We stayed 3 nights in Ao Nang and moved to Beyond for 2 nights on 12-13 Dec. I read some negative reviews here and we had only positive comments for the Beyond team.

My family and I had a wonderful experience from booking to leaving the resort! I made enquiries for the Deluxe Seaview room and Claude who is the GM responded all emails very quickly. Transfers from Ao Nang and departure to airport were flawless.

Views from lobby and our room are spectacular. I read about the bad experience of service staff at the bar and restaurant, but we have received good service throughout our 3 days.
Once at the pool, one staff didn't understand us but he soon brought another colleague who can speak better English to take our orders. The pool is super fantastic, perfect for all ages. Big pool wadding area at 0.4m only and jacuzzis and deeper end of 1.3m.

We tried the spa and the therapists are professional and the spa room is huge! Food wise, breakfast has a very good spread and the Fri Steak Nite is really nice with the duo band and relaxing sea breeze. It is a good change from 4 nights of Thai cruisine.

Outside the resort is a short stretch of local massage joints and cafés. We tried the massage joint directly opposite the resort and it was good. I took the recommendation of reviews to try Bai Tong cafe at the right corner side, it was our best meal in Krabi!

If you want more shops and nightlife, then the place to be will be Ao Nang, not here. We had the best of both worlds, so I strongly recommend for travelers to stay in both beaches if you can spare the time.

Dear Jennifer,

Thank you very much for your extensive feedback on Tripadvisor and for your valuable recommendations. We are glad to read that you enjoyed the facilities and services at the resort as well as to be more isolated and therefor much more quiet than in Ao Nang. Thank you for all your kind comments and also for your “excellent” score.

We hope we will get the opportunity to welcoming you and your Family back to Beyond Resort Krabi in the not too distant future.

Kind regards,
Claude & the Beyond Resort Krabi Team

For the final leg of our southeast Asian honeymoon, we wanted a bit of a beach holiday, but not one that would be too busy. As such, we opted for Krabi over Phuket, and the Beyond Resort, because it had its own beach front and was a little way out from Ao Nang.

The hotel itself was lovely - we had one of the rooms in the main hotel looking out over the sea - and the setting was fantastic. The views from the beach were beautiful! The pool was also fantastic, and suitable for all manner of different users - old, young, swimmers, layabouts... It was superb.

However, we felt very let down by the staff.

On our first night at the hotel, we arrived quite late (about 9pm), so we popped down to the beach bar to see if we could grab a bite to eat. We ordered a couple of dishes but when they arrived, one of them was not what we had ordered. It took a minute to realise the mistake, as we were both tired from travelling and the dish was one that we might otherwise have ordered normally, but when we looked around to see if there was anybody to speak to, everybody had vanished.

When our waiter finally reappeared (about 5 mins later), we told him of the error, and he said "No, that's what you ordered". I could understand the error, as the item that had been brought was the one NEXT to the item we wanted on the menu, but "Shrimp" and "Beef" are quite distinct from each other in my experience.

After disagreeing about the order, the waiter didn't give us any kind of alternative, other than to take what was on the table, or nothing at all. He didn't offer to bring our original order, or to take away the mistaken one. And all the time, he was asserting that we were to blame, which is a point of debate, but not one that should really be put to the test in a resort that pitches itself as being 5*.

Eventually, it was resolved through a more senior waitress helping us to resolve the bill. We never did get our beef dish, but we paid the Beef price for our overpriced prawns.

Our disappointment continued later in the holiday, when we checked out. My wife was signing off the bill, and the PDQ machine was displaying the price to pay. The receipt had said something along the lines of £50 / 2500 THB payable, but the machine said £2500. My wife questioned this whilst I was in the bathroom, and I came back to find the reception staff telling my wife that she didn't understand English very well (she is Japanese).

This upset my wife quite a lot - particularly given the language problems we had experienced earlier in the stay - and smacked of an arrogance I have never come across in any hotel - let alone one that holds itself in such high regard.

There are a lot of staff, but very few of them seem keen to help (I must exclude the housekeeping staff and porter staff from that statement - they were excellent). This is particularly noticeable around the bar and pool area, and given the number of reviews here on TripAdvisor that raise that same point, I am mystified that nothing has been done about it.

A few simple changes to staff management could make this resort absolutely superb, but as it stands, the service really drags it down. In terms of facilities and location, this place is a sure-fire 5/5, but the service is a 1/5. I was generous and took the average.

Dear Sir,

Many thanks for having taken the time to post a review on Tripadvisor and for the detailed description of the two service issues you faced during your four days with us.

Please accept my most sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. I believe though that there was a misunderstanding when our receptionist was referring to the English level. She merely tried to explain that her English was not very proficient and was seeking for further clarification from your wife. Please be assured that our staff are trying their best to serve our guests in a courteous and efficient way and I am sorry if they occasionally fail to do so. The team continues to work hard to ensure that there are no service failures and if one does occur, it should get rectified on the spot. Senior management is on the property seven days a week from early morning onwards and late evenings are covered by a Duty Manager.

Since you referred to some other reviews, may I please elaborate a bit further. A lot of time and efforts were spent to train the teams during the more quiet months of this year. As a consequence, the skills of the staff have improved. Unfortunately at the same time, their improved skills opened new opportunities for them and some have now joined more luxurious resorts. There is a manpower shortage in Krabi and the staff available are often under-qualified. This makes is difficult to offer a consistently high level of service throughout the year. Please be assured that this is not meant to be an excuse. We are relentlessly working on overcoming these issues and to compensate for these shortages by other means. The service continues to get better and better as mentioned in numerous guest reviews and if something does go wrong, we are here to assist.

Again, please accept my most sincere apologies for not having been able to provide you with a more enjoyable stay and for resolving these issues when you were here.

Kind regards,
Claude & The Team

Heya travellers!

Namaste....!

This is my first attempt to pen down the reviews about the RESORT which I am really excited about. That's Beyond Resort, Krabi. I would rather make it very simple so that its easy to comprehend & you could click right away to make an online booking!

My rating structure & reasoning :

5 Stars : Only if it is exceptionally great on all parameters which includes;

A) Location - Uniqueness, ease of access to airport, beach, nearby restaurant, cafes, spa, local shows, shopping & nightlife. ( Nearby fun & facilities )

B) Service - Checkin-out, housekeeping, Reception, day tour service, serving staff at restaurant & Bar, Communication & language, room Service.

C) Cleaniness & Hygiene - Infrastructure, Qualities of Rooms & inhouse amenities.

D) Amenities - Beyond resort provided Outdoor Villas, ocean facing rooms , Pickup service to rooms, jacuzzi & infinity pool, beach spa & inhouse spa service, open beach lounge & bars, sun beds by the pool, buffet breakfast restaurant & on selected days dine & wine karaoke live barbecue food night ) Indeed, a WOW!!

E) What's extra for Us/ is it value for money - This is the most critical factor in deciding if our so called planned/unplanned/last minute trip is gonna be " the " trip. Simply to make sure its WORTH it.

( Beyond Room rates are best-priced, mesmerising breathtaking view, private beach, infinity pool, open spa & happy hours btwn 4.30- 6.30pm @ beach bar, multi-culture, decent crowd makes it a very classy & personal experience with nature's touch ;-)

##########$$$$$.5##############

So, Beyond Krabi resort takes 4/5 stars wherein it loses out 0.5 star deduction for ease of access to outside facilities & 40-45mins car drive from Ao nang beach, not to miss if it's Krabi!! But at the same make sure it will comfort you beyond any extent if relaxation & inhouse fun is what you looking for...!!

0.5 star deduction on the basis of language & communication, arrangement of local trips around but that can be easily taken care by any local tour operators available across the stretch. Mainly at the Ao Nang beach stretch.

Beyond should definitely be a part of your top 3 shortlisted resort if in and around Krabi. And it's a truly affordable 4 star with value for money feature. I would suggest, dont even think..Go for it!!

Recommended things to do :
#1 phi phi island trip from aao nang - 1100 - 1400 baht ( Act smart & tell them you are being offered 1100 baht for a speed boat ride )

#2 Emerald pool : dark forest pool experience, I couldn't personally go but looks dammn exciting!! Service available at beyond too. But look out outside as well...!!

Cheers & have a fun loving and exciting trip as always..!! Will try an upload few pictures from beyond soon...

sayonara!!

Dear Sir,

Many thanks for having taken the time to post a review on Tripadvisor.

Thank you for all your comments and recommendation. It takes about 15 minutes to drive to Ao Nang. However, if you do not know the road that local drivers take it may take you 30 minutes or more.

We clearly advertise the resort being 15 minutes away from Ao Nang and this is exactly why most of our guests choose our resort; to be away from crowds and to enjoy a serene beach in a quiet and natural environment. It is a bit harsh not to give the resort an “excellent” score despite calling it “Beyond Imagination”.

Thank you again for having taken the time to share your feedback with us. We will be delighted to hear from you again and to welcome you back to Beyond Resort in the future.

Kind regards,
Claude & the Team

After travelling around Asia we were looking forward to a relaxing break in Krabi. We were also on our honeymoon and had informed the hotel before we arrived. A little disappointed that this was not acknowledged in any way by the hotel. Just a congratulations would have been something! Whilst on our travels each of the other hotels we had stayed at had at least offered their congratulations, some had upgraded us, others had decorated the beds, supplied a cake and some even wine.

We had booked a cottage room which was nice. It was quite a walk but sometimes the staff did offer us a lift which was appreciated.

The beach was by far the best we had seen, and the sea was really safe to swim in and had very clear warm water. The pool was just as nice.

The service of the staff could be improved, mainly the bar and restaurant staff. We could be the only ones in the bar and a group of staff would rather stand together and chat or look at their phones rather than come and serve us. We found ourselves approaching them rather than the other way round. We asked 3 times for an iron to be brought to our room, eventually we contacted Oliver one of the managers (who was great and always went out of his way to help).

During our stay the hotel ran out of Singapore beer, which we couldn't believe, the evening before we left they could only offer Heineken, and the next day at lunch it was the same.

The food was generally good but generally served luke warm. There was plenty of choice but like all the other reviewers we loved the restaurant across the road called Bai Tong.

Found it a little surprising that the hotel hadn't yet put up any Christmas decorations, as all the other hotels we had stayed at had. Would of been lovely to have had Christmas music or at least some Thai, rather than the heavy clubbing music that was always playing in the bar.

Dear Sir,

Thank you very much for having taken the time to write a review.

We are glad to see that in general you enjoyed to stay and we are sorry to see that you that there were a number of issues.

We normally do offer some amenities to Honeymoon guests. I am sorry to read that we missed out on yours and I am checking the reservations correspondence to see what happened to avoid this from happening again.

I noted the feedback about the service in the Food & Beverage department. Please be assured that we are working hard to have better and more consistent supervision is in place at all times. I am sorry for delay of the iron to your room. The staff should have explained and apologized for the lengthy delivery.

Beer sales over the weekend you were here were exceptionally strong and we did indeed run out of stock of two out of three local beers on Sunday night. The stock should have been replenished the next morning but it was not done until the afternoon. Thank you for having brought it up and I am sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Since Christmas is not part of the Thai calendar or culture, we will only have some rather understated interpretation of Christmas decoration for a short period of time. I am sorry if this is not to your liking.

We hope to have the chance to welcome you again in 2014 so we can prove that we continue to improve the service we offer.

Kind regards,
Claude & The Team

Nice hotel, rooms and service from staff but a little isolated compared to Ao Nang.
Great for a quiet getaway but limited in terms of shopping and food.
Good amenities and facilities like pool and gym.
Nice, clean and long stretch of beach with amazing views.
Kids will love the crab colonies on islets near the beach.
Food and restaurant options limited so found ourselves wandering outside hotel in search of meals.
But downside is that nice restaurants outside are about 15 minute walk away from hotel, and a walk along the main road can be quite dangerous and unpleasant as huge and noisy gypsum laden lorries pass through that stretch frequently on their way to or from the mine.
Another option is to walk through the beach and through Sheraton Krabi to get to nice restaurants either in Sheraton or in Klong Muang Plaza and along main road, but wouldn't recommend walking through the beach at night as the tide can rise quite quickly.
Easy access to taxis and tuk-tuks outside the hotel if you need to get to Krabi town or Ao Nang.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for sea view rooms or villas, otherwise you may end up with one that is far away from the beach with not much of a view - especially cottages that are located quite far from the beach and nearer to the noisy road.

Dear Sir,

Many thanks for having taken the time to post a review on Tripadvisor.

Thank you for your comment about the Food & Beverage options on the resort and surroundings. For dinner, our @ Beach Bar & Restaurant offers a Thai and a Western a la carte menu. We also offer set menus as well as very attractively priced seafood towers. Three times a week we feature a different themed buffet dinner with live music. The resort is indeed about 10 to 15 minutes away from Ao Nang which makes it easily accessible for a bit more action and at the same time it keeps our beach rather deserted and serene.

Thank you again for having taken the time to share your feedback with us. We will be delighted to hear from you again and to welcome you back to Beyond Resort in the future.
