I was very impressed with the level of service we received on a recent trip to this property. I felt that every employee I encountered went out of their way to make sure I enjoyed my time and always asked if I needed anything. The grounds are beautiful and clean, they even sweep the seaweed off the shoreline each morning to keep the white sand and turquoise water experience perfect.

The food quality could be improved. It is pretty good, but not as excellent as the other parts of the experience. There are several options for dining, the Japanese Steakhouse was the best because the food is cooked in front of you therefor fresh. Although the comedian/chef was a little intrusive. The other restaurants lacked overall quality (beef was Sizzler level, or worse) and they all definitely used their microwaves (yuck). The buffets had a lot to choose from and were a decent alternative. Our 'butler' was able to get us reservations at the times we wanted which was great during a sold out week.

Room Tip: I was traveling with a friend so requested a room with 2 beds. The first night they were unable to accommodate that. Apparently it is only a request not a guarantee. They kept their promise to move us the second night but it was a disappointment upon arrival. Also, you can hear the Saturday night band all night in the rooms that face the ship.

On our 5th time to Punta Cana we spent 15 nights at Iberostar Grand Bavaro. We have seen most of the properties on this fantastic beach and in our opinion this is the best one. It has one of the best beach locations on the the Punta Cana strip. Their beach layout is definitely the best with large palapas .... most with a lot of privacy. Most of the other properties here do not have palapas and crowd their beach chairs. Freddy and all the front reception staff were terrific as was our favorite butler Henry.

On the negative side...we have been to the the Iberostar Grand properties in Jamaica and the Mayan Riviera...this one is not as good...which disappointed us (as it is located in a much more beautiful area). The food and quality of service did not compare. Also the rooms are smaller with a chaise for one person instead of a love seat for two people...they have a large table in the room which really crowds the room. They are very cheap with their mini bar...as every time we ordered some items for our mini bar they brought half of what we ordered. The service was hit and miss with good intentions, however we didn't feel it was necessary to be greeted every time with a handshake especially before our meals.

Overall...this is a great property with some room for improvement.

This was our second trip to this resort. We came back because of the property, service, location, and value. It's truly a great budget almost five star place. If the food was better quality, then I would give the full 5 stars. Food selection is amazing but its all pretty bland and the meat choices were very, very inexpensive and not good.

Everything was great! From the arrival at the airport, shuttle to the hotel (booked via Funjet) to the resort itself! The food was great, the room was perfect and the beach was fantastic! We did eat at all of the theme restaurants - Japanese and the Italian were the best followed by the Le Tourbillion. You can skip the Surf and Turf as it was very very hot and had the worst service. The buffets are great, lobster and steak available at every meal! One thing about the food was the was an annoyance but easily forgotten was the ice cream...all of the flavors tasted the same in buffet...the green, blue and pink all tasted of bubble gum/pepto bismal. The vanilla served in the themed restaurants was great not sure why that couldn't make the buffet!

room service was great, we had breakfast every morning and it was delivered right when we wanted it. tip for the AC - there is a sensor in the sliding door that when it is open even a crack the ac will not work at all! door must be closed for AC. wireless was good but did cut in and out. tv was not needed, didnt even use it, honeymoon afterall!

All of the staff we meet were great, genuinely loved their jobs! Our housekeeper Fior did great things we towel art and flowers each day and always had a great smile! Bartender in the pool Julio was also great!

All items in the room were stocked each day including the mini bar. I asked for just rum and none of the other liquors and that is what I got! I even took them to the beach to enhance my drinks!

Beach chairs were reservered early each day with towels - I went down a few mornings at 7 to get a cabana and a front row beach chair and some days we just took what we found, always always chairs open!

A bit late doing this review, but my husband and I came to celebrate our 20th anniversary.
I did a lot of research and thanks to fellow trip advisor posts I choose this resort.

We had never been to DR before and loved this resort. The grounds are beautiful. The shows seemed good although we only went to 3. Everyone was very friendly and yes there is a language barrier but we were able to communicate with out to many problems.

The food was average to good depending on the night. Food is not that important to us so we don't get to concerned with it. Overall if your looking for a quiet,kid free luxury vacation this is the place to come, There are not many places I would consider returning but I would come back here in a heartbeat!

We did enjoy 3 spa treatments and thought they were very good.

Enjoy and be generous with your tips, these people work very hard!

Room Tip: The room above the restaurants are a bit noisy not sure why but we seem to hear chairs moving early morning.
