“Great food, beautiful hotel, lovely people!”
Reviewed May 16, 2009

Stayed in a deluxe room for 4 nights as part of our honeymoon around thailand. Fantastic service from the moment we arrived (via tuk tuk!). Room was lovely and we particularly loved the outdoor bathroom and the balcony. Pool gorgeous. Great food, expensive compared to other places we stayed but we felt it was worth it - the resturant is beatiful and the service unbeatable. It is a very quiet location and this suited us. Chartered a longtail to go to the hong islands which were gorgeous and the trip was stress free .... great to do it by yourselves rather than in a tour group which we hate. The beach was lovely but i agree with previous reviews that not as white and soft as other places in the vicinity, and had to watch out for sharp coral. Loved the bean bags and hammocks on the beach, especially as the sun set (and it was happy hour!) Spa was good too.

We read many reviews on this site about The Tubkaak and decided to ignore the bad ones. We stayed 4 nights and wished we had more time! Some of the bad reviews we read were it was isolated, there was a long dirt gravel road to the resort, no activities offered, dirty beach, no beach, and expensive food. Number one, it is isolated. So if you are the type who wants parties every night, don't stay here! We, as a couple, liked watching the sun set while listening to the live music in the evening. Number two, there is no longer a long dirt road. It is about a 45 min. car ride from the airport and it is paved the whole way. 3rd, they had a whole book of activities. Day trips to Kho Phi Phi, Kho Hong, and many more! We did the Kho Hong and loved it! It cost baht 1700 (around 50 dollars). (One quick tip is to stay on Kho Hong the longest! that is the only island on the tour with activities such as kayaking, swimming, and hiking. We left early and after seeing the other two islands we made our long boat driver take us back! FYI!) The resort also has kayaks that you can take up the shore for free. We took the kayak to a private beach. If you want to go to the town you can take a taxi, but we decided to rent a scooter for 8 dollars a day. We drove where ever we wanted and had a blast! We also found a nature hike at the end of our road which we hiked and saw/heard gibbons (monkeys). It was great, but hot hot hot! About the beach... the beach was nice. I read a lot of reviews that said it was dirty. By dirty I thought people meant trash, however the only thing that swept onto the beach was leaves, and the staff was always out there picking it up. The worst part was the tide. When the sun is out the tide is up and the beach is gone. The tide, when we were there, was high up until about 2 or 3 pm. We got our sun at the pool which was wonderful!!! The food was very good. People who say that it was expensive are comparing it to street vendors in Bangkok which are very cheap. However, for a dinner and multiple cocktails the max we paid was baht 1500 (around $45). I am sorry, but for a resort dinner that is cheap! We have paid up to $200 for a dinner at a resort like this one in Seychelles! Overall, we loved this place and would recommend it to people who don't mind being away from the party scene. When we arrived we were surprised to find out that they upgraded our room to the 2nd nicest in the resort! It was amazing!!! We were supposed to have a sea-view room, but got the Laurel Suite. It was very clean and almost the size of our house! We were always treated like royalty!

We recently spent 5 nights at the Tubkaak. THe resoirt is beautiful but in the middle of nowhere. I would recommend to stop off beforehand and buy some beers and snacks as it is quiet expensive at the hotel.

We had a superior room overlooking the pool which was lovely. The room was very clean and had a flat screen tv. The outside bath tub was fab as well! The staff were very friendly and efficient. I have never seen so much cleaning take place.

I would agree with all the other reviews written here - the hotel is great but only for 4/5 nights as you are in the middle of nowhere so if all you want is some piece and quiet then this is the place to go. THere is no town nearby to walk to so you are confined to the hotel. The restaurant is quite nice but a bit expensive and not much variety on the menu. The wine is also very very expensive. The happy hour cocktail is okl but would be better if the bar area was bigger and seperate to the restaurant. There is nothing much to do in the evenings so i would recommend using the hotel's free dvd's. We watched 4 films while we were here.

The trips they offer at the hotel are also very expensive and you can get them for much cheaper so i would book in advance or go to the nearest town to bargain for cheaper trips. We got the trip to Phi Phi for half the price.

I would not stay here for longer than 5 nights though but would definately recommend it! just remember to stock up before you arrive and bring lots of books! The beach was ok, great views but be careful of coral!

Not good for old people who find it hard to get around and not the ideal place to take the kids as they will be very bored. The nearest Town is Au Nang which is £12:00p one way in a taxi so you are kind of trapped. To give you a idea of cost one bottle of water in the hotel is £2:90p which is very expensive as we were getting through three bottles a day.The meals are very expensive as well and the cheapest bottles of wine is £28:00p

The hotel itself is fantastic, the staff are really great, the rooms and the complex are really clean and really well maintained. My only gripe is the cost for food and beverages and you are really trapped, short break great but not for two weeks

Take spare change of clothing for the heat in your hand luggage as are suitcases arrived late to Krabi as they were mis-placed at Bangkok airport, this has happened all three times we have been to Thailand

We stayed at this hotel for a week as part of a longer holiday. We also visited the indigo Pearl in Phuket and went to Bangkok.

The travel company we use (eshores.co.uk) recommended this hotel along with the others we stayed at and I have to say it was amazing…

I would say though, we love this type of hotel but get some advice whether it will be suitable because I wouldn’t have thought it would be everyone’s cup of tea.

The beach is amazing and looks out over all the lime stone islands, which is breathtaking. The room was excellent and my wife fell in love with the bathroom, which I have to say was very nice too. The food was first class.

Every little detail was just perfect. Amazing.. simply amazing.

We recently spent 4 nights at the Tubkaak Resort and enjoyed our stay overall as it was a welcome change of pace from the sightseeing we had been doing for a week. We stayed in a standard room, but would probably have preferred to upgrade to a Sea view room as the room was a little dark and the deck was not very inviting to sit on. There is only one restaurant at the resort, and we thought the food was pretty good, although the breakfast they serve was not that impressive, however it was included in the room so no complaints. There is nothing within walking distance from the hotel so if you are content to stay at the property then that would not be a problem. We did one private snorkeling trip to the Phi Phi islands which was great, and one day on a long boat touring 4 islands. As there is not much to do in the evenings other than go the the resorts Library after dinner, we were happy to be moving on after 4 nights. Overall I would say that the resort was fine- more appealing than the other hotels down the beach that we checked out as well.
