For us at least, this place proved to be head and shoulders above anything else we tried in Krabi. We explored quite a few other places including Thai food at a 6 star hotel and genuinely we found the food in Bai Tong to be the best. It was better because the sea food was seemingly fresher (both were fresh but Bai Tong was exceptionally so) and also the fish was slightly better quality (and of course Bai Tong was much more reasonably priced! The food here is priced extremely fairly). It is not just the quality of ingredients but also the cooking of the fish and the execution of the dishes. The chef here (also the owner) really understands sea food and everything we tried was cooked to perfection. The cooking was impressive enough but what was arguably even more impressive was the removing of the bones after cooking - I tried to find out how this was done so precisely but I am still not sure, I think it is a combination of perfect cooking and expert craft. It is the type of place where you can ask the chef what is fresh and in turn receive the best food of the day which will invariably include sea food that was caught the same day it is cooked. The chef and owner is incredibly proud of what he serves up and it is clear that he will only give his customers the best Krabi has to offer. For people with even a moderate interest in Thai food this place will be sure to be a delight and I bet with food this good it will spark further intrigue. For serious foodies interested in exploring the freshest sea food in Krabi I would say that this place is an absolute must. We eat there most days during our trip and that was because we ended up speaking to the chef and owners who would entice us with attractive dining options for the next day including crab and lobsters and straight off the boat fresh sea bass and red snapper. I genuinely can't speak highly enough of the place, it is a rare type of restaurant that seeks to be successful solely on the basis of excellent quality food, extremely high standards and is led by a chef with a passion for the freshest possible ingredients. I have posted some pictures below of the dishes we enjoyed most, please consider trying the sea food pineapple rice (the squid was as fresh as it can realistically get and cooked perfectly), but my main recommendation would be to try whatever the chef/owners tell you is fresh as they genuinely take pride in serving up the best to their customers. Also, I would be willing to bet that the spicy mango/papaya salad is pretty much the best you can get anywhere. This place is a real gem and anybody who goes to Krabi and does not eat there will be missing out on outstanding food.
