I read a lot about many reviews about this hotel and this time I have chance to go there with my family. I couldn't say anything except "perfect". My family got an upgrade room from Jacuzzi villa to 2-bedrooms private pool villa with a big surprise. The area is huge with living room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, private pool and outdoor jacuzzi and everything are in good condition. Look out from private pool, beach is just a few step from villa. Pool is big and very pleasant for all people. I spent there for 4 days 3 nights and most of the time, my family just stayed in a hotel to relax. All staffs are gorgeous, helpful and very friendly. Spa is also a must and worth to pay. And price is very reasonable, not a rip-off like other hotels at all. I love this place and would love to go back again.

Room Tip: Andaman villa is the best.

Not a bad hotel with nice rooms on a quiet beach. Great place to use as a springboard to visit the delights of the nearby islands.
Mr Buk at the poolside is a defacto concierge and can arrange boat trips diving etc.
Hotel has only one restaurant but it is nice by the pool with sea view. A few local restaurants outside are good generally.
Boat trips were all taken with Mr Hu. A fun Captain Jack longtail boat skipper who took us on private tours of mangroves, snorkelling on private islands ... Amazing. No rush no fuss
0895928636. His english is poor but workable. Very good guy
Hotel is spoilt by the two female receptionists who have a standard answer of no to whatever you need
They are rude in the most polite way many guests were upset by them

Nakamanda was the smallest resort I stayed at during my trip around Thailand. Thou it may bea bit far from town the beach location is ideal. The staff are friendly however during the night I believe a small racoon type animal got trpped in the air vent causing my husband and I a restless night due to the noise the animal was making.

The service is above average, however the restaurant foodshould be avoided as the food was not tasty.

If you are looking for a quiet place to stay close to the beach this would be an ideal resort.

(Please note it was our honeymoon and despite the hotel being told this they did not do anything extra)

Room Tip: Choose a room on the upper level.

Overall : the hotel is very nice boutique hotel. It's under SLH group (small luxury hotel), it's not that luxury but is a very pleasant one. It is nicely decorated in modern Thai style and is with a lovely & lively beach environment.

Location : the hotel is situated in Klong Muang beach which is quite far from Ao Nang (the main beach with many piers to islands, many restaurants and shops). But it provides transfer to the city, airport and to Ao Nang (we didn't use the service because we rented a car, but think it's around 300 thb/ person/ trip). There are a few restaurant and mini mart around there. But if you need a quiet and peaceful beach, this is it.

Room : very nice, bathroom is very spacious. The balcony is wide and a good place to replax too.

Staffs are very attentive, very good serviced mind and can speak English very well (although i'm Thai, i can hear them communicated with other international guests fluently in English).

The hotel may not be suitable for those having problems in walking/ those in wheelchaire as you have to take many steps to/ from your room and to restaurants & beach. (have to double check with the hotel)

Room Tip: Ask for sea view room (every Sala room (standard room) has the same price). It's a first come fi...

While at the airport, we were greeted with Mr Rath bright smiley face with our name on the board. He lead us to the van and handed us chilled mineral water together with cold fragrance towels! So refreshing! Journey from airport to hotel took around 45min or less.

Check in was smooth, receptionist was attentive and courteous. Room was gorgeous but the bathroom showed its age. Our veranda was facing the sea, plus points! Honeymooners gets complimentary set up and coconut drink once you've settled in. No problem with the mosquitos so far. AC was cool and quiet.

Spa was reasonable, equipped with Jacuzzi/ steam room/ and well maintained changing/massage rooms. We took up the Naga package and were delighted with it. Therapist Buppha did a great job, I am pleased with her service. The staff were very friendly, took the effort to have small chats with you. Mr. Book from the bar/swimming area was proactive as he approached us and offered help should we need any assistance during our stay.

Breakfast wasn't much of a variety but was acceptable. After knowing that we needed halal food, the staff offered to cook for us a separate dish for our breakfast. These are service champions! Will definitely recommend and returning back here is a must!

Room Tip: 2nd floor nearer to the lobby area- better wifi strength.

Firstly, the bad points:
There is no doubt that this hotel is showing its age: The bedrooms have a definite 'lived in' quality, the paint work around the hotel is flaking, many tiles in the pools are chipped, there are signs of damp on some of the plaster, the gym equipment seems very dated, the air conditioing in my room rattled with age, and the pathways need weeding. If you compare this to the neighbouring Sheriton hotel, it's clear that the Nakamanda is no where near as polished or as slick.
Service in the hotel is hit and miss: There are definite communication issues with many of the front line staff. I ask for milk for the tea/coffee facilities in my room 3 times. Eventually I had to go to reception and ask face to face.
Privacy might be an issue for some. Many of the terraces are on walk ways, which have people walking by. Sitting on your terrace at night, under the lights, you do feel a little on show.
Many people mentioned mosquitos, given that there are 'ponds' in the bathroom, but I did not encounter this problem.

However there are good points to the hotel: The staff are lovely. It is a small hotel and many of the staff are very personable. They make they effort to come and talk to you.
Further, I found the food to be quite good and reasonably priced.
Finally, the location is fantastic: It is placed directly on a gorgeous bay. Although the hotel is not near any main town centre, there are several restaurants within a 10 minute walk, and a mini-mart by the hotel entrance.

In summary, definitely showing it's age, especially when compared to the nearby newer resorts, but I felt that this was reflected in the price.
