Spent 3 nights in Cabarete. I was very very dissapointed with the food in this tourist town. I was hoping to try some of the local authentic Dominican cuisine, but couldn't find but 1 place on our second to last night that served real Dominican food. The name of that place is "Sandro's" and its off the beach across the street from all the tourist traps on the beach. Since most of the restaurants at cabarete beach cater to french and italians we figured that we should try to find the best european restaurant in town. After doing some internet research on our last night, We came across Bliss restaurant. I hadn't seen it on the main beach strip walking around. But that's because its off the main dragg. its on a side street and easy to miss. We were lucky to find this place on our last night. What a treat. Bliss is owned by a lovely Italian couple. The wife was our hostess, she was elegant and gracious and her husband was the chef. We had scallops in a coliflower coco sauce, grilled skirt steak, lobster linguini, goat cheese and sundried plum salad, and for dessert pineapple carpaccio. Every thing that came out was excellent. The decor and ambiance was unlike anything else in this town. If you are in cabarete you should mark Bliss as your #1 food destination while in town.
