A relaxing place to get back to nature and enjoy some world-class fishing. Stayed in a cabin last year and a room this year. Both were cozy and provided good sleeps! The best part of the stay is sitting by the river with a glass of wine at dusk.

Have stayed at resort on 3 different occassions. Everyone from the front desk to the boat dock guys to resteraunt have treated us awesome... Cabins are super clean and comfortable. Restaraunt is a little pricey but it does taste great, never had a bad meal, they will even cook your trout you catch anyway you like(for a price) and have served at your dinner. swimming pool is nice in the summer, so is watching the airplanes. Wildlife EVERYWHERE on the grounds its very nice my son absolutly loves it. My only complaint would be that with your cabin they gave you a free jon boat so all I would do is bting my 9.9 hp outboard pay less than $20 for qas and fish for 4 days, well the last time I went I hauled my motor but was told when I arrived no more free boat and I would have to pay like $57 per day for boat(no motor) or $137 for motor/boat/chairs.. I was not happy to hear that since thats over $200 I did not plan on having to spend. Overall the place is perfect for any family and both my son and fiance keep wanting to go back every summer. Im not sure if I will return due to the boat issue, and their are tons of other SMALLER cabins that do include boat or is considerably cheaper so I wouldnt have to haul my motor. But if you dont care about the boat then I will say this would be my first choice

Room Tip: Ask for cabin as close to the front desk as possible if you have children. Everything from pool, do...

No water for hydro electric generation,we fished from banks just like when we were kids, still caught plenty of fish.
The people at Gaston's are great with thier properties, excellent resturant, good bar & bar tenders,
Plenty of fire wood for cabins even salted the steps and walks after an ice storm.
These little pink house will always be special to me.
Thanks for another fine trip.

Several improvements since our last stay but that's to be expected here. New flooring and kitchen appliances in our cabin. This is a nice place to go and chill out. Staff are very attentive and the grounds are impeccable.

My husband, dog and I recently spent three days at Gaston's White River Resort. It was beautifully decorated for the Christmas Season and a crew was busy mowing and sprucing up the grounds even in Dec. Check-in was efficient and friendly, (Winter rates and a treat bag for Sparkie). We had already reserved guide service for a full day of trout fishing, so Hubby was able to purchase his AR fishing liscense and because we brought no tackle, we were told that he would be able to rent all equiptment at the dock.

Our cabin was one of the Standard Housekeeping ones with a kitchen and granted they are not "modern" (no flat screen, dark wood paneling) they were very well done and extremely clean. A crew came by each day with lots of clean towels and checked to see if we needed anything. I did have internet but could have used more reading light. The cabins are right above the river with a charcoal grill just outside the door.

My husband fished the next day and was really pleased with the number of fish he caught. He fished from 7am, came in for lunch and fished again till probably 3. His guide, Roger, pointed out an Eagles's nest with one on the nest and gave him lots of info about the area. While he fished, Sparkie and I walked one of the nature trails and saw peacocks, guineas, turkeys and other birds. We also walked along the river edge. You are also close enough to drive into Mountain Home for shopping which we did the next day while doing some sightseeing.

During the winter season, the Restaurant is only open on weekends. One night we ate at Club 178 in Bull Shoals which was fine. The next night Sat. we ate at the restaurant at Gaston's. We did make reservations as requested. Even thought there was almost no one in the Restaurant (we ate at 6) they had several Christmas parties scheduled. Our waitress Dee was friendly and efficient. She told us that they had a new chef. I had smelled the aroma of good things cooking all afternoon and took her up on the special which was prime rib. Yum, yum. Husband had grilled fish which he said was very good. Also had a glass of the Post Familie Cabernet which was quite good.

All in all Gaston's is a great place to relax and take in the beautiful scenery. We would certainly go again.

The staff was wonderful, they go over and above to provide "first class" customer service. Was not there to fish, just soaking up the beauty of the area. The fall colors were fabulous. This place had more to offer than I ever expected. And be ready...it is so very quite at night.

The sky was overcast as we maneuvered for 'position' in the early morning fog. Being one of the first boats out with our guide positioned us for a great start to a day of trout fishing on the White River. The overcast sky kept temperatures down most of the day. It was not until mid afternoon, and about 18-20 rainbow and brown trout later, that the sun finally burnt through.
This is a resort known for it's location on the White River and for fishing, so don't expect four star accomodations. The cabins are clean and convenient to the lodge, restaurant and the river.

Thank you for your kind review ... Just wanted to let you know the mim-flow for the White River is now "real" after many years of work. This means more water on the low water days and more areas of food for the trout :-) ... the White River just keeps getting better.
