I just love this trip... I will be going with my friends for our 6th year in March. We have added friends and family each year. Climate and weather is perfect. Mostly a ladies resort although over time the convention business has learned about Ixtapan and it's spas. Spa services are good for the value... there is also another spa next door that is wonderful. The town and the charm and people are wonderful. Very safe.... We are most comfortable walking the streets and shopping. Hotel pools are very very nice, one very warm and one cool. Exercise classes very good. salsa dancing, yoga, aerobics, and water aerobics. Golf course beautiful and no one is there!! Tennis good too. Have fun and enjoy this is one of my most favorite places on earth!

We stayed at the Ixtapan Spa on their 4 night spa classsic package.

The rooms are spacious and decent. They are typical run of the house rooms, clean and pleasant. I would recommend staying on the 5th or 6th floors, not only for the view, but because the ladies spa is on the 5th floor and the mens is on the 6th floor which adds to convenience.

The spa inclusions are wonderful. They keep a prompt schedule and all treatments are enjoyable and professional. You can also add spa treatments at a 40/50% discount if you book 3 or 4 more per room which makes that a very good deal.

The meals were good and the service was pleasant. It is an older property that definately is well worth the money, but don't expect new and large. It is older, very well kept and very intimate. It is quiet at night, but again...enjoyable. It is a spa!!

The golf course was beautiful. If you want to play, I would advise a golf package and add extra spa treatments to it as it is 110.00 per person/18 holes plus cart and cadie.

The morning walks were enjoyable as well as the yoga/pilates/aquatics.

This is a very good value for your dollar.

The transfers take about 2 hours from Mexico City, but Continental is now flying to Toluca which is only an hour at most.

This is a wonderful place and a great value.

Spent a week at Hotel Spa Ixtapen in May - and the experience was better than I expected. The food was deliciously fresh & tasty , spa treatments excellent, staff extremely friendly and helpful and the grounds beautiful and manicured. There is something "going on" dawn til dusk to satisy everyone - made many new friends and plan to return next year. Oh yes, and the weather was beautiful 24 hours a day!

Found it by accident, spent a week spaing and exercising the 1st of the year. Already made reservations to take the whole family in November. Service and spa treatments are excellent, rooms are good, missed a tub tho, just had a shower.

Need to second the opinion on the dining rooms, both the spa menu and regular gourmet menu were wonderful. Have never seen a better value for the quality you get!

I have enjoyed going to Hotel Spa Ixtapan for the past 5 years. The staff is friendly and eager to please. The food is excellant in both dining rooms-low calorie and fine dining. The programs offered are an 'unheard of' value compared to anything in the states which include a variety of services, tennis lessons, exercise classes, nightly movies, live music nightly and Sat night Mexican music and margaritas. The village of Ixtapan de la Sal is friendly, safe and a pleasure to roam around WITHOUT being hassled by young children. I have been there in March, August, and October and each season has it's beauty, but overall temperature year round is 75-85 because of the altitude of 6000 in the beautiful Sierra Madre Mountains. Quick trips to the mineral pools and mud baths and day trips to Taxco, Cuernavaca and Metepec, the Axtec ruins and the largest caves in Southern Hemisphere are easily arranged. It also welcomes families who wish to vacation together.
