If you want a relaxing romantic hotel, look no further. We spent the first 2 nights of our honeymoon at Tubkaak. I only wish we'd had more time. Some cynics may think ok - they loved this place because they haven't stayed in upmarket places... but it is worth noting we would put this place up there with the Datai (Langkawi) and Capella (Singapore) as one of the most relaxing and rmonatic places we have ever stayed. The grounds and the beach are simply stunning. Ok the rooms aren't massive, but they are very comfortable, and the outdoor baths are very sexy. The food was great and we were lucky enough to be there during a very personal festival at end of November 2012. We thought the spa was good, and the service everywhere was fantastic. However, I do agree with the review below, that this place is all about romance and relaxation and the idea of making it adults only would make it even more exclusive. The sunsets are probably bettered only by Santorini and enjoying a cocktail on the beach at 6pm is one of those moments you will forever remember. So much of Krabi has been ruined, and this place stands tall a world away from the smell and noise of Ao Nang. If you want a last bit of seclusion in the jungle with world class views stay here.... just do more than 2 nights. We certainly will when we return.

Room Tip: Get a room with an outdoor bath!

I chose this hotel as our 'beach flop' at the end of a busy 2 week holiday. We were there for 5 nights during November.

The first impressions were very promising - the grounds are superbly designed, the rooms although small, are perfectly formed - luxurious bed, coffee machine, black slate sunken outdoor bath, chill out music playing when you are first shown to the room. Unfortunately, it wasn't too long before some cracks started to show....

The biggest issue that marred our stay was that were two rather boisterous families holidaying together at full volume. This would not be a problem in a larger property, but it was at the Tubkaak simply because it is so small that there was nowhere to go to escape from the noise. We had not anticipated this as an issue because the hotel was recommended to us as a relaxing and romantic hideaway.

The rooms are supposed to be cleaned twice a day, but this was not always the case. We returned to our room late afternoon having spent all day on the beach and after dinner on more than one occasion to find it had not been serviced. I did call a couple of times to ask for the room to be cleaned, and it was then done promptly but making the calls, waiting for someone to arrive, then making yourself scarce while they were there became more of a chore than simply making do by tidying the room myself!

Food in the restaurant was very tasty, but it arrived lukewarm on the 4 evenings we ate there. The drink service on the beach was hit and miss. The spa was nowhere near the standard I would expect, then, after my spa treatment I decided to go back to the room for a relaxing bath in our outside bathroom - only to find that this wasn't possible as the tap wasn't working.

Moving onto the positives - the sunsets are nothing short of spectacular, and I will always remember watching from a bean bag on the beach whilst sipping a cocktail or two. Our room was well designed and comfortable. The beach is stunning and we had a lovely day out visiting Hong Island by long tail boat which we organised from the hotel. The contents of the mini bar are complimentary, which was a nice touch (you are then charged for any subsequent refills you request). The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. We were able to keep our room until 6pm on our day of departure at no extra cost. We really appreciated this as it meant we could enjoy a hassle free day at the end of our holiday.

I have tried my best to present a balanced view of our experience at the Tubkaak. Having read many of reviews before deciding upon this property I had definitely expected more than it delivered, particularly given the price we paid. Most of the issues we experienced could be overcome with a little more attention to detail. To play to its strengths I feel that the hotel would also have more appeal if it became adults only.

Room Tip: We stayed in a ground floor room. The upstairs rooms would give more privacy.

If your looking for the best Krabi resort, this is it. My wife and I spent 5 nights, and the longer you stay the more you want to stay. I thought I would be bored in an isolated resort, but it was great. The staff are exceptional. Location idealic. Meal prices surprisingly reasonable for exceptional food. Every detail is thought of. From the cold water as you get off the boat from hong island at the front of the resort, to doing your room at night while dining, nothing is too much trouble. Do the cooking lesson with Kitti the chef, he is exceptional, and a real gentleman. Sunny the manager is hands on, super friendly and full of helpful ideas. Thanks to you all for a very special holiday.

We spent a week relaxing in this special place. Although we are used to travel from one place to another we haven't been bored for a minute. You can just laying on the beach enjoying the million dollar view whole day. We also enjoyed the boat trip to Hong Island a lot. This is a really special place on earth. We spent almost all our time at the hotel as we were relaxing after an intense working project in Azia. The quality of the restaurant food is really good so no need at all to go elsewhere. But what really made the difference was the professional and very kind and caring staff. Every single one of them makes you feel special by pampering you. (they clean your room 2 times per day:-)) Nothing is impossible for them. If you are not romantic yet, you will get it out here!

Room Tip: No need to pay extra for poolview rooms as you will spend your days at the beach or at the pool and...

We stayed 4 nights at this Amazing hotel, after 3 nights in Bangkok this was the perfect beginning of our honeymoon at the beach. Everything was awesome, mainly the service and friendly staff, as well as the food. We booked a long tail boat with the hotel to visit Hong Island and others. It was a Great Experience! And price was OK, totally worth it. I hope we can be back!!

Somos argentinos, con lo cual Si bien no es super barato como para los europeos, vale la pena cada centavo. El lugar es divino, super tranquilo y la gente más simpática del mundo. Ojalá podamos volver!!

We spent six nights here and it was as lovely as everyone says. It is a beautiful spot with lovely friendly service and very pleasant food. This is not the place to come if you like lively night-life! It definitely is the place to come and relax, read books, go for walks, swim or go kayaking, chill by the pool, drink cocktails at sunset and enjoy lovely meals overlooking the beach. We only went out one night - and wished we hadn't! It doesn't seem to make much difference if you have a garden or swimming pool room - just depends what you prefer - but I imagine the lower rather than the upper rooms might feel more closed in. This is definitely the place for a complete, relaxing break.

Room Tip: Rooms are downstairs and upstairs. We had one upstairs which had a pitched roof and ceiling fan. The...

We booked this hotel as my sister in law had recommended. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by the lovely staff of the hotel. We had one of the rooms facing the pool, and the room was great. Not as small as a lot of reviewers had said. The room was perfect. The only thing I would say is that it would be nice to have steps outside our balcony to access the pool directly and not have to go all the way round.

You are also provided with free mineral water everyday, and beach bag with slippers and towels for the beach.

The hotel has a small beach and there are only 4 other hotels in that area. The hotel offers guests very comfy beanbags to use on the beach.

Their staff in particular Sunny were great. They really looked after us and knew who we were throughout our stay. My husband loves chillies and ever night when we went for dinner they gave my husband a selection of chillies/sauces to choose from. Breakfast was amazing. A lot of variety and everything was tasty. I loved the variety of fruit they offered. We ate at the hotel several times, and although a bit pricey it was very tasty. They had a BBQ on the beach one night and it was amazing. for seafood lovers there was a lot of variety and it was good value for money. Drinks are a bit expensive so we made the most of happy hour.

The hotel offers a shuttle bus to Ao Nang several times a week. We did use this one day but Ao Nang is very touristy, and we didn't really go back. We did visit the area where the Sheraton is and there are a few good/cheaper restaurants there. There is a restaurant on the beach (access going through the Sheraton and turn right when you reach the beach), which was great and much cheaper than the hotel restaurants.

Taxis in this area are expensive but feel free to book them through the hotel as they are the same price as booking it through the taxi company.

During our stay there was a small family wedding at the hotel, and we got to witness how great the staff are. They spent their day setting up but were still looking after all their other guests. It was a beautiful wedding on the beach, and Sunny (Hotel manager) even conducted the ceremony! Really there is nothing that Sunny does not do!

All in all an amazing place to stay, we had 5 days of total relaxation, amazing food, great staff and will definitely go back one day! If you are looking for relaxation this is the place, if you are looking to party then probably not the best place......

Thanks a lot Sunny, and thanks to all your staff!
