Beach Palace Cabarete
Reviewed February 9, 2014

Spent there relaxed 2 weeks.

Condo #115, ground floor, direct beach access from the balcony (some 15 steps down). 200m2, including balconies. VERY spacious. We had 2 bedrooms out of the 3. The flat looks better in the real world than on the photos.
We were there on a self-catering basis as we started to hate the crap that all inclusive resorts used to serve nowadays.

This east end of Cabarete is more quiet and relaxed than the center. Less people, less vendors, no pubs. On the other hand it’s also just 5 mins walk to the center. Janet’s is also just a 5 mins walk. No need for any transportation. The sea is also more quiet here than in the middle of the bay. The beachfront is very quiet, practically you just hear the waves breaking. Just the condo inhabitants and a few people walking around, unless it’s sunday when lots of locals appear. The street side (guest bedrooms) can be more loud, there are a few loud vehicles and they used to honk.
Security is very good, guards are visible 99% of the time on the beach and on the street side.
They are watching closely, let you in from the beach if you forgot the keys, let you in from the street side before you get the keys from the pockets.
Minor issues were quickly resolved by Raquel.

Nice improvement would be a food processor and renewed nonstick pans (I know renters are usually careless about such, but self-catering would have been easier).

Around:
(west is towards Puerto Plata / airport)
Janet’s supermarket. East, about 100m. Great selection. Use your sins to select meat/cheese/fruits. Avoid frozen stuff. Prices quoted on shelves is what you pay, unless they forgot to update. There are price checkers around. Takes a bit to refill after holidays/Sundays. If you don’t find something, ask the guy at the front counter, he speaks English. Accepts cards.

Albertico supermarket. West, about 100m, after scotiabank. Open longer than Janet’s, but avoid unless there’s an emergency. Small selection. Cash only.

Fresh fish: “pescaderia” a bit after Janet’s to east. Be prepared that you need to buy the whole fish, not just a part. On the other hand the guy filets the fish.

Bank: scotiabank, west, about 100m. Has indoor ATMs. I’d avoid any other street side teeny tiny ATM. Looks like a real bank.

Transportation: bargain on the prices, tourists get usually double the regular quoted.
guagua: minibus, lots of people fit, 25 pesos/person for shorter rides
motoconcho: motorbike, 1-2 plus the driver fit, 50 pesos/person for shorter rides
taxi: station on the right, about 100m, fixed prices to given destinations, ask for specials like whole day Puerto Plata tour (is a lot cheaper than tour ops for more people)
rent a car: west, about 100m, easy rider. The owner gives detailed instructions what to visit around.

Watersports (windsurf, wavesurf, kitesurf):
Vela, west, about 100m -- ask for Bernat, you won’t be disappointed.

Would definitely return.

Room Tip: definitely ground floor for direct beach access

We just spent two weeks in Unit 10 at Beach Palace over New Years and our daughter and husband joined us for one week. We've been on many Caribbean vacations but this was the best. The condo was beautiful and spacious and the manager Raquel was extremely helpful whenever we had any questions.
Beach Palace is located right on the beach and just a short (3 minute) walk to the beach restaurant strip where the tables are literally on the beach - don't see that very often. There is security on the street side and on the beach side. If you exit on the street side, you are instantly immersed in a hustle-bustle main street full of all types of people - everyone friendly. Exit beach side and you have a beach paradise that is really relaxing and security keeps an eye on your stuff when you're swimming so no worries.
We love Cabarete because it has such a mix of people - locals, South Americans, Europeans, Americans and Canadians. The beach is public and it's nice to see local families having fun on the beach.
Restaurants are great on the beach but for a little off-beach experience try some other spots like Casita di Mami - walk east and it is just before the police station with no sign - great fresh fish and Cuba Libres. Janet's grocery store is just to the east and you can get just about anything there.
A stay at Beach Palace will give you a taste of the country while staying in great accommodations but don't expect the isolated all-inclusive resort experience. This is not Disney.

We just spent two weeks in #211 - a three bedroom unit. The condo was well furnished, very clean and had great views. The Beach Palace has a great location being quiet yet close to the action. Security is very good, although that doesn't seem to be a great concern in Cabarete. Overall management is excellent due to Raquel who is always ready to help and very pleasant to deal with.

1 ST FLR condo, 17, wonderful place to stay! Right on the beach. Short walk to town, all the night life, ae place to do it.nd restaurants. Wifi provided, so bring your laptop. If u need to relax and unwind, this is the place to do.
If u r adventurous, Sunshine Charlie Tours, just up the street, and will hook u up. I would check them out online as some of the tours r only on certain days. Looking forward to the ¨Blue lagoon Tour¨, where the movie was filmed. Enjoy!!

Room Tip: 17, right on the beach and FANTASTIC VIEW!! WILL post photos later. They also offer airport pickup...

Very nice, clean, AC everywhere, amazing view... What else to say! Number one place to stay in Cabarete. Very close to all the bars and restaurants, very good cleaning services. Kitchen good equipped to use. If you don't like the wavy beach in Cabarete or don't like surfing, go to SOSUA! 15 minutes by car or taxi, clear water, beautiful beach, great for snorkeling! Worth seeing it!

Beach trip after wedding.
Hotel Palace is right at the beach! The rooms are clean, comfortable and cozy. The staff is helpful and always friendly. The beach is a great place for surfing and other exciting beach activities. There are several multi-cuisine restaurants and bars at just walking distance from the hotel apart from a supermarket where it is easy to buy all your daily needs and make your stay extremely comfortable.

We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Try second floor and up
