“Wonderful place - Amazing”
Reviewed May 19, 2013

The hotel is amazing and we could not find better place.
People are very nice, the pool is great and you are in front on the sea!
We did a boat trip during few hours and the guy showed us amazing places where there was nobody. Alone in kind of lagoon...just a perfect time!
I strongly recommend this hotel. Food is excellent with good prices as well.
Room are big and quite hotel.
Just go there and see by yourself...

Our first trip to Thailand ... and we couldn’t have been better cared for than we were at Nakamanda. The resort is truly spectacular but it’s the people that really make the difference – nothing was too much trouble and they were constantly looking for ways to improve (not that we could think of many suggestions!).

We arrange for the hotel to pick us up from Krabi airport and it was worth every baht! On arrival we were met by the Nakamanda bus which was spacious, air conditioned and came with cold drinking water and ice cold towels, which smelt like heaven – just what we needed after our flight.

The resort is set out to make clever use of the terrain and to ensure privacy for each guest (the downside of this gradient is the steps but it’s all part of the charm & it ensures that you feel the benefit of not being overlooked). Each villa is very large and feels ‘individual’ with a wonderful day bed on the balcony/terrace. The two sinks were an added bonus and we stayed in one of the higher Sala Villa’s which meant there was a sky light above the bath – a lovely touch.

You’ll also find other lovely little touches which make a real difference to your stay. In your room you’ll find a beach bag, flip flops, etc, for you to use during your stay. If you go down to dinner in the evening the team will have mosquito spray ready to hand, just in case. One of the lovely pool attendants will have a towel ready for you on a lounger with your ‘selected level of shade’ and will be around to top up your ice water before it gets anywhere near empty.

The prices within the hotel are very reasonable which meant that we felt comfortable to indulge in everything we fancied. The Massaman curry in the restaurant was particularly good and at least one Coconut Shake at the poolside every day is highly recommended.

The spa is a real treat and well worth a visit. We went back on 3 separate occasions as it was so good (also very reasonable – about 800-1000 THB per treatment) and the herbal tea which follows your treatment is amazing (no idea what’s in it all together but it’s lovely).

The resort also arranges excursions (see the very helpful team in the lobby for the book). We chose the Elephant Trek (Nosey Parkers) and the 4 Island Tour. Both were good but meeting Pattaya the elephant was the winner for us. The 4 Island Tour is ‘ok’ but I think next time I’d just visit Prah Nang (this was the stand out on the 4 island tour) and then try the Hong Island tour instead.

There are a few small shops & restaurants directly outside the resort but if you like Indian/Nepalese cuisine Gajanana, located opposite the Sheraton resort, was something very special (about 100 TBH by taxi/tuk tuk or a 10 minute walk).

We found Gajanana when visiting Star Tailor (which we’d also highly recommend if you’d like to have any clothes made whilst you’re in the area). Harry was very friendly and would turn his hand to practically anything. I took some of my favourite shirts/trousers, which in all honesty have seen better days, and he made me wonderful copies. My other half had a beautiful linen suit made for a very reasonable price.

We had a wonderful holiday and are already ‘working through our finances’ to see how quickly we can get back to Nakamanda. I would happily recommend a stay here to anyone and I thank Ms. Por, Chai, Nuna, Book and all of the team for looking after us so well on our first visit to Krabi - it won’t be our last.

After comparing to a few hotels in that area, I decided to stay there and it's beyond expectation.
This hotel is small, just 40rooms and luxury with its Thai modern architecture design hidden in Nong Thale beach. I stayed at Sala Villa and the room is very beautiful and spacious with wooden decoration, clever functional spaces and big bathroom with separate space for his and hers. Each room is quite private and have a good view either green or beach or even both. You can find long tail boats to go to islands just step out to the beach( surely, they are so noisy when they turn on their engine continuously and many boats at the same time). The beach itself is in the private location with a long beach walk. The swimming pool is big and next to the beach so you can walk up and down whole day. I tried their massage and spa too, it was good with reasonable price. There is only one restaurant in the hotel, the Kitchen which next to the beach. The food is moderate and I hope they will improve the food quality, especially breakfast. One last thing which I would like to compliment is their staffs. They are very friendly, helpful, ready to help all the time and good English speaking. I'll come back again surely.

This is a perfect hotel when you need a romantic getaway with your partner. Beautifully designed room, even the standard room are very spacious with big windows and private balcony overlooking the andaman sea.
The best way to get to the hotel is by car, it's very easy to drive in the area as the traffic is relatively friendly, all you need is a GPS. The hotel is located around 10 minutes drive from the busy Ao Nang beach, you can easily go there for lunch or dinner or plan your activity from hundreds of tour agents around Ao Nang rd.

Room Tip: Its either you are close to the lobby or close to the pool. Get around the hotel involves a lot of s...

The resort is gorgeous! It has a very nice pool, with a diferent kind of blue...
The restaurant is very good, also. The breakfast is nice, with a lot of options.
Regarding the room, it's one of the most fantastic we ever stayed. We were upgraded because of SLH, so we got a jacuzzi room. It has two sinks, a great shower, a bath and a very big bed. The quality of sleeping is good. The wifi, unfortunatelly, is just average. The staff is very friendly. They always try to call you by your name and are always smiling. Really loved. There are some restaurants just crossing the street, and a market also. The point is that the beach is not so good. It's a better option being on the Phi Phi island, instead of Krabi or Phuket...

Room Tip: Be a member of SLH and get a room upgrade.

Our family of 6 had a very pleasant stay at Nakamanda. Three best things about this resort, we find, are 1. the room design 2. The beautiful view over the clean, quiet beach 3. the excellent service. The only real downside would be for those who can't handle the stairs as it is built on a sloped hill and one has to walk down from the lobby to rooms and down to the pool, restaurants and the beach and vice versa.

The resort is the right size, about 40 exclusive units, each with a small private verandah and a daybed, some overlooking the sea. The room design at each Sala Pavillion makes a very comfortable stay, an in-room daybed serves as a cozy seating and can be a nice bed for the third person for a family of 3. The bathroom section is large, together with a walk-in closet (his and her for both closets and sinks), a separate shower and a large bathtub. Each Sala is quite private, the unit on the second floor (XX2) generally has a better view than the XX1. The bathtub area also has sunroof which gives great lighting. Room 701, however, has sea view.

The beach, for us, is very nice and most interesting. There is a small island in front where you can walk to in low tide. The view changes throughout the day with the tide, and it looks marvelous at sunset. It is relatively rocky and flat in front of the hotel, but there is sandy beach to both the left and right. The hotel pool is very large with cozy lounging/sunbathing area before going down to the beach itself.  We stayed around there and order food & drinks, loved their fresh coconut, all these made a very pleasant & relaxed stay.

The restaurant is right by the beach and served relatively good Thai dishes, of course at a price higher than local restaurants on the road behind the hotel. Breakfast was ok, not great, but with varieties, can be improved. Some mosquitos at night while sitting outdoor, but on breezy days there was none.

We find the people one of this resort's best quality. They were 5 stars, each always with a polite smile, ready to serve you from the driver to the pool man, the maids and the restaurant staffs. We are Thais so we can't tell if their English would be a problem, but we overheard two staffs with good English at the restaurant recommending trips to guests.

If you come as a family of 4-5, we recommend the 2 bedroom pool villas. The unit we stayed overlook the beach. The villa has a nice size pool, a separate jacuzzi, a lovely terrace, a large living/dining room and a full kitchen. The "extra bed" was not a bed but a lovely thick futon (Thai style) which we enjoyed.

The resort, however, is almost 10 years old and it shows. For someone who can' take a water stain on the silk bed head (probably from aircond.), some stain at the mirror's edge, etc, this is not the resort for you. We feel some touch-up/ refurbishment is needed to stay 5 star/ SLH and good to hear the management is planning for that in the upcoming low season.

In all, a lovely resort, 4-41/2 star facilities. We felt it was a great value for about USD 200/night for a lovely Sala pavillion. A great place for a quiet, relaxing stay, but not for those who are looking for shopping and night life. Ao Nang, though, is only 20 min drive away. The resort has a shuttle at 5 pm out there and back at 9 or 10, also another shuttle to Krabi town walking street on the weekend.

What a beautiful and peaceful place. We stayed 4 days, but i whish I could have stayed there much longer. Everything was exceptional, especially the staff. they were all very attentive and eager to make your stay very comfortable. The rooms were large and lots of window so you could enjoy the beautiful trees all around. The pool is one of the highlight of the resort. It is large and just the right temperature. The food at the restaurant was very good too. I highly recommend this resort and you will not be disappointed. Looking forward to go back next year.

Room Tip: Request a villa on the second level, it has a better view and more light.
