Reviewed April 7, 2013

We've just returned from a 2 week stay at the Amari Vogue (Mar/Apr 2013) and had an absolutely lovely time!

We're a UK couple who were on our 'babymoon' so were looking for something super relaxing where we wouldn't need to do anything or go anywhere unless we wanted to and the Amari Vogue gave us this and much more!

We stayed in one of the One Bedroom Villas (1104) and it was lovely. Bigger than expected and with its own private plunge pool which gave us options on the odd occasion the main pool got crowded.

So the highlights...

Service - probably the best we've had in Thailand (this is our fourth trip staying in similar sorts of hotels). It starts with Michael who is the GM and cares passionately about you, his staff and that everyone is having a good time and getting what they want out of their holiday. The rest of the staff are also fantastic with the usual Thai hospitality... look out for Wanna who is one of the restaurant staff and was really friendly and great at her job. The hotel does loads of little touches that all add up to great service... things like iced water throughout the day by the pool, complementary ice creams, fresh fruit again poolside and then little tasty sweat treats everyday in your room!

Food - both the Thai and Italian restaurants are top quality. A bit pricier than over in Ao Nang or the village closer to the resort but you get what you pay for. Every other night the hotel do some sort of themed buffet which is outdoor by or on the beach. If you don't fancy going out then I'd thoroughly reocmmend these... loads of different food options from really fresh salads to grilled seafood (huge king prawns!) and local thai cuisine. The hotel also organise nice little touches like a fire dancer, live singers and the opportunity to light laterns from the beach after your meal... was quite surreal and felt like a scene from 'The Beach'! At breakfast there are loads of different options from western to asian and we ended up eating a lot!

Facilities - The hotel has everything you need... the spa is fantastic, a decent gym and a number of pools with amazing views out and over the islands. The pools are lovely with loads of sunken seats to cool off in and still get sun and various jets / fountains to splash around in. The hotel is also right on the beach so easy access straight into the Andaman Sea!

View / surroundings - The hotel faces west so you get the most amazing sunsets over Hong Island and the other islands. You will never get bored of the view... it's simply stunning at any time of day and I would thoroughly recommend getting a long tail out to Hong Island... if you go early you can be the first people on the beach which was pretty cool!

Things to be aware of...

Location - As per the other reviews, the hotel is about 20 mins from Ao Nang and about 10 mins from the nearest village. This didn't bother us at all given we didn't really want to leave the hotel but there aren't a load of shops / restaurants in the immediate proximity to the hotel. The hotel do put on a free shuttle 2-3 times a day into Ao Nang and there is a small village about a 5-10 min taxi away which has some really good restaurants - some of which will come and pick you / drop you back at the Amari for free (ask for Mr O at reception).

Pool / Beach - The main pool is small and did fill up over Easter when the hotel was at full capacity. It was fine as we had a plunge pool to head back to but it's a shame the pool isn't bigger. The beach when the tide goes out is wide... this didn't bother us but may not be for all people.

So... all in all an amazing couple of weeks. Lovely hotel, fantastic staff and stunning view!.

Room Tip: If you're going for one of the Ocean Villas 1103 and 1104 have plunge pools where as 1101 and 11...

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The room was clean and large and the bed was extremely comfortable. The grounds of the hotel were well kept, there were multiple pools all clean. Very relaxing with lots of options to escape the kids which was a plus for me. It would have been better to have more pool chairs, but i guess there wasn't much space. The layout of the place was unique, though it could be a problem for some because there were a lot of stairs. The beach itself was ok, but it was super clean and quiet because it was private so you felt like you had the whole place to yourself.
The beach bar/restaurant was really good, with friendly service. A little overpriced, but not enough to gawk at compared to what I'm sure other hotels charge and the food was genuinely good. They also had BOGO happy hours daily. The free breakfast had a lot of options and again all delicious.
The service was very friendly and helpful. I booked two excursions with the help of the front desk and also transfers to and from the hotel. They staff was great and not only at the front desk, but all the services and staff throughout. Everyone was always smiling and saying hello and checking in with you. I wish more hotels were like this and I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Villas by the pool if you have a family

We found the Amari Vogue to be a nice hotel but not incredible. The good: The staff here is excellent, happy to help with anything. The food in the Bellini restaurant is truly excellent, the pools are attractive, and there are plenty of chaise lounges on a VERY pretty and private beach. It is only a 25 minute long tail boat ride to snorkeling and beach activities on the islands. The wifi service here is ubiquitous and fast. The bad: the hotel is somewhat isolated, a 20-30 Minute drive (500 baht taxi) from nightlife and restaurants. None of the rooms seem to have ocean views which is disappointing. The breakfast is nice but not very big. We found the rooms a bit dark. The gym was tiny without much equipment, although the treadmill functioned just fine there was no TV to watch, and the room stank of air freshener. Net, net a very nice hotel if you are looking for a quiet time away, but if you are looking for active nightlife be prepared to take taxis or stay elsewhere.

Dear Andrew S,

Thank you very much for your review. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay and were happy with the service, the food, the pool and the pretty beach.

You are completely right that you need to know that the resort is on a remote location and it takes 20 minutes to get to the noisy and touristy center of Ao Nang beach. But for those who want to relax and unwind, it will be the right choice.

We have just returned after spending 6 nights at the Amari Vogue, which we only booked once we found out that Michael was the manager as we had previously met him when he was the manager of Layana on Koh Lanta. We were not disappointed and Michael has ensured that the same small touches which make all the difference are in place at the Amari. Michael welcomed us personally. All the staff were attentive and met all of our needs.
My daughter and her boyfriend who are travelling around Asia came to visit us during our stay and although they were non paying guests they were afforded the same hospitality by reception staff . By the time we got down from our room to see them they were enjoying cold towels and drinks. It is this level of hospitality which makes all the difference to your stay.
The views are stunning and probably the best I have seen in Thailand along with the amazing sunsets. We also went on several long tail boat trips which we really enjoyed.

Room Tip: If you go out on a long tail boat trip then go early at around 9ish to avoid all the crowds

My husband and I have just returned from a two week holiday in Thailand. We chose to spend 4 nights at the Amari Vogue Hotel Krabi and could not have been more delighted with this decision. We can't think of a single criticism and would highly recommend the hotel to anyone looking for 'an escape' , it's just beautiful, in a wonderful position- very peaceful - just what we needed after a week in Bangkok! We stayed in room number 5401 and would select this again next time, it was lovely with fantastic views. Everything from the decor to the food in this hotel is of a high standard. Congratulations and thanks to Michael and all his gracious staff.

Room Tip: Room 5401 has fantastic panoramic views , perfect room all round! Huge balcony with jacuzzi. Would r...

We stayed 4 nights at the Amari hotel. Excellent stay throughout. Very friendly staff; wonderful location on a quiet beach; beautiful architecture; very comfortable and quiet rooms; excellent food at the two restaurants; nice pool; and more. The hotel is a little far from the main city (Krabi) but Krabi is very crowded while the Amari gives you a feel of complete relaxation in a very secluded and beautiful setting. The hotel manager is always present and was very helpful when we had internet connection problems. Overall we highly recomment this hotel

Amari Vogue is a quite small and compact resort. As most Amaris, the resort is very stylish and tasteful. However, our room was a tiny bit faded, but still ok. Restaurants are very good with excellent menus. This comes handy, since there are no local restaurants in the vicinity. Beach is lovely, but the Amari stretch (the private beach) is not very big. Upon arrival, we feared to fight every morning for a sun bed, but it did work out well. Glorious sunset and views of the Andaman sea.
