menu at reasonable prices. It was great to see every table occupied and the business is clearly thriving.
