We have stayed in Barahona previously on mission trips and Playazul was a special treat. To be able to see the beautiful ocean views and have the caring staff made for a rewarding trip with needed relaxation when we returned to the hotel. Beautiful grounds, great food, an hostess. Couldn't ask for better in this area of the DR. Can't wait until next year!!

Great views and easy access to Barahona. Food is amazing, and owners were responsive to room issues. Internet quality poor, but great excuse to be off the grid. Recommend for an off the beaten track resort.

... unfortunately there were cockroaches in our room. We asked at the reception to change the room but they gave us a bug/insect spray and only after complaining again we could change the room which was also full of cockroaches. This is not acceptable! The worst is that the management gave us only a discount of 5 % for the last night! That's a joke.
The place is nice though, but when the management offers such a bad service I cannot recommend that place. There are nicer places around!

- No electricity half of the time
- Restaurant bill(s) accumulated over a few days (to pay at check out) contained various items that were not consumed, or different (higher priced) items
- Hotel staff steals (in my case from the laundry). Management knows about it but don't seem to care. This is probably a way of remunerating the staff.
- Leaking roofs
All in all something you might expect to happen from a local trying to rip off a foreigner, not from a foreign own and managed hotel
The local politur policeman is on their "bonus-list" so it's kind of pointless to find reason there.

Room Tip: Simply stay away from this hotel there are to many problems that will take to much of your time and...

I stay there everytime I come in for business. It's clean, rooms are large, and the breakfast is quite good. it's reasonably priced, The staff are amazing and always rememer me. I wouldn't stay anywhere else and it's one of the best hotels in the region. .

This place is a nightmare we stayed 2 days but it was so bad that I wanted to leave on the first day... Over price for what you are getting, wifi did not work, tv did not work, ac did not work, we had to change rooms twice but still the ac did not work and were leaking water all over the floor.. The restaurant over price and not good, a mediocre breakfast with flies all over the food..
Rooms and bathrooms needs a lot of CLEANNIG .This is like a bad motel not a hotel ..horrible place to stay ...They don't take credit card, so you can not call the credit card to take off the charges... Please don't stay in this place ....look for other options..

Beds are very small ......... prices for the rooms are ok, probably a little on the expensive side for what you are getting ... we had two rooms ... one of the rooms the a/c did not work and had to argue with the receptionist for 3-hours ... she kept telling us to wait a few minutes it will get cold ... anyone knows that a/c's get cold as soon as you turn them on ... so after three hours I finally got ahold of the owner who had it recharged within an hour ... she blamed it on the power going on and off all the time, but ... the power going on and off all the time does not cause a refrigerant leak !! The rooms are also very small and the bathrooms are even smaller ... shower only ... cockroaches in the bathroom .............
Lunch cost us $ 55.00 US for a plate of pasta with tomato sauce, french fries, a couple of beers and a couple of waters .... very, very expensive .............
The next morning the inclusive breakfast was nowhere to be had ... we got to the restaurant at 10 to 10 and the waiter said that breakfast was over ... went to speak with the owner and he resolved the problem but, by then I had lost my appetite and no longer wanted to eat there ...
Shouldn't have to argue about getting what was promised to you and what you paid for ..........
They do have two nice units that are much more expensive than the rest of the units ...........
The view from atop the cliff is spectacular, however, if you walk down the stairs to the beach you will be very disappointed, it really is just a trash dump, no beach to speak of, terrible ...
The rooms also had numerous types of live and dead bugs in them ......... Pool is very small ...
wifi did not work .....
You would think that this place would be quiet but with all the in-house wildlife roaming around it becomes, at times quite noisy at night just when you want to go asleep ......
Will not return and would not recommend !

Room Tip: If you want to stay here you must rent one of the two nice units that they have, expect to pay alot...
