We stayed here for 1 week in May for the beginning of our honeymoon. We could not have made a better choice. We were greeted in a lovely manner, and the manager immediately helped solve a problem that we had in Bali. The rooms were gorgeous, and the bathroom unbelievable. The sunken marble tub is unlike any I have ever seen. The food was amazing - absolutely delicious. They provide choices from the East and West. We never ate from the West menu (why go to Indonesia and eat what we already know?). The ristafel was huge, and amazing tastes combined in small plates. There is afternoon tea provided, where they make traditional types of desserts - do not miss it. Overall the staff were helpful, accomdating, friendly, and terrific. The beach butlers were fabulous - thank you to Banana and Sayu. Drop by the turtle santuary as well - we fed baby turtles (4 days old). I went to the spa , and had the absolutely best massage and facial. We would highly recommend this hotel for quiet, peaceful, relaxing times. The beach is a bit rocky, but they provide surfshoes for your use. If you want a change of scene you can walk to the end of the driveway and go to the Lombok Lodge for dinner. We did that as well, and it was a nice change. We hope to go back to the Oberoi one day!

We stayed here for the first 7 nights of our honeymoon and we will remember it forever. It is by far the most amazing hotel I've ever stayed in. The staff were so genuinely friendly and remembered our names from the first day.

We stayed in one of the villas with a sea view and it was HUGE! Would highly recommend. We particularly loved how housekeeping covered pretty much everything in little flowers every day. Such a nice touch. The room smelled of the gorgeous local flowers every day.

We ate in the restaurant most nights and the food was good. The food in the Tokek bar at lunch was also good. A two course meal for two in the evening costs around 1million - £80 ish. Wine is painfully expensive but we encountered that in all other top hotels we stayed in when on Bali. The BBQ on the beach is a must, as is dining underneath one of the Cabanas.

We went for drinks one night and then food the next in the neighbouring hotel Lombok Lodge. Ultra modern and has a sort of Mediterranean feel to it. It could be in a Bond movie as the baddy's house! The staff were super friendly. We had the tasting menu and it was the best meal we had all honeymoon. If we went back, we would certainly stay a few nights in the Lombok lodge as well as a few in Oberoi. In mid-season, I understand the two hotels sometimes run a 'room-swap', where guests can stay in the other hotel for a night, and vice versa.

The hotel gardener breeds turtles! If you ask, you can launch them into the sea at the beginning or end of the day.

I can't possibly fault this place!

We stayed there for 4 days and was very happy with the service and the room. We were warmly welcomed by garland of flowers and complimentary drinks and which after,we were brought to our room in a buggy and all the document formalisation for checking in was done in the room itself. We were impressed by the sunken marbled bath tub(big enough for 2),that came with pillows and nice smelling bath salts. The bathroom was huge and clean.Next day,we took the speed boat to Gili islands. This service was located in the hotel itself, close to the beach. We had also a complimentary donkey ride to the market place.Breakfast was served in balcony every morning which was great as we do not need to rush or queue for breakfast buffet which other resorts usually provide. The hotel had a big pool overlooking the beach and we enjoyed the cabanas provided near the pool.
Everthing in Oberoi was so convinent. It was definately a great stay and very much recommended to couples who would like to have a good time.

We stayed at the Oberoi for our honeymoon last year and our only fault was not staying longer. We've stayed at a few hotels since and nothing has come close. Personal service with all the staff knowing your name and really wanting to help, excellent food that wasn't cheap, but with a variety on the menu you could tailor to your budget. Wine was very expensive but that seems to be an Indonesia thing, not just the hotel. We just swapped to beer instead. Spacious and so quiet, you felt privileged being there, with free fruit, water, suncream, cold flannels, tea, cake and ice-cream and excellent service, sunbathing was just heaven. Great spa and 'room service' is really private dining on your balcony, with the whole table laid for you. Great snorkelling trip to the Gilli islands with the crew simply hanging around till we wanted to come back. The beach is tiny but you sunbathe on grass overlooking the water so it feels like you're on a bigger beach. It is in the middle of nowhere but you never feel claustrophobic, so for a relaxing escape of doing nothing, and maybe combined with somewhere else (we went to Bali too), it's perfect.

The hotel is a reasonable drive across Lombok along some interesting roads (about 1hr through some relatively poor areas), but it is a great location near the Gili islands to the NW of the Lombok and a view of the Bali volcano in the distance. The villa was nice, with a great pool. The food was good, with a mixture of Indonesian, Italian and Indian. The bar and main are great. The beach is essentially a coral beach, suitable for wading with footwear and deckchairs are on the immaculate grass.

What is fantastic is the boat trips. We charted a boat and went out snorkeling and then sat out on the fantastic Gili Air beach (sandy). The sea was clear and relatively warm which made for very pleasant swimming. The spa and gym are well equipped but don't really hit the spot - difficult to pinpoint why not. Staff are friendly but some can't speak great English - although a good speaker is always nearby.

Overall I think this is a good if not cheap hotel. Lombok is a much quieter version of Bali - probably how Bali was several years ago. It lacks some of the culture and facilities of Bali but makes up for it by being more serene and by having less interference with nature. I am not a diver but from what I saw snorkeling I would highly recommend it, with a lot of fish and best of all turtles in the sea. There are a number of sightseeing trips around the island, organized by the adjacent tour company. The boutique in the hotel is surprisingly good and well priced, whilst the plants and trees are immaculate and very well maintained. The sunsets are fantastic and directly across the sea from the hotel which makes the evenings very romantic.

As others have said, this is an outstanding hotel. Everything is done well with great attention to detail, but it never feels forced or fake. A huge amount of effort goes on behind the scenes to make everything run like clockwork and it obviously pays off, but it still has a great relaxed atmosphere.

Staff appear to have a genuine desire to go out of their way to exceed your expectations. Every single member of staff smiles at you and says hello - scarily, they all seem to know your name from the second you arrive but rather than being creepy, it is contagiously fun. You find yourself soon wandering around smiling, greeting people and chatting - and for anti-social Londoners, that is quite an achievement.

The food is excellent. Great variety and pretty reasonably priced (we found it much better value than 5* Bali). The best thing is that you can have pretty much whatever you like, wherever you like and whenever you like. We don't normally like buffets or 'set-piece' entertainment evenings at hotels but if you can get to go to the beach barbecue night, do. It is fantastic.

The snorkelling off the house reef is pretty good and the half day snorkelling trip got us swimming, literally, feet from hordes of turtles. Spa is good - although make sure you get the open air couples room, not the single treatment room. Also, go find the turtle nursery and have a chat with John 'The Turtle'.

When anything didn't quite go to plan or there was a small hiccup, staff didn't just resolve it, they sorted it out and then did something lovely to go above and beyond.

A great experience and we'd love to go back.
