A great day out riding. Good quality bikes - we bought our own pedals, shoes and helmuts. The conditions were a bit slippy in places (a bit like riding on wet slippery clay) but we had a good time. Max was our guide and took good care of us

My absolute favorite adventure in a vacation filled with amazing experiences was, by far and away, the Ciguapa Falls Cascading Trip. (Truthfully, probably one of my most favorite experiences ever.) So incredibly beautiful -- another river paradise at every turn. Remote and magical, sprinkled with moments of heart-pounding fun as we approached each new jump. The guides were patient and encouraging and pushed us just enough. At the end we actually skipped a couple big jumps because we were so exhausted, but the guides didn't give us any flack, which was nice.

We are two females in early 40's who are reasonably fit, though not triathletes or anything, and I would say that this definitely pushed us the the edge of our physical limitations (with the amount of hiking, rock scrambling and swimming), but at no time did we feel concerned for our safety. The guides were amazingly well-trained and extremely professional and for me, the physical exhaustion was absolutely worth it and part of the fun. By the way, unless you ARE a triathlete, I would suggest getting the mule ride back up the steepest, muddiest bit of the mountain. (Even the guy who'd brought us the mule found the walk up exhausting.)

If you are outdoorsy, and love adventure and stunningly beautiful places, and don't mind pushing yourself -- this adventure is for you!

Oh, and did I mention the lunch was amazingly yummy . . .

This was one of the best trips of my life. You get to see all the falls. Some you jump off of, highest one is 25 ft. Others are natural water slides. The guides were attentive and helpful. We loved it and everyone else on our tour was thrilled, kids, couples, we were all scared, excited and amazed. You should be in shape at least a little. So much fun, worth the money.

We needed to re-schedule the river kayak adventure twice because of dental emergencies. Michael at Iguana Mama was very understanding and got us in at a later date. I really appreciated his kind caring attitude and great customer service. The trip was guided by Helmut Ludvig and a young Dominican guy. Paulo was his name I think. They were both excellent guides. The Yasika River and lush surroundings were gorgeous. Many of us also tried paddle boarding in the really calm areas. About 3/4 through the trip, Paulo climbed a tree and hung up rope swing trapeze and we took turns flinging ourselves out into the river. One of the highlights was the traditional Dominican lunch at Nydia's place. Nydia prepared an excellent meal of chicken, rice, beans, plantains, and an excellent smoked eggplant dish. We also did the El Choco National Park guided hike. Alejandro was our guide. We really wanted to learn about the different tropical plants and trees especially the fruit bearing varieties and different medicinal plants of the jungle. Alejandro really knew his stuff. He must have pointed out at least 30 unique plants and trees during our hike. He took us into deep caves with pristine clear fresh water. We went swimming in the last one. The caves had all kinds of unique limestone like rock formations. Alejandro really took the time to educate us about DR jungle flora and fauna, as well as give us more of a sense of the Dominican people who live in this region. We were very satisfied with our Iguana Mama experiences and look forward to going back and doing one of the waterfall adventures.

Just got back from a week-long stay in Cabarete Christmas week with 16 (!) family members. Finding activities that we can all do together is normally a challenge - but not with Iguana Mama! All of us did the half-day downhill bike cruise with great success! Guides Luis, Max and Alex kept us all together and helped those who needed it. The second off-road section with two river crossings was a challenge but safe and doable with the expert support of our guides. 11 of us did the Rapeller's Delight - an over-the-top experience that challenged each of us. Again, with the expert support of our guides Alex and Pablo and their team, as well as the top notch equipment, we were able to focus on the natural beauty and adrenaline-charged course. One 26-year old person said that doing this trip was "the best day of her life!" Our group also had much fun doing a beachfront horseback ride and El Choco hike.
In short, Iguana Mama differentiates the typical family beach experience into another dimension of unforgettable, adrenaline-charged, nature-based experiences. They take you a short distance into the surrounding mountains but a world away from the sun and sand of Cabarete.
Highly recommended and not to be missed!
We can't wait to go back!!
