The pros:
We got a free upgrade to a villa with a spacious room and an absolutely beautiful private pool.
The hotel's pool is big and beautiful and there's a large number of great sun beds.
The view of the sea is amazing.
It is very quiet, the beds are comfortable, you get good sleep.
Internet works in all areas of the hotel.
Restaurant prices for food and water are okay, other drinks are expensive.
The waves are very calm and the sea is shallow, therefore very safe for swimming, also for kids.
The cons:
You can only swim at high tide, the beach is full of sharp corals and the water isn't clear.
Lots of tiny bugs in the bathroom. Bring your own big spray to get rid if them.
The terrace doors can be opened from outside, they can't be locked.
No buffet breakfast. A la carte breakfast takes 30 minutes, portions are small and food isn't served at the same time.
It's a 45 minutes drive to the next town (Senggigi) and the hotel charges very high prices for tours and spa. Better arrange your tours with other operators and use the very cheap meter taxis (bluebird).
The service is a bit of a letdown and whilst they aren't unfriendly they seem somewhat careless and lack attention:
Cleaning service forgets to replace water, towels, coffee cups etc most of the days.
The young chap at the reception seems utterly confused about everything, couldn't find our reservation and couldn't manage to have our bags brought to our room so that we picked them up ourselves after 30 minutes.
Several of the waiters hardly understand English, They brought my food to the wrong room which was only clarified when I called them after one hour, after which I got my lukewarm burger and soggy french fries.
This hotel has the potential to be very nice if they invest in better staff, which certainly is available in Indonesia: We stayed at a 4* hotel in Bali with incredible attentive and genuinely friendly staff.
