“better on the inside”
Reviewed April 10, 2012

go inside as its much better than it looks from the front which is dirty.
The wood inside is amazing and lots of interesting statues and religous parafanalia

“Very nice, but a bit scary statues”
Reviewed March 5, 2012

It's a unique, wooden church. The decorators had a strange taste for dressing up the statues in the church. Funny!

“You have to see this”
Reviewed February 29, 2012

Chiloe is an experience in itself, amazing. There are many churches on the island but this really is a stunning masterpiece. Set in the centre of Castro on the central square it has a most unprepossessing exterior. However, step inside the doors and you really do have to stand and admire the interior. Made entirely of alerce the light bounces off the wood and the air just glows golden. The sheer craftsmanship is wonderful and there is so much to stand and look at. Take time to look into corners, look upwards to the roof - don't miss a thing. Enjoy!

“Amazing baroque churche built all in wood”
Reviewed January 21, 2012

The interior architecture of the church follows the style of Italian baroque churches with vaults, pillars and cupola, but everything is built in wood. The wood is not plastered, and all the amazing craftsmanship of the builders can be marveled at
