“Wonderful stay in the villa”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2013

Beautiful, new resort in a more isolated area, which I certainly prefer to staying in either krabi or ao nang, since the beach is so much better. There are multiple grocery stores, bike and scooter rentals, laundromat, tour companies nearby and many restaurants. (I recommend mother's. Baan Thai is good too, but the service is very slow).

Staff were very helpful and spoke English. The worked out many issues for us, and I have to say that this may be the best hotel service I received in all of Thailand. The rooms were cleaned impeccably every day.

A few misc things: free wifi in room was good, but not strong enough for streaming videos. Free Breakfast was wonderful, but the Rest of the food there was too expensive. The infinity pool was gorgeous. We did experience the toilet smell a few brief times during our stay, but I think plumbing issues are a given in the entire country. The hotel does offer a shuttle to ao nang for 200baht a person round trip, but it is cheaper to arrange it yourself.

Bottom line: I'd stay here again when I return to the area.

Dear Sir,

thank you very much for your review about our Resort and the surrounding area. We are pleased to see that you enjoyed your stay with us and the service offered by our employees.

We have now two options for the Wi-Fi connection; we provide it at regular speed in the lobby and the restaurant and bar free of charge and there is an option, against a reasonable charge per stay, to have a hi-speed connection in the room. We are making further enhancements to the ventilation of the drainage system and this should resolve the issue once and for all in all the concerned rooms. I am sorry if this has caused any inconvenience and we appreciate your understanding.

It was a pleasure having you stay with us and we look forward to having the pleasure of welcoming you back to Beyond Resort Krabi in the future.

Kind regards,
Claude

I have a mixed review of the Beyond Resort in Krabi. It started off extremely bad. After speaking wto reservations a day before arrival confirming our arrival, confirming a pick up at airport for the 6 of us (4 adults and 2 young kids) we arrived to the hotel at 9PM. Our passports were taken, Agoda voucher taken and we were asked to enjoy a welcome drink in the lobby. After 20 minutes a staff member casually informed me that there is no room at the hotel and they are moving us to another hotel without much explanation. I demanded to see the manager who arrived 20 minutes later and explained that they are moving us next door for a couple of nights and we are free to use the hotel facilities and enjoy breakfasts at Beyond vs. the other hotel (Nakamanda). Things happen, I get it, but this could have been handled a little better - clearly they knew there was no room when we arrived and clearly they knew we were arriving given I spoke to reservations 24 hours before. To fast forward, Claude, the manager took care of the problem. He brought us back to Beyond and upgraded us to the villa rooms. Unfortunately I think Claude is dealing with poor staff. The rooms were not 100% ready e.g. not enough towels, no soap and shampoo and 1 of 2 rooms had 2 twin beds (the room with the 2 kids). We couldn't get a king size bed the entire week but Beyond did give us a cot and we were not charged. But again we were told that we would get a king size bed and if not the GM would get back to us, but never did. Just bad expectation setting.

Overall the stay was loads of fun. The Beyond pool is great, the beach in front is beautiful and the location is perfect to catch long tail boats to island hop. Unfortunately I think the staff just don't know what they are doing. Lunch was always messed up - from bringing us the wrong food, to messing up the bill to not knowing how to set the table (setting the table for 2 vs. 4 when they see 4 of us). The staff didn't know the menu, etc. etc..

Would I return to Beyond? Good question. I think Claude, the GM, understands the hospitality business but his staff aren't good and don't follow through on requests. (I had to call a few times to get our room cleaned). We spoke to several other guests who either did not have a room on check in as well and had to be moved, had problems at the restaurant with the bill or general little annoyances like no soap or shampoo that while not a big deal, begin to feel big when compounded with all the other issues.

Also feels like not a lot of thought was put into the renovation of the hotel. For example, the lobby is beautiful - but there is only 1 elevator to take you up and down the 5 floors to reach the beach and breakfast area.

Ultimately we had a good time so I would go back to Beyond. It's great for kids, but if the issues are not solved it will be my last time.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for having taken the time to write a review.
I would like to apologies again for the inconvenience caused by relocating you and your Family to the resort next door for the first night. A number of mistakes from our reservations personnel only became apparent when it was too late to rectify the situation.

The English level and qualification of potential employees in the area are not on a very high level. As a consequence, this transpires in the resorts and more obviously in a relatively new property like ours. As we go along, the situation will continue to improve mainly due to an intensive training and English language program that we will run through 2013.
Please do let us know if you visit the area again in the future. I will be pleased to make you a special offer. We would like to prove that we are a superior 4* beach resort offering a high level of service and great value for money.

Kind regards,
Claude

what it means to be 4 star hotel:

1) provide toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, tooth brush.
2) make beach towels available at pool side, rather than make guests carry their own from rooms. 3) Fix the source of the sewer smell wafting into the open air cafe
4) have a bath tub even for the affordable level of accommodation (cottages) at over $200 per night, I'd expect that much.
5) train your staff to be attentive in the dining room
6) make sure faucets, shower toiletry holders are in good working condition, solidly attached to the wall.

Being 4 star resort is more than just appearing 4 star on the outside - Beyond resort has some
ways to go.

Where to eat:
the beach side restaurant Ruen Siam by far the best restaurant around the resort. Better than The Coconut. Ruen Siam can be reached from the hotel beach - l5 min walk on the beach left hand side while facing the sea.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for having taken the time to write a review.

I am sorry to read that not all your expectations were met and I appreciate your feedback.

I have noted your comment on the bathroom amenities and we are already working on upgrading the standard set-up.

During your stay, we had an issue with the grease trap behind the @ Beach Bar & Restaurant kitchen which was rectified within a couple of days. I am sorry if this caused any inconvenience during your stay.

We are in the process of continuing an intensive training and English language program that we will run through 2013 and this will further improve the service standards.

We have identified an issue with the design of the wall fixture of towel rack in the Cottage rooms and we are in the process of rectifying this.

Thank you again for staying with us and for your feedback. We hope we get a chance to welcome you back to Beyond Resort Krabi and I am sure you will notice improvements.

Kind regards,
Claude

After staying for a week in a hustle, bustle of Ao Nang we have decided to have a relaxing beach experience in Klong Muang Beach. It is about 40 minutes away from Ao Nang, cost approx. 700 bath by cab.
First experience of Beyond resort is a stunning lobby on level 5 with panoramatic view of beautiful beach and a pool area.

Resort is basically divided into 3 areas:
1- New main building all rooms have sea views
2- Villa rooms , most not with sea views but close to the beach
3- Cottages ... when they loaded our luggage in to tuk- tuk we realised that it will be somewhere far away. It was over a hill and to the right next to entry tucked away, it looked like it is not a part of the complex. Semidetached cottages were recently updated, but they forgot about sound insulation, as we could hear what our neighbours were up to.

Generally every self contained resort we had been previously got stunning landscaping and it was pleasure to walk around and explore gardens, sorry not this one. Walk from cottages is very boring as landscaping is poor - non existing. It is particularly disappointing as there is not much else close to close vicinity, if you don't mind walk on the narrow road without footpath (dark at night) about 1 km to right the is little shopping centre Klong Muang Plaza with few restaurants and souvenir shops and 7-Eleven.

Word of warning there are weird sea micro organisms in the water ( invisible), Thai call them " Taan Talay," they bite, no marks, but it is quite annoying , but if you are allergic to bites take vinegar with you. I was told it is seasonal.

Best experience was to hire a private long boat for a day for 2000 baths, for 30 minutes ride to a small island - Koh Hong. It is a nature reserve (you have to pay an entry fee ), it is fantastic, white sand , crystal clear water. Take some bread with you and feed tropical fish.

Dear Sir,

thank you very much for your extensive review.

The landscaping in some areas of the resort is less mature than others but about 80% of the vegetation existed prior to the resort. The public road towards the Klong Muang Plaza, a 700 meter walk has street lights but those were recently defective. They have now been repaired but do not seem to be on every night.

The micro-organisms in the sea are not present on a regular. They also occur on other beaches in the greater area like in Phuket or Khao Lak for example. They may give a bit of a sting but are harmless as such.

Thank you again for your feedback. We hope we get the chance to welcome you back to Beyond Resort Krabi in the future.

Kind regards,
Claude

We stayed at the Beyond for 10 days over Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is fairly new hotel with some good facilities, a great beach and a lovely villas that give that real "getaway" feeling. It is quite away from Ao Nang so it would have been more helpful if there was a second bus in the morning to town along with the 5pm one.

On the downside they do need to improve their website as it was very confusing to understand the room bookings. There are no pictures of the outside of the villas so was not sure what we were getting. They "upgraded" us to the main building which does have a view of the ocean but the rooms are definitely inferior to the villas and much noisier so have no idea why they would charge more for these rooms. It is also awkward to get to the pool and beach from these rooms as you must always pass through the restaurant. They also need more stairs at the villa end of the resort to access the beach.

Service needs strong improvement and most staff lack language skills in reception and restaurants. Also lunch service is a bit disorganized as although I counted 10 to 12 staff in the lunch area I still had to get my own cutlery every lunch and always had to ask for a napkin. Most staff are on trainee status so hopefully the very capable and organized F&B manager, Mr. Moo will get that in order.

Room Tip: water view villas are in nice location with easy access to the beach.

Dear Sir,

thank you for having taken the time to post a review.

We are glad to see that you in general enjoyed your stay with us. We are in the process of improving our web-site in terms of text and a series of new pictures which will be more self-explanatory. I appreciate your comments in regards to the price strategy between the large villa rooms and the Deluxe sea view rooms which are located in the main building. One Villa room offers more space whereas the Deluxe room offers a stunning sea view. The price difference will be reduced as we realize that guests prefer either more space or a sea view based on personnel preference. In regards to the access to the pool, we are looking at the feasibility of adding additional access points. We are also working on a daily basis on improving the English level and the skills of the staff. It is very difficult to find qualified staff with a good level of English in Krabi. However we are making progress.

Thank you again and we hope we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back to Beyond Resort Krabi.

Kind regards,
Claude

Beyond Krabi is modern and has nice views to the sea but the rooms are small and beds are somewhat uncomfortable. It is slightly overpriced for what it is and the food mediocre! The redeeming factor is that right outside the Hotel there are some very good food options especially MotherHouse ( fantastic! try the steamed whole fish ) - I also went for a foot massage outside the Hotel to then discover that Beyond Krabi hires the same masseuse to run their spa but at 4X times the price! THis led me to believe that Beyond Krabi are overcharging and not being transparent with their clients! In the modern world of traveling I expect more from resorts instead of making a quick buck! The beach is nothing special in front of the hotel but just rent a long tail boat right in front of Hotel and you will get to see some great Islands and beaches- The overall rating for me is 3star with 3 star service and property but trying to get 4 star prices!

Dear Sir,

Thank you for having taken the time to write a review.
I am sorry to read that you did not entirely enjoy your stay.

The comfort of our beds is generally appreciated by our guests. For guests who comment on the eight inch thick mattress being a bit hard, we can arrange for a softer top.

I am sorry if the dishes you ordered did not meet expectations. In general the feedback about breakfast, dinner buffet and a la carte dishes is very good and we are monitoring the consistency.

During the time of your visit, we experienced unusual low and high tides. This happens only twice or three times a year during full moon periods. Also at the moment the currents carry slightly darker sand with them than during other times of the year, when the sand is nearly white.

In regards to the Spa, we are outsourcing some therapists at the moment due to a lack of full time therapists. Whereas some of the regular treatments offered would be similar to the ones at a local massage parlor, we offer a larger choice of treatments and the experience itself in our luxurious, private treatment rooms with shower, steam bath and a large Jacuzzi in one of the rooms is superior to those of any local massage parlor.

We will continue to work hard to further improve our services and facilities and in general, we are making good progress.

Please do let us know if you visit the area again in the future. We will be delighted to welcome you back and to prove that we are a 4* beach resort offering a high level of service at great value for money.

Kind regards,
Claude

We stayed a few days at Beyond Resort Krabi in November while transiting from Koh Lanta to Bangkok and had an amazing time. To start with, the beach front location is definitely the best in Krabi. Direct access from the hotel to the long white sandy beach and its turquoise indian ocean is absolutely wonderful. For couples, families or friends seeking a sunny getaway at one of Thailand's most beautiful beaches, don't look further. As for the hotel accommodation, we had a Grand Deluxe Seaview Suite and were so happy with the choice. The balcony was huge and the view (especially sunset) can only be described as spectacular. In the evening it is so relaxing to have a glass of wine while enjoying the sparkling ocean and its stunning sunset. In-room facilities are five-star: Jacuzzi, double-double comfortable bedding, rain-shower, flat screen TV, dressing area, etc. These suites are limited and I think reservation needs to be made in advance in order to get one! Breakfast was really good with a big variety of selection from Asian cuisine to Continental breakfast. We also enjoyed the Nov28th Fullmoon Festival buffet, the hotel also provided balloons for guests to release in the sky as well as banana leaf floats to send into the ocean. The hotel staff was out on the beach to assist hotel guests light up the balloons. We thought that was really thoughtful and particularly appreciated the nice atmosphere!

Hotel staff might not speak the best English but they were all very friendly and tried their best to assist us in anything we asked. We really didn't mind the English because we were in Thailand for an authentic experience - at Beyond Resort Krabi we felt that!

We will come back and we recommend the resort!
