“Beautiful Infinity Pool - Management and Servers 5 Star”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2013

The grounds at Ocean Club Sosua are absolutely beautiful, very modern, beautiful infinity pool where you can lounge by the pool with your drink and appetizers. The staff were absolutely accommodating, polite and very happy to please.
I did not experience the Chef to be of "five star" quality and found his mannerism was not welcoming and felt dismissed by his arrogance. My feeling is that he picks and chooses who he accommodates rather than being professional and gracious to all patrons.
I live part time in Dominican and have experienced quality dishes from several restaurants such as Casa 21, Seahorse Ranch, Arsenios, etc. Many of these meals far outweigh the presentation and flavours at Baia Lounge. Although for the most part presentation was present, flavours did not flow to experience the ultimate taste testing nor did mannerism. Would love to experience the atmosphere again, gorgeous grounds, but am not interested to deal with the arrogance that was present. Its too bad, this could be a detriment to such a wonderful spot in the middle of Sosua.

“An Incredible and unique culinary experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2013

Having been to Sosua many times I never imagined this would be ever possible. A secret hidden place on an incredible beach with the best sunsets you can dream of.
Baia Lounge situated in The new ultra modern and minimalistic Ocean Club is just a place created in heaven for any culinary, wine & cigar aficionado.
The food prepared by Giancarlo Fiori is on a class of its own. There is simply nothing to compare to on the island. His 7 course tasting menus sends you on a culinary tour all over the world. We started with a sushi sampler accompanied by Saki and continued with a salmon tartar accompanied by Moët Chandon Ice. Then we had this combination of tuna tataki served over wakame with a small goat cheese & mango served in a philo pastry accompanied with a Sancerre. Next we travelled to Italy for a combination of fresh artisan lobster, Scallops & Red Snapper Tortelloni served in a seafood broth with pastis now accompanied by a nice bottle of Falangina. Chilean Sea bass served over a pumpkin puree and Orange sauce amazing served with a chilean Chardonnay from Lapostele. The final dish was a New Zealand Lamb combination served of course with a Merlot from Cloudy Bay from New Zealand.
The food with the wine tasting was the best value for money i have ever head anywhere in the world.
We also passed by on a Sunday for a quick pizza and a burger and the gourmet style and passion for food was also reflected in their fast food.
We totally recommend this as a must go when you are in the Dominican Republic.

“"10"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2013

We were in Sosua for two weeks and fell in love with Baia. The place has an amazing aura to it. Think Maui with a St. Barths touch. But at a fraction of the price.

Ambiance: Open air restaurant overlooking the beach and ocean with nice music in the background. Five star condo development is modern and beautiful with an infinity pool adjacent to the restaurant. Very romantic.

Food: We had several meals there including sushi, seafood and pizza. The sushi was fresh and creative and I would highly recommend. I would also highly recommend the chef's tasting menu. 7 courses and one of the best tasting menus that I have experienced. The chef walked out the fresh fish caught that day and asked our likes and dislikes. From there he created an amazing menu. (We actually did this a couple times as it was so good and there was plenty of variety on the menus).

Favorite dishes: Salmon Tartar, Chilean Sea bass, Lamb

WIne: Very nice selection of international wines ranging from $20 to very expensive reserves. We had some great wines from Chile, Argentina and Italy for about $30.

Service: Attentive without being on top of you. All the staff walk around with smiles and you can tell that they are happy to be there for you. My spanish consists of about 12 words and I never had a problem.

This is a special place...don't miss out.

“Can't Wait for More”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2013

We had expertly prepared cocktails and a lovely tasting menu prepared by Chefs on a recent trip. Best non-native food on the island.

Definitely THE place for a sunset cocktail (see StephanMark's review) on a night that dressing up feels in order. Stay for dinner: try the scallops with potato foam, salmon and mint cous cous and anything lamb is good.

The wine list boasts some interesting bottles even collectors could order but seems like it's still being put together. Can't wait to go back and see Baia and the club develop.

“Another great find in Sosua!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2013

Directly on the beach, we stopped in for a light lunch. The ultra sleek modern design of Ocean Club Residence and Spa also houses Baia Lounge. The beach view of the crystal clear blue ocean was stunning and where we were seated, we could also see the three infinity swimming pools cascading into one another... a view right out of a travel magazine.

We both opted for the mouthwatering baked crab and salad. Impeccable service. Highly recommend. Will definitely return!
