We arrived at Mama Gauchas on the night that Victor served his first house brewed IPA and it was a party! The IPA rates very good by any measure and the pizza better than many US pizzerias. The fun thing, though is flirting with the crowd. They are a raucous bunch in Coyhaique! Please stop by for a beer and tell Victor we sent you. He speaks excellent english (not many people in Patagonia have had any reason to learn!).

Convenient location right off the plaza. Great selection of salads as well and staff is very helpful. Very busy place, so go off hours.

Good beer and great pizzas... What more do you want? Due to it's location in the commonly gringo-frequented zone of the city, Mamma Gaucha has one of the better interiors of most restaurants in the city. The clean, inviting layout is well complimented by excellent music which is certainly not the norm in many venues of close proximity. The food was excellent, probably on the upper end of the price scale, but worth the cost. Service was impeccable; timely, friendly, and friendly to the English speaker. They have a range of regional artisanale beers and a well stocked bar. Definitely worth a look, even if just once.

It was ok. The restaurant was full on Tuesday night but this must be due to a lack of other options... It's a pizza/pasta restaurant but when we tried to order the lamb ravioli we were told that only one of the four pasta dishes was available.

We ordered a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon but were served a bottle of Caminiere in error.

The pasta was good but not great.

Overall average but given the other choices in the town, many of which allow smoking, I can understand why this is number one on TA.

Looks like every tourist in Coyhaique looks to be there. It is definitely a cool hand out place but crowded. At times difficult to get a table or quick service. A lot of more local restaurants probably offer greater value.
