Natura Cabana is an eco lodge paradise nestled right along the surf beach of Cabarete. We were able to walk down the beautiful coastline to go surfing and were only 5 km from Cabarete. Natura Cabana has great food, amazing lodging, yoga and massage. They go the extra mile to make a great experience for their customers.

Room Tip: Recommend renting a moto from Cabarete so that you can easily come and go from town.

We had the opportunity to stay at Natura Cabana over the March Break, 2014. Although my husband and I are not beach vacationers at all (we would much rather spend our time sightseeing in Europe), we have had to switch our travel style to accommodate the new little man in our life, our 2 year old toddler.

Our experience of Natura Cabana was certainly the way to convert us into beach bums! The property is stunning, intimate, blissful and wondrous. We loved the diversity of the grounds itself: gorgeous beach, peaceful gardens, great walking trails, relaxing spa, and an enjoyable pool and playground area.

There are two restaurants on the grounds - one serves breakfast and lunch; the other serves dinner. The staff at both are very courteous and helpful, willing to make requests off menu and loan restaurant items to resort guests. (Actually, everyone that works at Natura Cabana should be commended on doing such a wonderful job!) Breakfast and lunch offerings are simple, yet delicious. The restaurant serving dinner had a very good base menu with specials that changed frequently. Fish dishes are always exceptional, pasta dishes were very good and the steak and baby lobster dishes were just good.

Off site, we really enjoyed eating fish tacos at both Gordito's and Kite Club; while the Palace Hotel restaurant had good food and a fabulous cliff side view of the island.

Our only sour note is that the bugs made a meal out of us during the night! Our toddler had 12 bites on one side of his face alone. We had asked a few former guests of the resort (via trip advisor) if bugs were a problem but none of them indicated it was. Bring PLENTY of bug repellent just in case!

All in all, we have had a very positive experience with Natura Cabana and highly recommend it to others.

I spent 5 nights in the India Cabana over February break and had an overall blissful experience. I'm a natural foods chef, so I am super picky about food. Everything I ate was fantastic, super high quality ingredients, multi-level filters for water, and reasonably priced. They had everything from vegan/vegetarian options to haute-cuisine, and even ethnic variety, and, of course, fresh seafood. The staff was always friendly and helpful. I traveled alone and felt safe, secure, and well taken care of. I've seen lots of reviews about hot water issues, but I had none. Now, it did take an hour for the hot water to be ready, so I had to plan my showers ahead of time, but it was as simple as flipping a light switch, going to the beach for a while and hot water was plentiful when I returned. So, don't expect hot water on immediate demand. The trade-off of the beautiful, naturally built cabanas on an almost private beach was well worth planning an hour ahead for the shower. Going into town (Cabarete) was easy & fun, and the staff recommendation to eat at Casita de Papi in town was a real hit. I am already going back and taking my family for Spring Break next month. This will definitely be a regular vacation spot for us.

Just spent 5 nts in March at Natura Cabana with my college age daughter. The resort is gorgeous and well maintained. The cabanas are like a combination Gilligan's Island/Flintsone structures made from stucco/stone/palm trees.

The grounds are lovely and very peaceful. The private beach is wonderful and the ocean is beautiful and lots of fun to play in. Be sure to walk in front of the resort in front of the breakfast/lunch restaurant through a tree lined path and then out to the ocean. You can walk probably a good hour along a fantastic stretch of beach. Along this stretch are surfing and kite surfing schools. This beach is great and fun to watch the surfers. Some of the beach chairs have seen better days.

The food is terrific as is the staff in both restaurants. Everything was fresh and very tasty.

We enjoyed a wonderful massage beachside and a facial. Both were lovely and affordable.

The yoga space is great - hearing the ocean and feeling the breeze while practicing adds another level of peace to your practice. The teacher is very knowledgeable and on the athletic side but I'd say it would be accessible to most yogis.

Our room, Laja, was toward the back of the resort so we did get some noise from deliveries and workers coming and going. We also didn't have a cozy porch like most of the other bungalows. A small table would be great up there. A little dresser in the room would be nice. The closet doors didn't slide well so we just worked out of our suitcases on the floor. That was fine for us. We did not have hot showers even though we turned on the heat. Since we spent our days at the beach a coolish shower was ok. Our fan was a bit noisy but you wouldn't want to go without.

We took a cab into Caberete 2 x and really enjoyed ourselves. The beach area right off the main drag is fun and there are many restaurants and bars to choose from. The first night we ate at Gordito's Fresh Mex. since it was rated so high. Wasn't impressed. From there we walked into town. A little scary walk since we didn't know the area-lots of mopeds and not a lot of sidewalk. Just stay on your toes and it is fine to make that walk. We found the beach area which is like night and day from the street. Went to Pasta e Vino for a pitcher of wonderful mojitos! Went back for dinner a couple nights later. Great view, great service, and great food.

I don't think I'd want to drive there. Crazy! Lots of moped type vehicles.

We had our cab driver stop at the market on the way to resort to get water, beer, wine, and snacks. There is a mini fridge in the room.

A lovely place that I hope to visit again.

Room Tip: Request close to front of resort.

My husband and I spent 5 nights and 6 days at Natura Cabana at the end of February. We were looking for a restful and relaxing environment and Natura provided. The first 2 nights we stayed in a spacious 2 bedroom apartment about a 3 minute walk from Natura in the safe gated community because all of the cabanas were booked. This turned out to be a great alternative and we were happy this option was available to stay in the area. We could still use everything on the property. The other 3 nights were spent in the Piedra Cabana, which was charming, king bed, beautiful stone bathroom. Once we figured out the hot water switch, we were able to take hot showers no problem. Highlights: the beach!! you feel like you are on a private beach, very few people - gentle rolling waves, beautiful scenery. We took a 1 hour horse ride down the beach paths, which was fun and easy as they met us right outside the property to pick us up and drop us off. Also, the food! we ate most meals here, there is a dinner cabana and a lunch cabana, good variety on the menu - they were willing to make additions to some of the meals. The fish burger was really good. Everything tasted great and had healthy vegetables and side salads. The staff was super attentive and helpful (arranging taxis to Cabarete and to airport, attentive to cleaning the room, really made our stay as easy and stress free as possible). We didn't want to leave and return to the frigid Northeast. This resort offers all the amenities one could want, the yoga is challenging and thought provoking. Go!!

My husband and I spent four nights in the India cabana during our February vacation in the DR. We always try to seek out eco-friendly accommodations, so we were excited to find Natura Cabana is committed to sustainability. The cabana and grounds were beautiful, and the yoga studio perfect. The restaurants were both excellent (see separate review).

However, I was stunned that on two separate occasions there was no water at all. Then, for the duration of our stay, we never had hot water. Spending close to $200 a night at a "boutique" hotel and then not being able to take a hot shower is inexcusable. We tried everything--requesting help from the front desk multiple times, requesting a room transfer, leaving the hot water switch on for over an hour (as opposed to the recommended 15 minutes) and nothing was ever done. The shower head was also very poor quality.

I've traveled in many countries and always have been able to get a decent hot shower. What a disappointment.

Room Tip: Avoid the India cabana. Terrible shower and no hot water!

Our accommodations were beautiful. Each individual cabana was unique. We had so much space, yet we paid the same as we would have if we had stayed in typical hotel. We loved the attached private patio area. We could hear the crash of the waves while falling asleep in our comfortable bed. The restaurants and yoga studio were next to the private beach. We sat outside under the thatched roofs while eating great food. The european styled breakfast, that was included with our room, was delicious. We had 5 different choices along with fresh squeezed juice and coffee. We were in between the cities of Cabarete and Sosua. You will want to check out both cities. I liked the fact that they were trying to be eco friendly, but don't forget to turn on the water heater at least 15 min before you want to shower. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

Room Tip: Any of the rooms would be great. If you have kids you might want to be nearer the pool and playgroun...
