We review the trip advisor for the best restaurants in Cabarete and found that Gordito’s was # 1. As it turns out, it was just a short walk from where we were staying (Millennium). Gordito’s is a small place on the street with outside seating. Locals call it “fast food”. I call it the “best food”. We went there the first afternoon and found a great place to eat and new friends (Deirdre and Joe, the owners). We had fish tacos, guacamole and chips. Our friends had the fish bowl and they loved it. Everything is fresh!!!! Joe has a guy that brings him fresh fish daily which goes good with the cold-cold beer. One day for lunch my bill for two fish tacos, chips two beers came to 415. I gave Deirdre 1000 peso’s. She gave be 600 back and said, “next time”, meaning it’s on me. That might not mean much to some, but in Cabarete, it means a lot. We did come back. Joe is from the US. He has a great story – got tired of the rate race and moved to Cabarete and started Gordito’s. Don’t miss it. Mike
