My first time at sky could not be better. Excellent hotel and staff.
Even the weather was great. The ski week we had was awesome.

Transportation to the resort:
Getting to Chillan is long....you have to take almost a 5 hours train ride from estacion central in Santiago and at Chillan station arrange for the hotel bus pick up for about 1 hours and 45 minutes ride. But once you get there the hotel is worth the trip. :)

Ski Terrain:
Mountains are big and pretty much unrestricted. There is no heli skiing but cat skiing options are available.

Hotel:
We stayed at the Gran Hotel and loved the accommodations. There were alot to do including casino, game room, fitness, a bar, great spa and heated in and outdoor pool that closed at 1am. If you go to the outdoor pool at night you can rest your tired muscles while watching the stars. :)

Room:
The rooms were extremely clean, spacious and had great big windows, average bathroom but big closets. Flat screen TV and free wifi.

Staff and overall Service:
Overall, very nice and attentive.

Food:
We only had 2 meals included. Breakfast was pretty big buffet and there are several restaurant choices for dinners. The food was overall very good. Lunch was reasonably priced($15-20 USD) and there are several options at the hotel as well as on the mountain.

Spa:
Great spa services with various massage options. The treatments were fairly cheap and making appointments was very easy. The spa and the pool really made this place special!

We were not given the room we paid for, but an inferior one next to the contaminated air extractor from the kitchen, that expelled the toxic gases and noisyfrom 6 AM to 11 PM..If you decided to go avoid by all means room 216 , 316and 318.The food is fine, not too good as it used to be.The room making up was erratic, usually late. The termal pool looks not well mantained, not very clean.Spa service is OK

The hotel itself is nice (if you like that style) in nice surroundings and we managed to get a good deal for an all inclusive 3 day week-end, but it resembles more a Butlin's resort than anything else. The animators(?) take to the microphone during lunch and dinner for announcements of activities and sing-alongs, which kind of made us cringe. I hope nobody recognised us!!
The food is average and the wine overpriced but I guess that if anyone wanted to have a sporty (cheesy?) week-end (everything is available in the surrounds) and stay in a comfortable all-inclusive hotel, then it would make sense - buit you would still have to bear the singing (and cringe)...
Free access to spa and thermal pool as well as to the casino was appreciated and used though.

Upon check-in, I had asked the front desk gal (with a major attitude problem) if the thermal baths were at THIS hotel...with a smirk, she responded, "of course". When I submerged myself in the "thermal pool" I couldn't help but notice the familiar odor of chlorine-only to be confirmed by a group of Chilean women who frequent the hotel every year that, indeed, the thermal pool was merely a heated swimming pool full of chemicals. So, for $280/night (and this is off season), I stayed in a hotel who's claim to fame was undergoing custody battles over the sulfur water with the hotel just 8 km away. Not only was I completely lied to, the hotel has continued to do business as if nothing has changed. I do not recommend this hotel; the amenities are nothing special and the hotel holds no character. The area seems secluded but if you just look around, you'll find much more affordable accomodations. Just a few km's above the Gran Hotel, there is a public pool where you can swim in natural sulfur water. The hotel below The Gran Hotel has had full ownership of the sulfur water since January 08, so I would recommend this hotel. I also stayed at the Thermal Baths of Cauquenes and this thermal bath hotel is much better! Nestled in the Andes foothills in a 1800 Colonial Style building with world famous chef serving an amazing ten course meal.
