Speaking about accommodation - we stayed in private studio, first floor. I have no complaints related to our stay - it was perfect, room was clean and cleaning service done every day, they even washed our dishes. We didn't take "meal plan", but usually we had lunch and dinner at the camp's restourant, because it really worths! Everything you take is tasty and price is pretty fair for food (not for drinks!-)). Our stay was good, and it seems that we were lucky because... during our stay 3 rooms of the camp WERE ROBBED! Safes do not work - it's easy to crash the lock and police cannot help you! And each time the camp's workers were so impressed and said: oh, no this is first time, we never had such situations. Hm...

One more important thing - do not take the surf lessons here (and probably anywhere else in Cabarete), they don't provide a lesson! All they do - pushing you into the ocean, that's all. If it's first time for you and you just want to have fun instead of learning how to surf - should be ok.

Room Tip: Take studios behind the pool - they a quiet and with less humidity

Stayed here for three weeks during december/january 2013/2014. The cheaper rooms are what you can expect for 25 $ (included "breakfast"/dinner). Breakfast consisted of two pieces of bread and butter and jam, everything else cost extra. Dinner was OK.
In this place you meet nice people usually during dinner, when people gather around the same table. Made a lot of new friends which was mainly why I enjoyed the place!

The owner has some issues when a customer complains, he does not really care about anything else than money.. During my stay thief's broke into two rooms at the same time stealing some iPads, cash, travel checks etc. but the owner did not reality care after he was informed and did nothing about it. He just said that it is weird because there has not been any burglaries in the past 15 years. Two days went by and another burglary took place where the thief's took almost everything with value.. A lady got into a huge fight with the owner. Same story, "no burglaries in the past 15 years". After this roomers started spreading and someone even said that a lady had stayed here for three months in the beginning of 2013 and three burglaries took place back then.
The owner did not even care when a lady complained about a few rats in her room. (rats because her neighbour had food in his room).
I asked for the room rate without breakfast and dinner and I was told that "we do not sell rooms without meals" which was not true when asking people around. I would prefer my stay without meals just to have the option to eat somewhere else as well without loosing your money for already paid food.

So if you choose to stay here:
-do not expect anything fancy
-do not keep food in your room, there is rats in the environment (and cockroach, mosquitos, etc.)
-do not take valuable stuff with you
-make good friends
-do not include the meals (usually meals cost extra 10$)

Room Tip: If your picky, pay a bit more to get a nicer room, the cheapest ones beds/pillow/sheets where very old..

Our travel companion got robbed in her room. She had all her cash, jewelry, ipad and wallet stolen from her safe. They also took her iphone.
Whoever robbed her, knew the place well enough to act quickly, with her only a few meters away. As if that wasn't enough, the owner, Ali, and his partner Antonio treated her like she was responsible for her misfortune. They were both non compassionate, verbally abusive and aggressive. They stated that it had never happened before. The next morning, We quickly found out it had happened to 2 other female visitors in the prior week.
The local authorities were useless.
We all left the next morning

acceptable value for the money. stayed the couple years ago and I had no problems of staying there other than couple things:
the owner can act somewhat strange which is no big deal since you dont have to deal with him and you can keep your distance. the second that is quiet annoying is the surf instrauctor" Antonio I think" who can be a major pain with a stalker like attitude. one example i was talking to a friend at the camp away from others, he came close and was listening, then came up interupting saying nonsense stuff and I was like what the... had 3 days lessons- not because i needed instruction, just for warm up after years idle- instructor was a weirdo and they use a kite gear with unknown brand that is unsuitable for learning or even proper kiting and quiet dangerous with very unstable kite, they wasted 3 days of my time. ended up renting a gear from different place for about half price of what i wasted on them and going on my own for the next 12 days having a great time. although I dont mind staying there again but be carefull of tons of mosquitos and cockroaches and a piece of advice: dont bother dealing with their school

We (my fiance and I) had an awesome time! We were there for a week, and the food was great, the surfing was fun, the rooms were comfy, and the people we met were the best!
I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun surf camp.

Oh, and the walk to the main strip is NOT far - it takes about 10 mins.

Room Tip: We stayed in a bungalow - our only issues were: The sheer curtains left little to the imagination - bring a sarong or sheet to cover the window. And there was not really enough light to see well in the room. If you have a lantern for camping etc., bring it. Try to get the Tarzan room. Seriously. A friend we met there had it, and it's amazing.
