“Bland food((”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 24, 2013 via mobile

Even the garlic sauce there had no taste at all. Most dishes are made by mixing ingredients without trying to follow recipies. We had a feeling like after visiting a poor quality factory canteen, though waiters made their effort to make our visit enjoyable((( sorry, guys!!! You have to change the chef!!!!

“It's a Family Restaurant! Enjoy!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2013 via mobile

Don't expect The Ritz. Don't expect The Savoy. Do expect decent, tasty food at as reasonable price. It gets very busy due to all the people from the hotels over the road, but that should be an endorsement, rather than a stick with which to beat them.

One amusing side note: I ordered a Banana Split, which came in the form of a hollowed out coconut, containing ice cream, melon, pineapple, and papaya. Not a single piece of banana. Tasty, though!

“Well we like it..”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

...so much so that we've been probably been twenty times or more over the years we been visiting this area. Our last visit was this year as we were staying at the Beyond Resort, the entrance of which is across the road from the Baan Thai.

Have always found the staff very friendly. The manager Mr O speaks excellent English, and over the years the staff have come to recognise us. We've always found the food to be of good quality and some of the better food we've had in Thailand - the food has more Thai chinese influences - you won't get a Massaman curry here for example. And there's a choice of Western dishes should you fancy a change, but we eat mostly Thai. The mango and sticky rice is excellent.

It's a simple but popular restaurant - you do tend to see a lot of repeat visitors. Its by the roadside and the trucks thunder past on their way to the quarry - but somehow that's all part of the charm. This year you would have had trouble getting in as many people were eating there - I don't think that indicates a tourist trap, just a restaurant that people are happy to eat in

In the Sheraton next year, but we'll be sure to pop into the Baan Thai for a visit.
