Great pool, wonderful spa, amazing sunsets. The beach is great for walks not so great for swimming as there are too many rocks but takes nothing away from this boutique resort. The staff is super friendly and very accommodating. The wifi really is free not just for an hour as in most resorts today, and available everywhere even the pool side. The breakfast is a bit limited but i would return. For those not looking for a nightlife or shopping this resort is in a really quiet part of Krabi.

We stayed in nakamanda over Christmas. We were so impressed with all aspects of the stay. The resort is described as a small luxury hotel, the rooms are all very private and set away from each other. The standard of customer service was exceptional; the staff could not help us enough. We had a drink with the owner on boxing day, which reflects the small, non commercial aspect of the hotel. The restaurant food was very good and eating our breakfast on the beach, looking out to the sea can not be beaten. The spa was lovely. Internet connection throughout the resort was essential to us over the Christmas period and it did not let us down, the connection and speed was excellent. we used the kayaks one day which was fun and went to hong island another day, which was good to see but quite busy. We went to krabi town one day and were hugely disappointed....it's not worth coming away from the hotel!

If you want a busy action packed holiday, this is perhaps not the location for you but if you want a peaceful, quality hotel, this is the place for you. Can't be beaten.

There is little I could think of wanting from a vacation that I did not find here at Nakamanda -- the facilities were top-notch, the staff thoughtful and eager to help, and the location tranquil and beautiful. The beach is nicer around the corner at Beyond, because of the tides; but that's just a two-minute walk away, and Nakamanda's accommodations are far warmer and more romantic than any of the other hotels in the area. This was by far the highlight of our trip.

We stayed at this resort for 5 days last February. Some things that might help knowing -
Location: It is a gorgeous property with lovely tropical gardens surrounding the villas. The villas themselves are well spaced out hence giving a lot of privacy. A little off the chart - far from the 'touristy' locations - which worked for us coz we were looking for a quiet vacation, but might be a bit of a problem if you want to be close to the shopping / eating hot-spots. There are however plenty of small eating places around the resort and you can always rent out bikes to get to other places far away.
Accommodation: It is a beautiful hotel with very spacious villas. We stayed in a Sala villa on the second floor which had stunning views of the sea. They have an open bathroom, tub and separate his/her dressing areas.
Service: Impeccable service. Right from the pick-up at the airport to the the time we were dropped back there was not one thing we could complain about in terms of service. Everyone at the reception, the pool, the restaurant and the spa was always courteous and was willing to go out of their way to make your experience just perfect.
Food: The breakfast spread is great and the food delicious and so was the Thai set dinner. There isn't too much on the menu to have every meal there but you can always step out and enjoy delicious local food at one of the small eateries around.
Trips: The hotel can help you get on day trips to places around - Phi Phi, Hong Island. We opted for the Hong Island day tour by a long tailed boat. It was a lovely trip and totally worth doing - do set out early in the morning though else it gets really crowded. The hotel provides packed lunch as a part of the package and it is pretty sufficient for the day. For the other trips though we opted for local tour organizers (a place right opposite the Nakamanda) as the tours were more reasonably priced.
Facilities: The pool is gorgeous and we had a very relaxing couple massage at the spa. The spa can also organize a relaxing session for you in the comfort of your villa. Be sure to book an appointment early coz they are always booked. They have a library and a pretty decent DVD collection - in case you want to spend time snuggled up in your room.
All in all had a near perfect vacation.

Room Tip: Go for the rooms on the second floor - more privacy & better views than the ones on the first floor

Our family stayed here for 8 nights over Christmas and had a superb holiday.
It is set in lovely tropical gardens with spacious and secluded villas and from the bedroom and balconies on the second floor villas there are stunning views across the sea and nearby island.
The local Thai staff were amazing and friendly and couldn't do enough for you.
The location is very quiet and secluded although close to two other resort Hotels and there are shops and restaurants just outside the entrance.
There is little to do but to relax on the sunbeds by the pool overlooking the beach or on the daybed on your balcony overlooking the sea or take a stroll down the beach to a bar/restaurant close to the Sheraton Hotel and have a massage at the adjacent beachside parlour which we would highly recommend after 4 visits - excellent!
The beach is quiet and the water shallow and you can take a canoe from the Hotel (free) and go around the adjacent island. Great if you just want peace. We took a boat trip to the wonderful Hong Islands and Paradise Island which are both 30 minutes away + a more organised trip to James Bond Island which entails an hour in a minibus before catching a boat to the Islands, but still a very enjoyable day out.
I highly recommend this hotel and if you just want to do nothing but relax and be pampered and take in the breath taking scenery, this is perfect!
