Reviewed March 10, 2012

a nice, smaller hotel with a little age but.. the beach great, the view from our room and the dining room was 5 star. the food was good, although somewhat repetitive after 9 days. this was our 4 trip to sousa in the past 2 years and our first time here. I would stay again and I would recommend to those that don't want to be bothered by "hookers" and "johns" and really don't want loud obnoxious music that plays late into the night. Remember that this is the D.R. - it is really a 2 or 3 star hotel but they really do a good job! felt welcomed the entire time! Our two waiters, Nicholas and Innocence were great!

Room Tip: we had b16 which overlooked the pool with an ocean view --- very nice

We had 2 weeks stay over xmas and new year 2011,on an all inclusive deal. The hotel could have done with a face lift, but overall the rooms were clean, the air con worked, but sometimes there was a lack of hot water. The hotel was run by very pleasant staff. There was a private beach, so no hawkers bothered you if you chose to use it.
The food was good and there was plenty of choice, the omlette chef at breakfast was always busy, lunch and dinner were always good with a variety of food. There were two bars, one by the pool and one in the restaurant area, both were well stocked and the presedente beer was always cold.
There was a gym, but the equipment looked a bit past it and seemed to be rarely used (not by me anyway as I came here for a rest!!)
There was also an internet room, but the equipment again was looking rather tired.
The hotel was not at full capacity when we were there.
Outside the hotel the local area was much to be expected, a bit run down, but plenty of bars/restaurants.
We would recommend going on the trips out organised by Chiqitto, a local who visited the hotel.
We went horse riding with him, up into the hills and down the river above Sosua and ate a great lunch provided by his sister. We also went out for the day visiting local attractions, the Blue Lagoon, Du Du waterfalls(where the local lads would dive off the top into the pool below, some 50 feet, for a small fee 50 pesos)We didn't try this out ourselves !! We also went snorkelling in the sea and stopped off at some of the other beaches in the area.
Overall we had a great time and will definately go back.

We really enjoyed the beautiful beach out front and the bar overlooking the ocean. The area was a little "seedy" otherwise but the staff at the hotel was nice, the food was decent and the rooms were nice. At one point in our stay, we had problems with our a/c and had to switch rooms. Overall, it was a decent place to stay.

After 2 weeks stay Jan-Feb 2011 while in the DR doing some missions work, I can say this is a really lovely hotel. It is located on the edge of town right between 2 beaches. We had breakfast and suppers at the buffet which for a smaller hotel still had good variety of food to eat. Our time off was often spent by the pool which was clean and pleasant with plenty of pool chairs. The rooms were tastefully decorated with big comfy beds and pillows, hot water in the shower and clean towels every day. Fridge in the room and fresh drinking water is supplied in the lobby at at the buffet. Older model in-room safe with a key lock. There is an internet room for which you buy time, it is reasonably priced, but sometimes the internet is very slow. There is also access to wireless connection within the hotel for a fee. but some areas of the hotel seemed to work better than others. The hotel is kept spotlessly clean. Air conditioner in the room worked great. And if something was broken we just had to let the front desk know and it was fixed later the same day. It is very well situated on the ocean right between 2 beaches. The staff were excellent, the service excellent, and I would definitely stay there again. I stayed there the year before for 10 days and was equally as pleased. the management seems to be doing a very good job.

Room Tip: Rooms on the second or third floor, sometimes ants crawl in to the ground floor rooms.

Great place for the price. Beautiful view of the sea. Food was decent by Dominican standards. I was a little miffed by them wanting to charge extra for internet, but que sera. Oh, and all the equipment in the fitness center was broken.

The building is a bit older but very well maintained with probably the best possible location above two great beaches (one private, one public). The staff is very friendly and the service is excellent. We really enjoyed our stay and felt incredibly relaxed after just 3 days here. The private beach was amazing, long, empty, beautiful to stroll and swim. The breakfast at the hotel restaurant was great, though dinner was just ok one night so we ate out the other nights.

We stayed in this hotel in january and the entire vacation was terrific! The hotel is situated in Sosua and you can either walk to the public beach next to the hotel (just a few steps down, so you can walk back up to the hotel if you want to get drinks) or to the beach in sosua bay (5-10min walk). Both are very nice. The private beach of the hotel was washed away after a big storm couple of years ago. The public beach belongs to the hotel nextdoor and you are not allowed to use their sunbeds, or you have to pay (10$ a day!!!), so we got sunbeds from our own hotel and used those everyday at the beach. . There are no sellers at the public beach next to the hotel, there are a lot of sellers at sosua bay, but if you politely say no, they will not keep on pushing and just leave.
The hotel was quiet, only 30% occupied, but that was great as we were there for a relaxing time. Plenty of room at the pool and no lines at the buffet (sometimes they even had a la carte dining!) The food was good and more than enough. You can either stay All Inclusive, but its not necessary as you can walk into sosua in the evening and there are plenty of restaurants for diner. Couple of supermarkets in the area as well. The staff was really friendly and helpfull, most of them speek english. All in all a really nice hotel and we enjoyed are stay very much!
A tip is to book a horsebackriding trip with Chiquito (he comes by the hotel a couple of times) which takes you into villages, mountains, rivers and all well prepared with drinks and lunch. We recommend it! He also does other trips on the island and the positive thing is its well organised and he takes only 6-8 people, so no big touristic busses etc. Far better than the trips provided by the big touristic tours!
