Golden sands, waves of sea, reading a book in your hammock; what else do you need when you want a break from the hustle bustle of a city life. Loved the morning yoga sessions, a dip in the pool, badminton, evening Chai and nights shows. All the staff are so courteous and always ready to help.
I had gone with my 2 yr old son for 3 nights and he didn't get bored!! All the staff had become his friends.
Scrumptious buffet but My only complaint is lack of good vegetarian dishes but I had good options in a la carte.
A must visit place if you really don't want to do NOTHING.

Marari beach resort by CGH group is a gem of a property in alleppey .The resort is just 20 min drive from the train station. On arrival you feel you are entering a rainforest resort ...the check in was smooth ,,,,,we had a good offer from hotel for 3 nights which was great compared to the rack rates .

we stayed in a garden villa ...rooms very cozy and comfortable with open bathroom which we enjoyed .the house keeping is prompt and regular .........

The hotel has a stunning neat beach .....which is not private but still its all for yours ....they have security and coastguard always on stand by which is good ......beach was neat and good for swimming ..........

There were lot of hammocks near the beach which were relaxing all day ......the food was good ..the breakfast was good .....dinner was always a buffet with a variety of local and western cuisine which we found great .....

All the staff were very friendly and helpful .............and dont forget to try the Ayurveda massage which was so relaxing ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Overall wonderful place to unwind away from the crowd and disturbances .......

We finished our three week honeymoon at the Marari Beach resort recently, staying for five days and decompressing from a pretty hectic trip around India.
When we arrived we were met warmly by a staff member from reception who checked us in at 10:30am (unheard of in other hotels) and talked us through all the features and different areas in the hotel. We noted a sign in reception asking guests to put tips in the box provided and not give to individual staff which was a relief after three weeks of constant tipping.
We were staying in a Garden Villa which we found to be spacious and comfortable, the outdoor bathroom in particular was stunning. The housekeeping staff had also made a lovely heart flower decoration on the bed to celebrate our honeymoon.
On looking around the resort we found a lovely big pool with plenty of sun loungers available, a cluster of palm trees with hammocks and sun loungers scattered amongst them and a beautiful beach whose water, whenever we saw it, was warm and calm enough to swim in.
We found two restaurants- the big buffet one where most people went and the Beach Grill, smaller and closer to the beachfront. After a few days of staying at the hotel we began to avoid the main restaurant. The service and food there were excellent, but a buffet meal cost 1500IRs per person which was a lot of money when we often didn't feel hungry enough for three courses. (There is an a la carte menu available too). Instead we ended up going to the Beach Grill where you could choose your own fish and prawns caught fresh that day and have them cooked however you want. It was delicious. If you go to Marari, definitely eat at the Beach Grill.
The other thing I can recommend at the resort is the free Meditation classes they run every day at 5:15pm. If you feel like de-cluttering your brain and learning meditation then you can attend a class with an experienced teacher who takes you through the steps. I really enjoyed it. They also offer free yoga classes in the morning too.
We didn't feel like doing any 'activities' whilst at Marari but there were day trips organised by the hotel available. We did get a tuk tuk to Alleppey and back for 400 IRs one day for a shopping trip but it wasn't that great.
Definitely one of the best things about this resort was the service. Without exception every person we met was polite, helpful and good at their job. Chefs would often appear to talk you through the food on offer in the evenings, security guards on the beach would wish you a good morning on your way for a morning swim and the bar staff were very attentive, making excellent cocktails and going to great lengths to ward off mosquitoes.
I can imagine that, if you're interested in 'doing' more, then Marari could feel a bit 'quiet' after a few days. But if, like us, you want to really relax and soak up the beautiful atmosphere, then this is the place for you. Watching the sun set over the ocean every evening was a real treat.

It is an enormous resort with a lovely stretch of beach. The staff are very friendly. The breakfast buffet is good.
But it is extremely expensive, and like many top range places even once you have paid a lot for your room they continue to try to make lots of money from you, often at very poor value. Meals and drinks are overpriced and even for the transfer from Kochi they quoted me more than double what anybody else in Kochi charged (obviously we didn't take them up on their offer!). The seafood restaurant is quite a good example - it was excellent at dinner time with fresh fish so we were happy to pay european prices+, but at lunch the food was poor yet still exceptionally pricey for Indian standards.
Basically they have a captive audience and they abuse that a little, although to be fair they do offer quite a lot of free things, such as yoga.
The wifi is quite slow, has an irritating log-in system and is only available in a couple of communal areas.
We had a lovely time but did so in the knowledge that we were being ripped off for two days. If you can just forget how much everything costs then you will really enjoy the luxurious splendour.

After spending 2 weeks in the Delhi area that included attending a wedding, going to Agra to see the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort, then a quick overnight at Fort Neemrana, we were ready for some down time. Marari Beach couldn't have been better! The arrival experience is personal and welcoming. The individual thatched-roof huts with their outdoor bathrooms were charming and comfortable. Do bring bug spray as there are mosquitos day and night. Staff were friendly and polite. The general manager was visible all day long from the breakfast room to late night dinner. I've worked in hotels for 27 years and can see their staff selection, training and operational systems are well thought out and effective. Very impressed with their environmental efforts, that included the charming use of goats to keep the grass short. The beach was very clean, the water beautifully warm, just watch out for the waves, they can be powerful (we lost 2 pairs of sunglasses and a hat to the sea!).
We enjoyed the hammocks under the coconut trees along the beach to the pool in late afternoon with food and refreshments served quickly at both areas. Breakfast buffet was very good and offered both local and continental options. Tried their seafood restaurant one night. We asked the chef to prepare a sampling of seafood dishes - delicious! Enjoyed the morning garden and butterfly tour. We would definitely return.

Room Tip: If you prefer not to walk too much, then request a hut close to the pool area as the beach services...

We stayed for two nights after travelling round Kerala. We aren't resort people but we found this resort very relaxing. The rooms are very comfortable and cool, the outside bathrooms are a nice touch, the pool area is great, the beach is beautiful and empty (and I like the way the sun beds are set back slightly so not to ruin the look of the beach) and the service was wonderful. We ate in both the restaurants and the food is to a high standard. The whole layout and eco stance is also very good. We would have got bored after another night- but that's probably just us. Defo recommend for a few nights/ days of relaxation- a truely traquile, quiet experience

We were a group of 5 from UK who came to this Resort after a very bad experience from a House Boat Cruise.

Staff at Marari Beach Resort especially Visnhu was excellent and went out of his way in providing us with accommodation and transfers at 2 am in the morning.

The service was like being back at home.

Our stay at the Resort cannot be compared to any other 5 star Resorts that we have previously stayed in India.

The excellent beach, food and the most courteous staff in this Resort made our stay most enjoyable and memorable.

Following this we also stayed at the sister resort- Coconut Lagoon but in comparison found Marari Beach Service and Resort as outstanding.

We would definitely visit this Resort again for longer period and recommend to our friends and family.
