A truly wonderful experience. The hotel is situated right on the 'Triangle'. Even looking out of the room windows, you can see elephants at rest in the jungle, The virtual swimming pool is marvellous. The service, friendly smiles of the staff and food is excellent.
The last time we stayed we did the Elephant training course. Again this was organised to perfection.
The Three Country day trip from the hotel was timed to perfection for all of the journey.
All in all a great holiday.

Room Tip: The nearest village is just one kilometre away and is a quite easy walk. However, if going out for the evening, ensure that you take flash light for the walk back in the dark.

This property excels in every area. Atmosphere is second to none. The service from the concierge to the pool staff to the wait staff was excellent. Food very good. Arriving by long boat and elephant to the hotel is worth the upgrade for sure. Elephant experience an opportunity of a life time. Everyday AMM, an 8 year old elephant and his mahoot would join us for breakfast.

Kids loved the opportunity to get up and close to him, feed him bananas and great photo opportunities.

Would highly recommend this property and the unique experience they offer to anyone visiting Thailand. Well worth the short flight from Bangkok. The reward are travel memories unlike any other for the rest of your life

What an amazing place. We booked this hotel - sadly for only two nights - as part of our honeymoon trip. In hindsight, we look back and wish we stayed here just a little longer. While we booked because of the Elephant Camp, there were other great things about staying here.

First off, we booked the Grand Arrival which starts with a van ride from Chiang Rai. Our driver, Tommy, was great. He gave us all sorts of little facts and tidbits about the journey and the area. He dropped us off at a pier where we took a 25 minute boat ride up the Mekong. After the boat ride we were met by the manager of the Elephant Camp who greeted us with cold, fresh coconuts to sip and introduced us to our elephant who would carry us up to the hotel. As it turned out, after we finished sipping our coconuts we fed the to our elephant - his favorite treat. While it may be a bit of an extravagance, the Grand Arrival is truly an experience that should not be missed!

We spent the rest of the afternoon participating in the Mahout Experience. We could have spent days and days with the amazing elephants and mahouts. And the new baby elephant was absolutely mesmerizing watching him try and figure out how to maneuver his trunk! So adorable.

The next day we did the Spice Spoons experience with Chef Wit. Chef, thank you so much for your amazing class! We have already made the green mango salad - substituting green apples for green mangos since we can't find green mangos in Colorado. While we came for the elephants, the Spice Spoons class is not to be missed - especially so you can always enjoy a little bit of Thailand when you get home.

From the spa, to the restaurant (we only ate in the traditional Thai restaurant and didn't try the Italian one) everything here is just perfect. The staff is all so lovely and friendly. I do wish we had a bit more time to explore Chiang Saen, but that is our fault for not staying longer.

We have had the privaledge of being able to stay at this property for the last 10 nights. Writing this review on our last evening with deep sadness at having to leave. Whilst we could wax lyrical about the hotel most everyone else has said it all and we would second all the comments. However to review the specifics of this wonderful property is missing the point. The EXPERIENCE is the key thing and it is unique in that respect. We travelled as a family of 3 with our 3 year old daughter. We will take with us a lifetime of memories and stories. Our friends back in the UK have seen the pictures and without exception cannot believe the experience we have had. If you can spare the time to stay longer at this property you will be able to truly bond with these wonderful animals and experience Thai hospitality at it's very best. Our daughter loved every minute and feels like a minor celebrity I'm sure. She rode elephants and we have some AMAZING pictures of her that she will show to her children one day I'm sure.
Yes it's pricey but worth every penny. All the staff and management deserve special mention as do the wonderful mahouts who make the elephant experiences possible.
If you go to Thailand DO NOT miss this experience even if only for 2 nights. You will not regret it. While you are here don't ignore the Hall of Opium and if you get time visit the beautiful gardens at Doi Tung, The White Temple and The Black House. Sure we will return and look forward to checking on the progress of our favorite elephants Suki, Am and Pepsi.

My family and I along with another family recently stayed at this incredible property. After a short flight from Bangkok we were greeted by our hospitable and friendly driver who drove us (45 min) in an comfortable van fully stocked with beverages, cold towels, cookies and even wifi to our first stop Chiang Saen. We had opted for the VIP arrival to the hotel and we were delighted with the experience. From Chiang Saen we were taken by long tail boat up the river to the hotel pier. After disembarking at the pier we were offered a refreshing coconut milk drink and then boarded our elephants for the walk to the hotel. Upon arrival we were taken to the lobby lounge where we were offered lemongrass tea and a neck and shoulder massage!! What a great way to begin our stay. The service throughout our stay was attentive, warm and friendly. On the 2nd day of our stay we did the Mahout experience which I HIGHLY recommend for anyone staying at the hotel. We had young children with us (8 and 10 years old) who were also able to participate in this experience and loved it! It was truly the highlight of the trip - learning more about the elephants, the camp and their programs as well as riding the elephants like a mahout directly on their necks. In the afternoons we spent time relaxing and enjoying the peacefulness around the pool. During our time around the pool we were offered complimentary hand/arm massages, thai ice cream, fruit and cold towels. We truly felt pampered! The sincerity and genuine attention to service is evident in all the staff and is an indication of how passionate everyone from the GM to the Concierge to Front office and food and beverage care about their guests. We cannot wait to visit this property again in the future and if you want to have a once in a lifetime experience then this is the hotel and destination for you!

Room Tip: We had a Junior Suite with a connecting room next door for our children (we have 4 kids) and it was the ideal arrangement.
