If you want to recharge your batteries in only 1 weekend, take a raid to Piatra Craiului mountains. The lanscape will amaze you in all seasons. For gourmands: I recommend you a delicious home made apple pie at Cabana Curmatura. For trekking fans, a walk through the pitoresque villages Magura & Pestera. Extra tip: ask the village people to guide you to the Bats' Cave (Pestera Liliecilor). Enjoy and respect nature!

Piatra Craiului (Konigsstein) is a range that needs to be visited on foot, by bike and on skies.
Climb the steep slopes to the very peak and enjoy the views ! Then travel to the villages Magura and Pestera, where the time seems to have stopped long ago ....

My friends and I hiked along a trail, light snow falling, for hours. We audibly gasped when we rounded a corner and saw the enormous rock formations on each side of the trial for the first time!
A very, very beautiful place, one of the greatest I have experienced thus far! Romania is a treasure!

We are going to these places from 30 years and each year we discover something new.Usually we are going almost every year and we stay at a family friends in Zarnesti (at a distance of 28 km from the city of Brasov, by road, bus or railway;circa 200 km north of BUCHAREST, the capital of ROMANIA.), the most important town for visiting the National Park .It is also an ideal starting point for approaches in the northern part of the massif as well as from Zarnesti a forest road starts from the south-western part of the town, leading through the Zarnesti Gorges, that we show in the photos attached.

Great location for mountain bike lovers! Translation for Piatra Craiului mountains is aprox. King's Rock mountains...
Magnificent area, places to rest and feed, specialized guides to give advice and technical support, local MTB events (check Hypersport lifestyle.ro web page)! I love it!

We spend the nights near Bran Castle ( another great attraction!) at hotel Cehov, the meeting point for our group. They also can provide bikes for rent.
Excellent outdoor activitiy!
