Owner description: During a visit to Chiloe Island over 15 years ago, and during his work as an agronomist, Juan Pablo knew straight away that one day he will go back and settle down at this amazing area, was then when Chiloetnico began as a small tourism agency focused in outdoor activities with a strong emphasis on the living culture of the island: its people. In 2007 he met Karin and together decide to innovate and to give a new impetus to Chiloetnico, thereby becoming the first tour operator specialized in cyclotourism on Chiloe Island, and finally in 2009 they settled Chiloetnico’s base of operations permanently in the city of Castro. Since then, Chiloetnico’s tourism agency has never stopped looking for new ways to innovate its tours, designing day trips and long-term programs that roam the island, which not only show the infinite beauty of its geography, that it seems to change with every tide, but also, showing the idiosyncrasies of the people who lives here, so all our programs and tours will link you not only with the landscape and nature, as well with the local food, people, stories and of course, all the outdoor activities that Chiloe Island has to offer. Whether walking or pedaling, we firmly believe in transmit travel experiences that enrich and create consciousness through the respect for local communities, its environment and history.

Juan Pablo is a great guy and Tour Operator. He is a very good guide, professional, helpful and with a variety of tours to chose from. I contacted him through email and he arranged a trip in a very short notice.

The experience is well worth it, from the small bus and the scenic routes to the restaurant choices. You can ask almost anything, Juan Pablo is well educated in almost everything Chiloe!.

Highly recommended, and you can save yourself some time by contacting him in advance.

“Friendly, smart, attentive guide in Chiloe.”
Reviewed November 27, 2013

My wife and I spent a full day with Juan Pablo and also went on a bike ride that he arranged. Juan Pablo is a wonderful person and an excellent tour guide whose company you will enjoy. Not only does he know the island of Chiloe well, his English is nearly perfect, and as an agronomist, he knows everything about the agriculture industry in the island, which is important because it is the main driving economic force of the island (although, I expect tourism will catch up to it).

Our first day with Juan Pablo was spent touring the churches and an introduction to the island. We learned a lot, saw plenty of churches, and ate at an excellent local restaurant. This theoretically could be done with a rental car, which we had, but we were very happy we hired Juan Pablo because we would never have learned so much without him.

The second trip we took through Juan Pablo was a bike ride across the island to the national park on the pacific coast. The bike ride is 40km, which we completed in about 3 hours. For bike enthusiasts, this is a must. The rolling hills of Chiloe are a bikers dream, and we loved this activity. Juan Pablo's bikes are in good condition. We ate at a small, family operated restaurant at our destination which was excellent and then took a short hike through the park to the beach. Great day.

If you are thinking about hiring a tour guide, look no further than Juan Pablo! He can take you on many other amazing sounding trips, and I get the feeling he can customize exactly what you want. If we go back, we will most certainly be in touch with Juan Pablo.

Hey, Juan Pablo, post some photos of yourself and your operation here!! I will add mine, but we forgot to take one together!
