We happened upon this absoluetly beautiful place while we were looking for a spot to pull over and eat a picnic lunch on our day trip. We got out of the car to look around and a gentleman working for the Arkansas State University site on the plantation immediately came out and offered to take us inside for a tour. He was very informative, friendly and allowed us to take our time with all of our questions and ponderings. The house itself is so perfectly preserved and there are beautifully restored artifacts and pictures all over every room, each labeled with carefully detailed information of the times and lifestyles of that time period. Such a lovely surprise to find this spot. If you are looking for some education about pre-civil war life, slavery and how plantations were run, this is the ticket! Recommend!
