What a wonderful place to stay. The pool area will totally amaze you and the lowest pool is right on the beach. yes, they have a few around, all of them stunning. The spa is one of the best I have been to and dont forget to eat at the italian place at the bottom of the hotel, what a setting to enjoy while the sun is going down and you have great food.

The wildlife around there is fun. You can see all ranges when you walk to your room. We hated the mozzies but loved everything else. And the room was totally up to par with a great big bathtub, comfortable beds and free internet. Only thing about the hotel was that people that are elderly or unable to walk easily will not be happy there, it is up and down everywhere, from the breakfast room to the rooms to the pool. So stay away if you are not able to hike a bit. It is a bit puzzling since most people with the money to spend there will be a bit over their prime so they might have not just thought this out right. I sure got a work out. But everyone else, yes, please go, it is a wonderful place to stay.

My partner and I stayed at the Amari for 12 nights at the end of June / beginning of July.

It is a beautiful hotel, still very new (open 9 months or so?), sandwiched between jungle and beach, at the very end of the road so no 'through traffic' at all on either the road or beach. Away from everything (including shops), the nearest small village is Klong Muang ("Sheraton" area)which is a 10 minute car ride away. There are two resorts next to the Amari, one of which I believe was even newer and seemed to be closed. The nearest town is Ao Nang, 20 minutes away by car. A cab consistently cost us 500 baht each way (haggle in town as they try to charge around 700). There is a free hotel shuttle but as low season it only left once a day at 2pm, and only 10 seats so would need to book.

The beach was very peaceful, with only Amari guests and fantastic views over the Hong Islands (especially at sunset). When the tide is in the sea is shallow for a fair way out so seemed really safe. When the tide is out (and it goes out a long way) there is a little debris on the sand washed up from the islands, but the staff are out there every day cleaning it up (there are also dozens of little crabs scuttling along the beach, very cute!). They also circulate regularly with little surprises like fruits, iced water and free 5 minute massages. In the late afternoon they also bring savoury snacks.

We were a little worried about the weather, being rainy season, but needn't have been. When we arrived it had rained for 5 days straight, but during our stay there was only one rain shower (the day before we left). We spent the afternoon in the spa, (scrub, wrap and massage) which was gorgeous (but expensive, as is the norm in such resorts). The rest of the trip the weather was great.

The hotel arranged things like a longtail boat to the Hong Islands (highly recommended) and we were always greeted warmly on our return with iced water, cool towels and a "welcome home" - which we found particularly sweet.

Our (standard) room, was on the top floor (4th) at the front end of the hotel (furthest from the beach). It had a balcony with sun lounger, the view was lovely - over the hotel, onto the sea and islands. We noticed that a lot of the rooms overlooked only the grounds / restaurant / pool etc so it's worth asking for a higher floor. It seems the honeymoon rooms, at the other end of the resort (especially on the higher floors) have the best views of all. Inside the room was spacious with a huge comfy bed, dressing area, tv and dvd player. The bathroom had a large bath and walk in shower. It was very clean and the staff left a dessert every evening at turn down service.

There are 3 pools (and loungers) which were all lovely, but I would imagine when the hotel is full these areas would feel a bit crowded. This is due to the long, narrow layout of the hotel, small pool size and lack of loungers. During our stay the hotel reached up to 50% capacity which was fine. The grounds are immaculately maintained, there are quite a lot of steps as the hotel is built on an incline, unsuitable if you have mobility problems.

The food in the main (Lotus) restaurant is a mixture of Thai dishes and European, everything we ate there was lovely (but not exceptional). Breakfast is also served there, a really wide variety including an egg station, dim sum / rice, continental and American style dishes. Bellini, the Italian restaurant, is right by the beach - a fabulous setting. The food there was also really lovely! We ate at the Tubkaek too (next door but one, recommended) which had live music and tasty Thai dishes by the beach.

The staff were exceptionally polite, attentive and courteous throughout. The managers and chef circulated a lot, giving advice on things to do, making sure guests were happy and answering questions, even seating us for dinner (as noted by others, I have never seen this level of involvement by managers before).

All in all the Amari ticked all our boxes. If you want busy streets, shopping and nightlife 24/7 stay elsewhere.

Get out on some boats and find a friendly taxi driver to ensure you don't miss the green, lush, beautiful scenery and range of fantastic "must see" islands that Krabi has to offer. We especially loved Bamboo Island (off Phi Phi Island). Then return to the peaceful, pampered, romantic, Amari ambience for as much relaxation as you can handle. Take advantage of the "2 nights for 1" offer that is still running and it's a bargain stay!

We stayed four nights in an Ocean Villa, but only had to pay for two nights due to the "pay two nights and get two nights free" policy.

We were a little worried about whether this would be as good as advertised and it turned out that it was. The hotel is gorgeous, our villa was superb and the view really was "to die for". Not just a view of the bay, but a view of the bay studded with the limestone islands that have made Krabi famous.

All of our meals were excellent, including the buffet breakfast included with our villa. The menu varied each morning, but always featured what my husband said was the best omelet he had ever tasted. We ate every meal at the hotel and were especially impressed by the Italian Restaurant.

Service was also excellent and went way beyond our experience at any other Thailand hotel we have stayed at over the past five years (four trips). For example, we pre-paid but then had to change the length of our stay. The desk manager helped us out by upgrading our accommodations (from spa suite to Ocean Villa) in exchange for a shorter stay. Max, the hotel manager, helped us out with a number of special requests, such as arranging for dinner for a large party at the Italian restaurant by the beach. All of the excursions we book via the front desk were great and very reasonably priced.

We traveled with our 16 year old son and our friends brought their 5 and 3 year olds. They loved it as well, especially the swimming pools and the beach (lots of little fishes, crabs to chase, and shells to collect).

Since this trip was during the rainy season, there was some rain. But it was mainly brief down pours or showers quickly followed by clear blue skies and sun shine. The only prolonged rains were late at night. Even during a shower, we still used the pool as the rain was warm and so was the water.

My Thai boyfriend and I spent four wonderful days at this resort to celebrate our first anniversary. The facilities are excellent, the staff friendly and helpful and the food outstanding. While it is a little isolated from downtown Krabi this was one thing we enjoyed. We treated it as if it were an island resort. I cannot express how great our time there was. The whole place is spectacularly built on a hillside with magic views, but this means navigating many stairs...so the only negative I have to report. If you have the chance the day trip to Koh Hong is not to be missed. The hotel packed us a great lunch hamper and the whole experience was a day to remember.
