“Amazing Place!”
Reviewed May 1, 2012

My husband and I spent almost a week at this amazing place that offered ideal accommodations, GREAT food and easy access to the beach, sport's activities and night life. We will definitely be back for more surf lessons! People who run this place are amazing !!!

Five of my friends and I wanted a fun Spring break that was not the stereotypical rowdy and messy week but instead a combination of activity and great night life. Ali's Surf Camp was the IDEAL scenario. The staff is incredibly helpful, the meals are AMAZING, and the accommodations are exactly what you need for a week of surfing. There is a grocery store about 4 minutes away walking and the main kite boarding beach is about 7 minutes away. The surf camp has a place on the beach with free chairs, volleyball net, boogie-boards, and bathroom. The surf beach is about a 10 minute car ride away and an awesome place to learn how to surf or perfect former skills. Overall, the week was amazing. Whether lounging by the pool, surfing, partying on the beach, or just hanging out at meals with the other people staying at the camp, I would go back in a heart beat.

Room Tip: The apartments are a great deal

We stayed in the upstairs apartment. It slept 4 adults comfortably. We each had our own bathroom. It had a kitchen and a big balcony. We went in December. We went to surf. The waves were good. We just rented their boards, instead of bringing our own. It was a lot less hassle and the boards were satisfactory. There is a restaurant at the hotel that is very good, but slow. The area had some great food. The Mojito Bar is a must for lunch. It was a couple dollars for the most amazing sandwich and smoothie combo. Nightlife is good too. Several bars right on the beach with dance floors. There is a pool hall that the locals hang, that was fun. The hotel hires a van to take you to and from the beach twice a day. One day a week they go to Playa Grande. That is a 45 min. drive, with a beautiful beach, food and drinks right on the beach there and good surf. We went without kids, but would feel very safe bringing kids.

Nice place, good atmosphere, nice staff, i'd recommend it staying her if you're visiting cabarete. I stayed in the tarzanhouse for a few days and in a bungalow for a few days, both were nice and pleasant. During my stay i had dinner at the on sight restaurant, food was nice too. If i'm ever in the area, I'd stay here again. If your travelling solo, like I was, you'll meet other guest during dinner, which I really liked. Great international crowd, with new guests arriving every (few) days

On Frebruary 4th we reserved a room through HostelBookers.com and we paid 10% of the total price with a credit card. When we arrived at Cabarete Surf Camp there was no availability. We had to find another place at night instead of enjoying our night after 3 hours driving. We got no refund, no excuse and it seemed to be a normal situation for the staff.

I went to this camp with a group of girlfriends. We were looking for low-key, low-cost place to stay and take surf lessons. Jackpot. We had an amazing time. Elena, who handles reservations and checks you in, is a total sweetheart. Super helpful. At first, we were a little put off by having to eat at a picnic table, but it's brilliant. It basically forced us to interact with other guests and we ended up meeting some really great people. The meals at the surfcamp are out of this world good. (We're still talking about the fish and rice.) The beach / shops / restaurants are a short walk away. One of the highlights of our trip was renting a car and driving to the 27 waterfalls — absolutely amazing experience. I had such a good time, I'm going back in March. The funny thing is, when I emailed Elena to book a reservation, she remembered me from 2 years ago. That's the kind of place this is. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Unique and perfect place to stay in Cabarete if you are not a fan off turistmaskins and looking for something normal and cosy.

It`s a spesial unformal place with charm and soul. You get help to join diffrent activities. It`s easy to get know people both guests and stuff.

I went there with my 6 years old daughter and she enjoyed it a lot too, even she was the only child there.

If you want to be sosial, get new friends - go there :)
But it`s no problem either to find a peasfull place if you are in a mood for it.

Room Tip: There is a lot off diffrent type off rooms, so u need to say what u are looking for when u order
